Maybe some help appreciated, but mainly just bitching about browsers...

My primary browser is Opera and the default one for linking from email is Firefox. I also have Vivaldi and Brave installed, and the hated Edge is floating around somewhere. Truth is, I kinda like Edge now that it's a real browser. And Bing brings up a bunch of "interesting" things to play with if you're not in a hurry.

All of them now use the Chrome engine, so I don't need Chrome and more Google shit and spyware, but can use most Chrome extensions.

BUT...

Every single one of them has this horrendous habit of erasing my open tabs when I close it. Fortunately, they keep the history so I can find them again, but Vivaldi even wiped that out for a while until someone noticed. Firefox fixed the problem until the last update, and Opera just started losing stuff. Firefox has a "restore last session" button that sorta works.

In the Settings, they ask if you want to open with the last session of a new session-- every one of them I say save the old session. Opera and some of the others allow you to open a new secure/private session, and sometimes it gets confused and keeps that one instead of the one with tabs.

AAAAARRRGGGHHHH-- WHY DOESN'T THIS SHIT JUST DO WHAT YOU TELL IT TO DO???

My Motorola Android phone does the same thing-- keeps moving stuff around on the screen so I have to chase it. A couple of times it took me so long to find the phone button they hung up.

"Lock screen" must have some secret meaning.

I don't want a vaccine-- I want TREATMENT!!! OK, I'll take a vaccine if they come up with...

a good one, but flu vaccines are always tricky and never work 100%.

However, at 5 million in the US and growing, what we really need is a good treatment regimen.

Sirus/XM 148 is blasts from the past. Last night I was listening to Fibber McGee and Molly...

when the topic of the "upper crust" came up...

"The upper crust is just a bunch of crumbs held together by a lot of dough"

CNN is talking about foreign (Russian) influence on elections. But, more important...

is that US citizens, starting with Trump, have to be actively involved in order to them to have any significant effect.

US security is advising Trump, but he is too

Stupid

Crooked

Traitorous

(take your pick)

to care.

I may have mentioned that I've been homeless and living in my car since last November. But...

that's not the point of this thread.

My county has a system of parks that includes campsites. You can throw up a tent for under $18 a night and get water and showers. RV's and such can have electric hookups.

So, I've been looking for a tent.

Walmart is out of them.

Kmart is closed.

Dick's Sporting Goods is out of them.

Tried a few other places on a whim-- even Aldi, which sometimes has such things.

Nothing, Nada. Some rows of shelves through the stores looked like locusts hit the place. Everyone told me deliveries were almost random. Nobody told them what was coming in.

Finally found a few in Target, of all places. 90 bucks for a Coleman that "sleeps 6" if they are under 4 years old. Anyway, it's perfect, and Dick's or Target have no cots or air mattresses, but Walmart has a selection. Locusts in that aisle, too, but they missed the air mattresses. My point is that stores are not replenishing inventory. I haven't found out if they can't afford inventory, or if it just isn't there. Target has no bicycles on display. None! Walmart has very few. Aldi has empty shelves. ShopRite has some half empty shelves.

Something is happening. What it is I have no idea, but something is happening.

Jerry Falwell Jr. placed on indefinite leave

Source: The Hill

Jerry Falwell Jr., president and chancellor of Liberty University, has been placed on indefinite leave by the institution's board of trustees executive committee.

"The Executive Committee of Liberty University’s Board of Trustees, acting on behalf of the full Board, met today and requested that Jerry Falwell, Jr. take an indefinite leave of absence from his roles as President and Chancellor of Liberty University, to which he has agreed, effective immediately," the private, Christian university said in a statement Friday.

Falwell, who is often in the news because of his support of President Trump, experienced severe backlash last week after posting a picture on Instagram of himself with his arm around a woman on a yacht, both with their pants apparently unzipped. The post was eventually deleted and Falwell apologized, claiming that the picture was “just in good fun.”

Didn't take long.

So, Leticia James is coming down hard on the NRA, and please note...

Civil charges are easier to prove than criminal ones, so she's got them by the short hairs.

Civil charges also allow her to call for dissolving the entire organization, which she did.

She's been known to look into Trump's "charities", so this should have him shitting in his pants more than usual.

"My generals" Sounds like third-world dictator crap. I know it won't happen but I would love...

to hear one of them get up and say "I'm not YOUR fucking general, I'm a US general and you're just biding time in the White House.

BTW, does he know the difference between a General and an Admiral?

Hearing about Barbara Walters' present condition made me think of A. E. Houseman's poem...

To an Athlete Dying Young

BY A. E. HOUSMAN

The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.

Today, the road all runners come,
Shoulder-high we bring you home,
And set you at your threshold down,
Townsman of a stiller town.

Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields where glory does not stay,
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose.

Eyes the shady night has shut
Cannot see the record cut,
And silence sounds no worse than cheers
After earth has stopped the ears.

Now you will not swell the rout
Of lads that wore their honours out,
Runners whom renown outran
And the name died before the man.

So set, before its echoes fade,
The fleet foot on the sill of shade,
And hold to the low lintel up
The still-defended challenge-cup.

And round that early-laurelled head
Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead,
And find unwithered on its curls
The garland briefer than a girl’s.
