An employment question

I have an interview tomorrow, a 40-hr-per-week position with the state's attorney's office. This was advertised as a part-time position. A day after we arranged the interview, the office's HR rep called me to say, "did I tell you that this position is 8:00 - 4:30, but with no benefits?" At the time I didn't think about it. I said, "no, but that's fine."

At first I thought, no insurance. That's fine; I'm on my wife's insurance and wasn't going to use my employer's anyway. But then I realized, this is a government job. I ought to have a state pension.

What do you think?

I dunno. If I get the job, I'm not going to fight it. I need the job. But I am going to keep my ears open for other opportunities there.

With whom was your first kiss? But not just your first kiss . . .

The first kiss that did something for you, that turned you on.

My first kiss was with a boy, Gregg Burgess. I like him because he was a musician. I liked his company. But he wanted more than company, and after seeing "Alien," we sat in his car and necked. I was very uncomfortable with it, but didn't think to put a stop to it.

But my first kiss that made my parts shout, "hey! Hey, we're down here! Make something happen!" was with a woman, Karen Reid, and she became my first lover. In the dorm at Los Angeles Baptist College. I love that part of the story.

Camping Questions - Follow Up

Here is what I've learned of the event.

It is held each year on private land in northeast Connecticut. The campsite is near the parking lot.

I'm told the temp is around 70s-80s during the day and the 50s at night.

There is running water, but I don't know about sinks. There are no showers or toilets (save for a port-a-potty).

I don't know if there's a grocery nearby. However, someone will make a daily ice run, so basics must be nearby.

The camp is for five days (four nights).

I failed to ask today if there's electricity. I'll find out tomorrow. I also have to ask if there's cell reception. I sincerely doubt it.

Camping Questions

Hi. I'll be going camping for the first time in August.

Can you recommend a good and inexpensive (oxymoron?) 4-man tent? What is the best source for tents?

Do I need a sleeping pad if I have a cot?

There will be communal dinners, but I don't know anything about camp cooking. I'll probably take a cooler full of sandwiches for myself. But if I should need to contribute, what should I take to make and share? What's easy but good? And what kinds of pots & pans & utensils will I need? And how will I boil water for tea? Gotta have my tea.

I am looking up answers to these questions as well as posting here. If you can offer any advice besides answers to my questions, I'd welcome it.

Camping Questions
