Religious scholars issue unanimous fatwa declaring suicide attacks Haram

ISLAMABAD: Religious scholars from all schools of thought on Saturday issued a fatwa (religious decree) that declared suicide attacks, armed insurgency against a state and use of force in the name of imposing Shariah as ‘Haram’ or forbidden in Islam.

The fatwa carrying signatures of 31 noted scholars was released at a seminar “'Reconstruction of Pakistani society in the light of 'Mithaq-e-Madina' (Charter of Madina) and announcement of 'Paigham-e-Pakistan' (Message of Pakistan). The event was organised by the Islamic Research Institute of the International Islamic University Islamabad.

The unanimous declaration was presented by Professor Masoom Yasinzai while Mufti Rafi Usmani read out the fatwa. The religious edict condemned terrorism and extremism and declared suicide attackers and their supporters as traitors. It also declared Jihad a jurisdiction of Islamic state and disallowed use of force in name of enforcement of Islamic laws.

On the occasion, a unanimous decalartion titled 'Paigham-e-Pakistan', also signed by religious scholars from all schools of thought, was presented. Paigham-e-Pakistan called for action against the forces fanning extremism, true implementation of the law dealing with blasphemy and discouraging mob justice in this regard.

Rector IIU Professor Masoom Yasinzai, President IIU Ahmed Yousuf Darweish, Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, prominent religious scholars, including Mufti Rafi Usmani, Mufti Muneebur Rehman, Maulana Hanif Jalandhari, Mufti Naeem Ahmed and others attended the seminar.

The decree fully backed the operations Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad.

The fatwa was signed, among others, by Mufti Muneebur Rehman, Mufti Rafi Usmani, Maulana Hanif Jalandhari, Mufti Muhammad Naeem, Maulana Abdul Razzak Sikandar, Allama Riaz Hussain Najafi, Maulana Muhammad Yasin Zafar, Maulana Ghulam Muhammad Sialvi, Maulana Zahid Mahmood QasmiMufti Mahmoodul Hassan Mahmood and Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani.

Suicide attacks are forbidden.

Next we can have senior white leaders declare white supremacist attacks on minorities as forbidden. And murder as illegal.

There are always a few who defy leaders' authority. The LDS church banned polygamy long ago....nevertheless some persisted.

The Catholic church declared no conflict between Christianity and Evolution in 1950, nevertheless right wingers persisted to be more Catholic than the Pope.

Comedian Kumail Nanjiani To Graduates: Have Sex With An Immigrant

For a graduation speech to be memorable, it needs to include the usual words of motivation with solid-yet-unique advice. Well, unique is the perfect word to describe the commencement address from Silicon Valley’s Kumail Nanjiani.

With the current, tense political climate, Nanjiani instantly lightened the mood with an interesting suggestion for the graduates of Grinnell College in Iowa: “Have sex with an immigrant,” the comedian said during his speech. “We’re going through a tough time right now, and it would just be really great for morale.”

Nanjiani, who moved from Pakistan to the United States for college, graduated from Grinnell in 2001. Sixteen years later, the Hollywood actor was invited to deliver the commencement speech to the 2017 graduates and to receive an honorary degree as Doctor of Humane Letters.

The 39-year-old spoke about his college experience as an immigrant from Pakistan and explained just how much the move changed his life. “When I came to Grinnell, I was a devout Muslim who had never romantically touched a girl, and I was going to get a degree that guaranteed me a job,” the comedian said. “By the time I graduated, I was basically a Rastafarian with a white American girlfriend and a philosophy degree. College changes you, is my point.”

Setting aside the jokes for a second, Nanjiani also offered the graduates some words of wisdom in a time where prejudice still exists. “We cannot expect others to understand our point of view if we don’t understand theirs,” he said. “It’s uncomfortable and awkward and infuriating and it hurts your brain, but with that pain can come growth and real change.”

Portland's liberal image tempered by history as 'Skinhead City'

Portland, Oregon (CNN)

In this stereotyped mecca of liberal idealism lies a deep-seated subculture that just recently shocked the country: the white supremacist movement in Portland.

Not long ago, that phrase might have seemed oxymoronic. But a recent triple stabbing has cast a spotlight on the city's tensions between the alt-right and the alt-left.

"Portland has a long history of a battle between the right and the left," said Randy Blazak, a professor of criminology at the University of Oregon.

It's a long-simmering conflict that heated up after President Donald Trump's election. And experts say Portland -- like other liberal hotbeds -- could see more conflict in the months to come.

The most recent feud played out both inside and outside a hearing for slaying suspect Jeremy Joseph Christian.

Christian is accused of fatally stabbing two men who tried to protect two African-American girls, including one wearing a hijab, on a Portland light-rail train.

"Go home, we need American here!" Christian shouted at the girls, according to a probable cause affidavit. "I don't care if you are ISIS."

They are aiming straight for the bleeding heart of liberalism apparently. I have nothing against Portland and would love to go there. But it seems like these assholes are targeting very liberal cities guaranteed to spark conflict. Or it is just concentrated in cities because of population density and diversity.

I get way more openly hostile racism in DC than when I lived in Appalachia or the Midwest. In Appalachia I was licked by a blonde girl who wanted to see if I was made of chocolate (I am, and we were in preschool in the 80s). But in DC I have people who think my grandparents deviously came to America so that 2 generations later I would steal jobs away from real Americans the same way Obama's mama put fake newspaper announcements of his birth so he could steal the presidency 40 years later. I'd rather be licked FYI.

Jobs can make some people turn into deplorable racist idiotic monsters who spew lies and resentment. Or it works like drugs and alcohol to just bring out the devil inside them.
