Do you need special training to write an Employment Posting?

I am retired but have recently started to browse through the on line job sites to help out a friends search and I have to say I have no idea what some of these job requirements really are...For example...

Experience with Contractual Hygiene.... This was for an entry level Admin job. Are they looking for someone to keep the papers clean? Are they looking for someone who knows how to run an anti virus or spell check?

And another for a receptionist position with a software company.

Consistent high quality of interaction with all drivers and principles.

Do you have to take a class to learn how to write bull shit like this and is there a contest for the most obtuse and obscure job requirements....I have a few nominees.

Nearly half the girls in India are married before they are 18

Interesting yet frightening statistics and article about work of the Elders in impacting Women's and Girls rights on the Subcontinent.

In India, nearly half of all girls are married before they turn the legal age of 18. In the state of Bihar, the statistics are even grimmer: 69% of girls are wedded before they’re 18 and 48% before they turn 15. Archbishop Desmond Tutu and a group of global leaders known as the Elders are trying to change this. Tutu, a Nobel Peace Prize winner for his role in helping end apartheid in South Africa, led a delegation to Bihar last week to try to understand the causes of child marriages and to meet with organizations working to bring an end to the practice. Tutu spoke with TIME’s Nilanjana Bhowmick about the problem of child marriages in India and what the country needs to do to stop them.

Lawmaker says Girl Scouts push 'homosexual lifestyle'

OY! As a former scout this just struck me as the most ridiculous thing I've heard today. Perhaps they support the Capitalistic Cookie Selling Skills but I never once heard about Planned Parenthood In my Brownie Troop....

It's Cookie time for the Girl Scouts but it looks like it time for the yearly attack on the Brownies, Cadets, and Juniors....

http://now.msn.com/now/0220-girl-scouts-gay-agenda.aspx

Now you don't think he's spouting that stupid mantra that if we raise independent competent girls they'll "turn" lesbian on us... He couldn't possibly be implying that now in 2012...Right? Eeeeeeks

Delicious and non cream based Pasta Primavera

This could even be Vegan without the Parm.

Of course America's Test Kitchen came up with a terrific "Pasta Primavera"

I made this tonight with Farfalle. I added a bit more garlic and added spinach, shallots and those little grape tomatoes at the end to the leeks, asparagus and peas. Husband thought it would be great with a little ham added.

Basically the Pasta is cooked like a Risotto. It took a while and you needed to stir quite a bit to make sure the pasta was evenly cooked.

You need to register to get the specific measurements but you can watch the video which is what I did and winged it from there.

Really, really a good dish and it will go into the regular rotation for the summer...Filling but light and refreshing with the lemon! Oh I added the zest of the lemon as well.

What can we do as a group about the Legistative Mandated Rape of Abortion Seekers

Yesterday the Va House passed a bill mandating transvaginal ultrasounds for anyone seeking an Abortion in that state. The governor has already stated he would sign it.

In addition the TX law will go into effect today as the 5th Circuit Court appealed CRR's request for a re hearing was denied.

Have you ever wondered what DU would look like with Woman as the Dominant Gender

This Chrome Extension Jailbreak the Patriarchy will give you a taste.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/fiidcfoaaciclafodoficaofidfencgd

"Genderswaps your view of the web.

Jailbreak the Patriarchy genderswaps the world for you. When it's installed, everything you read in Chrome (except for gmail, so far) loads with pronouns and a reasonably thorough set of other gendered words swapped. For example: "he loved his mother very much" would read as "she loved her father very much", "the patriarchy also hurts men" would read as "the matriarchy also hurts women", that sort of thing.

This makes reading stuff on the internet a pretty fascinating and eye-opening experience, I must say. What would the world be like if we reversed the way we speak about women and men? Well, now you can find out!"

It's kind of a giggle to see how things could look if all other things were equal. Though quite frankly, I don't imagine that things would be quite the mess they are now.

Here is another example of the importance of Context

There was a thread hidden earlier that contained a video that a jury thought was offensive. Frankly, I probably would have voted to hide it as well.

But Let's look at it again after I share some things that I have learned that weren't shared in the original thread.

First: Poe's Law which states

“ Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing."

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Poe%27s_Law

Now let me share with you the work of Barry Crimmins who is a Liberal Satirist of some standing.

Here's a bio

http://www.barrycrimmins.com/index.php?page=bio

And here is his theater piece about Transvaginal Ultrasounds being legislated before an abortion:

Does knowing it is satire make it funny now? And is it now appropriate to post it on DU?

Jailbreak the Patriarchy

Has anyone played with this Chrome extension that reverses gender for everything you read on the internet. Gives you a glimpse of (if all things were equal just reversed) how things could look if Women were the predominant gender.

What a hoot! Read DU from a matriarchal perspective.

Lets talk Grooming Products

I bought myself a Clarisonic for Christmas and LOVE it. I feel it really gets my face much cleaner without the irritation.

What other tools and products do you love?

I'm also a very loyal WEN user for my hair. It's been great for me and my hair is in fact much thicker than when I used regular shampoo. It gave my sister dandruff and my husband hates the way it makes his hair feels. It really is an individual thing I guess.

And....

Mineral Makeup???? I'm not much for glamming it up on a daily basis but this stuff is amazing.
