An employment question

I have an interview tomorrow, a 40-hr-per-week position with the state's attorney's office. This was advertised as a part-time position. A day after we arranged the interview, the office's HR rep called me to say, "did I tell you that this position is 8:00 - 4:30, but with no benefits?" At the time I didn't think about it. I said, "no, but that's fine."

At first I thought, no insurance. That's fine; I'm on my wife's insurance and wasn't going to use my employer's anyway. But then I realized, this is a government job. I ought to have a state pension.

What do you think?

I dunno. If I get the job, I'm not going to fight it. I need the job. But I am going to keep my ears open for other opportunities there.

What is your opinion of Linked-In?

I'm trying to decide whether having a profile on that site will help or hinder (or neither) my job search.

CAMPERS: A Towel Question - What Do You Use?

Hi, me again, first-time camper this August!

I'm reading about microfiber ultra compact fast-drying towels. I've also talked to some campers who just use regular bath towels.

What do you use when you go camping?

A question for English grammar geeks

Here's a segment of a sentence in an article I just read:

"he wished someone would have told him"

Should this ought not to be

he wished someone had told him

Thank you.

With whom was your first kiss? But not *just* your first kiss . . .

The first kiss that did something for you, that turned you on.

My first kiss was with a boy, Gregg Burgess. I like him because he was a musician. I liked his company. But he wanted more than company, and after seeing "Alien," we sat in his car and necked. I was very uncomfortable with it, but didn't think to put a stop to it.

But my first kiss that made my parts shout, "hey! Hey, we're down here! Make something happen!" was with a woman, Karen Reid, and she became my first lover. In the dorm at Los Angeles Baptist College. I love that part of the story.

Please, if you like, tell your tale.
