If I may. Venting.

The exhaustion remains. Cause(s) unknown as yet.

Last week I saw the worst doctor I’ve ever seen. After reading my sleep study, my internist referred me to a pulmonary specialist. He walked into the exam room in a filthy lab coat. Did not introduce himself to me or to my wife. Without a word he sat and began reviewing the sleep study. He asked why I was there. I told him why my doctor referred me. He totally dismissed my doctor’s concern. He talked down to me. He was rude, arrogant, patronizing. And rather than inquire further into the possibly sleep-related cause of my exhaustion, he prescribed a drug to keep me awake during the day. He’s an idiot; if he’d read the chart he’d see I’m on HBP meds. Besides, I don’t want a drug; I want an answer. I’ll never go back.

Now I have an appointment with a pulmonologist/sleep specialist at Georgetown Hospital on October 1.

Meantime, I’m trying to get my blood sugar under control, realizing that my diabetes could also be a cause of exhaustion.

My doc put me on a cholesterol med, a diabetes med, and a massive vitamin D supplement. Can vitamin D deficiency cause fatigue? I don’t remember what she said. (My memory sucks.)

I’m slowly finding ways to cope with this deep body exhaustion. Don’t nap during the day on weekends (that’s hard). Eat celery while driving to keep from drowsing. Things like that.

Thanks for listening.

Unfortunately the sound is very inconsistent. I couldn't watch the whole thing because I couldn't adequately regulate the sound (I am at work). But -- funny!

goofy stuff that comes to me when I'm exhausted

Yesterday I was typing a memo for my boss and ended a paragraph thus: "I will bring these to you with your coffee at 10:30." I never take coffee to any of my bosses, and the memo didn't say the boss needed anything taken to him.

So very, very tired.

Do you do weird things like this when you're tired?

Update on the stealing from Mrs. V.'s mom

OP here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018461024

We won't know until we see the tapes, but things now point to the culprit being her caregiver. Things like mom looking everywhere for her debit card, and Mary (the caregiver) suddenly and quickly coming up with it. "Here it is!" I can imagine her saying. It is hard not to jump to conclusions but I admit I have already jumped.

Mrs. V. is in touch with the local police and they've opened an investigation. She also notified Mary's employer, who will run their own investigation. Even if it turns out that she is not the thief, mom needs someone new. Mrs. V. talked to her mom on Sunday and asked what she'd been doing that day. Cleaning her stove, cleaning the microwave, doing laundry . . . . Those are all Mary's tasks. Those are among her duties. It is not her job, Mrs. V. told her mom, to keep mom company.

Mom is beside herself with worry, though, because she cares about Mary and doesn't want to see her go to jail. It's very sad.

I hope the investigation goes swiftly. Please keep a good thought for Mrs. V., and send her some vibes. She is all torn up about this. She's in a really bad way. Thanks.

I am miserable and don't want to continue this behavior.

I am stuffed to the gills and keep eating. Well, I'm not eating right now, but I can't say what will happen in the next hour - half hour - ten minutes.

Seriously, I feel like I've just consumed Thanksgiving dinner. I'm miserable. But I'm bored to tears, and feeling very vulnerable. This is emotional eating. I know it. But knowing it doesn't help me stop it.

Got any suggestions? This is kinda a hit and run, because I'm working. So I may not reply to everyone, but I guarantee I'll be back to read.

City dwellers: have you ever used Uber taxi service?

I'm wondering if they do short trips.

Someone has stolen almost $1,000 from Mrs. V.'s mother

Several ATM withdrawals of $100-160 since the beginning of the month. Mom is on a very small limited income and can't afford this (who could?!). Mrs. V. doesn't know who's doing it (the card is in Mom's wallet!). She suspects her nephew, unemployed apparently by choice because he is fully able-bodied.

She's going to cancel the card and notify the bank's fraud department. She's hoping she can get pictures of the person(s) making the withdrawals.

Mom is 82 years old and in very poor health. Mrs. V. runs her finances and cares for her as best she can from 500 miles away. There is no one else to care for her. Her son and grandson live nearby but they are both deadbeat assholes; her son gets on the phone and is extremely mean and nasty to her. Her grandson (Mrs. V.'s nephew) makes promises of helping around the house and doesn't show up. Dad's in a nursing home - Alzheimer's.

Mom deserves better. Mrs. V. is in tears and feels helpless.

need help from Google savants

There must be a way to find what I need, but I am seemingly Google impaired. I'm getting limited responses to my search and I'm not creative enough to search in different ways.

I need to rent for one month an electric (not lift) recliner for delivery to Northern Virginia. Can you help?

I got all excited because I found exactly what I needed, and I sent them an inquiry -- and then realized they serve south Florida. Pfft.

Any help you can offer will be appreciated mightily.
