The Scar is just another in love with himself politician who thinks he has the edge on the

news because he was inside the machine, pal.

They are cock sure of themselves because they have had success at the polls which validates the high opinion of themselves. It's a heady feeling to win an election to know that you have been proven better than the other guy or gal.

Believe me, I know. I won a primary election, I crushed the guy. You can't believe what that feels like.

But then again, I am a realists and I purposely erased all of that nonsense out of my head and started from scratch.

Anyway, Scar is a typical politician who had everything going his way. I don't know why he quit but he did and he knows he left on top of his game. Now I hear he is thinking about running for the GOP nomination. Good luck to him. Hs ego will come rushing down to the ground especially when he no longer has his forum every morning.

When Obama wins next week, the long knifes on the left will be out. The Democrats have a lot of eager people who want to continue the Democrats in the Oval Office. And it will be easier because the GOP is losing their base as their big guns start to die off and or retire.

Things are going to be different in 2016 especially if things are still in a state of flux as far as the economy, environment and energy solutions go. These are the man issues that are coming at us fast and we need a left leaning centrist to grab hold of the opportunity of change that president Obama started and run with it into the 2020's.

Bringing up president Clinton in a couple threads reminded me of my day with the Big Dawg...

Well, I was part of the entourage on one of his visits to Cleveland in 1996.

He was giving a policy speech and then he was going to a fund raiser. It was cool. I volunteered to be a driver and I was in the motorcade which was way cool too.

So I had three of the pool reporters in my car and we went into the hall where he was speaking and I got picture of him with me. Not a great picture, but I have this dumb ass look on my face.

Anyway, we all got into the cars and drove on out to the fundraiser. Funny, if I hadn't volunteered to be a part of the motorcade, I would have been inside the fundraiser. At that time I was the treasurer of the party here in Cleveland.

After the show, the guys came out and said watch this....

A crowd of about 200-225 people had gathered across the street in front of a CVS drugstore.

The big dawg bolted across the street, much to the consternation of the Secret Service. The guys said he will shake hands and say hello to every person on the other side of the line. No election coming up, no political gain he just waded right into that crowd and came alive.

It was a master showing all of us what a true politician will do.

After that, I jumped into my campaign and made it a point to go right up to the people and talk to them, look them in the eye and ask how they were. The most important thing was no matter what they say, keep a smile on your face.

That man is once in a lifetime politician.

They like to say Reagan was like that but he wasn't all that comfortable with people. He was an actor and played a part. Clinton is a political animal and will go down in history as one of the most successful politician in this country's history.

There is no one like Clinton. A man of the people, for the people and by the people.

Last night was a perfect example of how compromised my health truly is…

As most here on DU know, I have severely challenged breathing issues. I need supplemental Oxygen just to be able to walk around the house. As the wind and rain stared to howl around our house, rattling the windows, naturally culling the dead branches out of our trees, the power started to stutter.

Nothing terrible, just a little unnerving since we have a full wall of windows facing due north.

However, at around 11:00, the power started to stutter. Every fifteen minutes or so, the power would shut down and come right back, usually as close to immediately as possible.

At first, I thought it was the connection between the house and the grid since our intake wiring comes right through two trees. Since our development was built back in the early 50’s, our wires are still strung while almost every other development it has underground wires.

When I took a look outside, the only outdoor sign visible from our house and saw that it was flickering on the same schedule.

Now every time the lights flickered, my Oxygen machine would sputter and then let out a screeching sound that would scare off a grave robber. And since the everything was flickering, the internet was almost impossible to use and the cable, well we gave up.

So we were left mostly in the dark with a screeching O2 machine and a static filled portable radio.

Now I do have an emergency tank that holds close to 50 hours of O2. But if something really drastic happened, I didn’t want to use up the back-up tank.

MrsWCGreen put some earplugs in and went to bed. Me, well, I just laid there trying to read as the howling wind, the pelting rain was punctuated with the screech of the O2 machine. It last all the way till about 7:30AM.

There s this accepted idea that CNN is more on the side of the GOP...

And there are a lot of reasons to believe that is true. Remember, CNN is a large money making concern and the last time I looked, most large money making concerns are pro business which, in this great country of ours, means leaning to the right and that means the GOP.

As an accountant I find this absurd. The whole idea is to foster and grow new business in order to provide good jobs so that people can buy the stuff and services provided by business. Think about the whole circle of life thing and imagine that happening in the market place.

CNN, like most for profit concerns, embrace conservatism because they believe that makes for economic stability. Or so they think.

It really is all about a wonderful life if you remove that friend of George's who was giving George an insider trading tip, but I quibble.

Just think of George Bailey and Mr. Potter. The Bailey Loan Company combined the market power of the town and used that capital to spread around the money so that it would lift up the most people along the way. Mr. Potter's version, so spelled out when Clarence showed to George what the town would look like if the humanity was taken out of the market place and filled with the kind of draconian capitalism that all those Masters of the Universe operating on Wall Street would love to have happen.

This all shows us that a thriving and healthy economy depends on opening up as many opportunities as possible for those who work, those who produce and those who invest. All can benefit. We reward those who work with wages, we reward investors with dividends and growth and we reward those who produce with profit.

The whole interaction of these the forces gives us a modern, functioning and efficient organization of societal economics.

Now if greed steps in...

Well, the Bible talked about that when they brought up Sodom and Gommorrah. These two cities, so the legend goes, were more interested in looking out for the themselves and were willing to risk it all for the sake of pleasure. Think about it for a minute. The matters of the flesh were embraced as the matters of the town were looked after only if they had too.

So what I am getting at is this idea of trickle down economy is all about skewing the relationship between wages, dividends and profits way more to the profit sector. And this is happening right now in the US economy. All you have to do is look at the tax code and how capital gains are taxed and compare that with how interest and wages are taxed.

The tax code is essentially stating that wages are not as valuable to society as dividends which are not as valuable to society as capital gains, which is really the taxing of the gains of profit as it is absorbed into the company.

so if we saw profits are more important than wages, is it any wonder that those who work for a living are falling behind those who own the places our people work.

Just a thought to ponder on a rainy Sunday night in October...

I was invited to a house warming as well as a halloween party tonight...

I feel like Mr. Popularity, a real party hound. Two party's in one night. Just like college.

I really wanted to go to both but then again we are closing in on inside weather time and that spells trouble for people like me.

Why, you ask? Well, because of my "delicate" condition, I have to be careful when ever people gather together in close spaces because if I catch an errant germ, it could really mess up my day. Any kind of germ that settles in my compromised lungs could send me to the hospital.

Mrs WCGreen was going to stay home but I told her to go out and have a good time. Well we got to talking and we decided to take advantage of technology. So Mrs WCGreen and I signed up for the Skype and she took her lap top to the first party and they showed me around the house and I was able to enjoy the party without the mess.

Right now Mrs WCGreen is headed over to the other party. My old college room mate and a dear friend are throwing a halloween party and Joe is a wiz at decorating. And he loves the Halloween stuff. Mrs WCGreen is on the way back to house to drop off some food and then she is off to the party.

Can't wait to see all the costumes. It's almost like being there. I think I am going to tell them to sit me in the corner so I can just kind of hang and if anyone wants to chat, I'll be there. It's almost as good as being there. Almost. But it sure beats sitting home alone.

What an age we live in...

Break thru in my long chronic illness...

today, for the first time in about six months, I was able to clean the kitchen without completely running out of breath. I had to stop once, but I was able to stand there and do the dishes, empty the dishwasher and put some dishes away.

It's little things like this that I am sure everyone at this site bring happiness and joy and relief and comfort.

Just thought I would remind people, especially with the nationwide back drop of a national election looming over all of us, that sometimes, it truly is the little things that matter the most...

On Edit....

Wow! I am grateful for all the support and good tidings.

I just can't answer everyone right now, but I can't thank you all enough. it's been a long slog and over the years, DU has been my link to the world. Thank you all again and thanks for the people who work so hard to make this place feel so much like home!

I know this sounds alarmist and I don't want anyone to think I'm some liberal crank pot....

But I don't want to be the Democratic Cassandra who saw into the future but no one was willing to listen to her either...

So, at the risk of being pidgin holed, let me bring this up:

What is more dangerous to the American Way of life as we define it here more than a decade into the 21st century, the Muslim Taliban who have embraced the superstitions of the 8th century or the US republicans who are taking dead aim at the modern world we have built with reason, education and debunking superstition.

We looked in horror, well. I believed at the time it was in horror, when the Taliban destroyed ancient artifacts because they didn't align with their world view. i remember watching them blow up ancient Buddha statuary that was carved into the side of a cliff.

If we don't stop this decent back to the "good old days" of back alley abortions, people being forced to worship and women were, well best suited for working in the home right NOW, it will happen.

I've seen a lot a trying times in this country, race riots, student protests ending in death, lynching and all the rest that we thought was fading into the past. But now I see the rise of the "reasoned" conservatives who disguise their extremism in self-centered economics that appeals to that much admired "American Spirit."

Well, if we aren't more vigilant, that American Spirit will be crushed by the onslaught of Old Testament fire and brimstone. You can take that to the bank.

What's your favorite thing about the internet now that most of us have had it for 10 or more years..

To me it is watching the weather radar in real time dropped over a map so you can literally see where around you the weather is happening and can track it to see if you are in the thick of things...

That's cool.

So what everyday thing changed for you since you first heard that modem connect you to AOL...

October 23, 2012

I have never heard so many words uttered that meant absolutely nothing at all...

Poof, and it's all gone, a puff of smoke...

And Romeny is no more...

October 19, 2012

I don't know about you, but I have a very personal stake in this election...

You see I have a preexisting condition that is going to ultimately end with a lung transplant.

Now if Governor Romney were to win, he would let the preexisting out for insurance companies to expire, evaporate, go the way of the dinosaur, which ever way you want to say GONE would be all right. That's right, this situation would turn back the touchy feely way of living that hard nosed conservatives don't believe is the American way. These captains of capitalism are double downers on the laws of the jungle.

Now they also want to get rid of my other out, medicare.

So for me, at least, it is personal.

Now I'm no Johnny come lately to the Democratic Party, I've been there since I played HHH in the sixth grade election. Out of all the people I have voted for over the years, there must be thousand, there was only two times I voted for the GOP candidate. Once for a family friend and once because the democrat who was running was a sniveling weasel of a man who made the worst republican look like Gandhi.

So I am Blue through and through.

I am asking people that I know who might be thinking about voting republican think about what would happen to people like me, people who life has dealt a bad hand, people who through no fault of their own, can't fight back. Not all of us can be masters of the universe and let only the fittest survive, most of us just want to get along with a little help now and then from our government.

I ask you this, what's so wrong about that....
