Conflict of interest: Sanders assails Clinton over Foundation

Bernie Sanders has largely been silent in the debate about the Clinton Foundation’s ties to foreign governments – including some with poor human rights records. But in the final week of the primary season against Hillary Clinton, the Vermont senator finally unleashed a few jabs on the issue.

“If you asked me about the Clinton Foundation, do I have a problem when a sitting secretary of state and a foundation run by her husband collects many millions of dollars from foreign governments, governments which are dictatorships … yeah I do,” Sanders said in an interview Sunday morning on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

‘Invisible Women’ for Hillary

http://bluenationreview.com/invisible-women-for-hillary/

By Ginger McKnight-Chavers

“I am invisible, understand, simply because people refuse to see me.” I have thought of this quote from Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man often during this election season.

As an African American woman who supports Hillary Clinton, I regularly feel invisible. The media, the pundits, the pollsters and the other candidates refuse to see me.

Women (who make up over 60% of registered voters) and minorities are disregarded as if we are unimportant to the candidates’ platforms or the outcome of the race, and as if we don’t recall the genesis of these smears.

Though Hillary has earned millions more votes than either Bernie or Donald, Hillary’s supporters, particularly female voters, are often deemed irrelevant in the media. And when we try to raise our voices, we are mocked, trolled, and verbally assaulted so persistently that the effort becomes daunting.

Between working, learning, raising families, caregiving, bettering our communities, and engaging in the real world around us, we don’t have the time or the patience to waste precious energy on fighting incessant harassment as the cost of participation.

The “saying nothing, talking loud” crowd (to paraphrase Earth Wind & Fire) may attempt to silence us. But we won’t remain invisible forever....

Here’s where Hillary Clinton is giving her nomination victory speech on Tuesday night

Here’s where Hillary Clinton is giving her nomination victory speech on Tuesday night

By Bill Palmer | June 4, 2016 |

Hillary Clinton will officially clinch the Democratic Party 2016 nomination for President on Tuesday June 7th when the polls close in New Jersey, whether she wins the state or not, based on proportional delegates — but she won’t be giving her victory speech there. She’ll also be looking to win the California primary later that night, but she won’t be speaking from the west coast either. Instead, Hillary has revealed an intriguing home base for the evening....

Hillary will be holding an official event at the Brooklyn Navy Yard from 6:00 to 10:00pm eastern time on Tuesday night, meaning that when the polls close in New Jersey and she officially becomes the democratic nominee, she’ll be celebrating just across the Hudson River and East River. It represents an opportunity to bring her campaign back to its starting point.

Clinton Ends Campaign With Clear Call to Elect Obama

By ADAM NAGOURNEY and MARK LEIBOVICHJUNE 8, 2008

WASHINGTON — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton brought her campaign for the White House to an end on Saturday with a rousing farewell to thousands of supporters here and an emotional and unequivocal call for her voters to get behind Senator Barack Obama, the man who defeated her for the Democratic nomination.

For 28 minutes, standing alone on a stage in the historic National Building Museum, Mrs. Clinton spoke not only about the importance of electing Mr. Obama, but also about the extent to which her campaign was a milestone for women. She urged women who had supported her — who had turned out at her headquarters, flocked to her rallies and poured into the polls to vote for her — not to take the wrong lesson from her loss.

Hillary Clinton to Offer Plan on Paying College Tuition Without Needing Loans

I like Hillary's plan. Her plan offers aid to people who are already struggling with repaying student loans, parent with children in college and millenials, who are just starting college. Plus...Her plan is sure to garner a large amount of bi-partisan support. Republicans struggle with student loans and rising tuition, too.

Under the plan, which was outlined by Clinton advisers on Sunday, about $175 billion in grants would go to states that guarantee that students would not have to take out loans to cover tuition at four-year public colleges and universities. In return for the money, states would have to end budget cuts to increase spending over time on higher education, while also working to slow the growth of tuition, though the plan does not require states to cap it.

Mrs. Clinton would pay for the plan by capping the value of itemized deductions that wealthy families can take on their tax returns. The tax and spending elements of her proposal would need support from Congress — a tall order, since it is now run by Republicans — while the plan’s goals would depend on support from state governors and legislators, more and more of whom have been Republicans recently....

But some education analysts said they believed her debt relief ideas would have a chance in a Republican-led House and Senate because anxieties about high tuition cross party lines.

“There is a lot of bipartisan interest in issues of college affordability, and bipartisan support for Pell Grants, student loans and other federal programs,” said Robert Shireman, who advised President Obama and President Bill Clinton on education issues, and who offered input on the plan to the Clinton campaign. “The compact proposed by Hillary Clinton is a strong starting point for a discussion that zeros in on the issues that are in the public mind and have been raised by leaders in both parties: accountability, outcomes, college costs, and manageable loan repayment.”
