Tom Yossarian Joad
Tom Yossarian Joad's JournalJust found this shot I took at a Trail of Tears event.
Seems to be one thing standing out as the one most important thing that hasn't changed in DU
for the last twenty years:
The number of phenomenally wonderful posters.
Whether it's breaking news, mini essays to make one think, Political cartoons, peeks at art and genuinely caring people under the same tent, DU has been there for me as a respite through times good and bad. I can't think of another website in the last two decades has this wonderful sanctuary for those who wish for respite from the pressures of the current political day or just share a frustration or two with others.
And of course, a hat tip to all those who made this happen and all those who help in herding the cats to keep DU, DU.
Thank you for putting up with me.
Okay, I have my box of tissues and just qued up the new season of Call the Midwife on Netflix and
I don't want to hear about. I admit it. There's a place in my heart for schmaltzy smarm.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on AMC+
I rather enjoyed the first installment of this new WD segment. Liked it better than the Maggie/Negan series.
Anyone else watch?
Edited to correct silly misspelling which put Maggie with a star trek character.

Kamala rocks!
Kamala Harris: Hip-Hop Is the Ultimate American Art FormKamala Harris invited some of raps top artists, from Lil Wayne to Slick Rick, to perform on Saturday at her home in Washington, D.C., for what she called the first-ever hip-hop house party at the Office of the Vice President of the United States.

Harris partnered with the Recording Academys Black Music Collective and Live Nation Urban to put on the commemoration, which marked the first time a sitting vice president has hosted a celebration of this kind. More than 400 guests attended, including Jennifer Hudson, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Yvette Nicole Brown, Roland Martin, Jesse Collins, Tamika Mallory and Recording Academy CEO and president Harvey Mason Jr., who introduced Harris to the stage. Actor-comedian Deon Cole hosted the event.

Dear Trump, You should have stuck with fantasizing about killing people on 5th Ave.
That shit don't fly in DC.
Honestly hoping that they either decide to drop your SS contingent so you can experience the true joys of incarceration or they find you guilty of treason with the same punishment the Rosenberg's received.

If you need a breath to reaffirm there are still some good ones out there...
Out of nowhere, Green Day's frontman Billie Joe Armstrong asked an 11-year-old called Juul to join the band onstage after he caught his attention from the front row. Not believing his luck, Juul jumped at the opportunity and ran onstage. Armstrong gave Juul the guitar off his back and the youngster jammed with the band in front of the huge crowd at Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands. Juul didnt show any signs of nervousness and showed the crowd some great stage moves, but suddenly, he was overcome with emotion. You can see the moment it all hits him as he bursts into tears on stage, Armstrong gives him a hug and tells him he can keep the guitar. Thankfully this heartwarming moment was caught on camera and reached 8.7 million views as people enjoy a genuinely beautiful moment on stage.
Screw (Britbox)
Of course the word is slang for a corrections officer in a 6 episode series now showing on Britbox.
For me it was a very well acted drama with great performances that chronicles the lives of a handful of prisoners and their caretakers within the British corrections system.
Highly recommended.
