It's entirely possible that someone has rapped Dr. Seuss stories before, but I've never seen it. Now that I have seen it, the rhyming children's classics I've read over and over to my kids are never going to be the same—and not in a bad way.

Filmmaker Wes Tank has taken some of Dr. Seuss's most popular stories and rapped them over Dr. Dre beats in a mashup so perfect it's a wonder it hadn't been done a million times before.

Check out his rap of the tongue-twisting Fox in Sox. If you've ever tried to read this book out loud, you know how challenging it is not to flub, especially the second half. To rap it like Tanks does is an incredibly impressive—and enjoyable—feat.

D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) has enlisted high-profile national figures — including Michelle Obama and celebrity chef José Andrés — to aid the city’s coronavirus response, as the number of covid-19 cases in the District, Maryland and Virginia continues to climb.

The former first lady has recorded robocalls and radio ads reminding Washingtonians to stay home to limit the spread of the highly contagious virus and offering information about testing sites. Andrés is chairing the restaurant committee of the ReOpen D.C. Advisory Group, which will recommend when it is safe to reopen businesses, schools and other establishments.

The group will be led by Susan E. Rice, who served as national security adviser under President Barack Obama, and Michael Chertoff, who served as Homeland Security secretary under President George W. Bush.

“We are dealing with a local, a national and a global pandemic,” Bowser said. “We have called on a great mix of people that embody all of those needs and have all of those experiences.”

Metro’s summer platform rebuilding project, originally scheduled to impact the Orange Line in Northern Virginia, has been expanded to include all Silver Line stations west of Ballston.

Metro plans to take advantage of the lower ridership brought on by the coronavirus pandemic to accelerate its platform rebuilding project, extending this summer’s planned shutdown to nine stations, including everything west of Ballston.

The change to the shutdown schedule, which begins Memorial Day and lasts through Labor Day, means there will be no Silver Line service.

“Closing the stations to get the work done while ridership is historically low allows us to limit the exposure of our front-line staff and contractors, move aggressively on our capital program, and minimize inconvenience to the public,” Metro General Manager Paul J. Wiedefeld said Wednesday.

Metro had originally planned to close three Orange Line stations to rebuild deteriorating platforms at Vienna, Dunn Loring and East Falls Church. Platforms at West Falls Church were also scheduled to be rebuilt.

But with the District, Maryland and Virginia under stay-at-home orders to help stop the spread of the virus and all but essential businesses shut down, the transit agency decided to take advantage of the time to get more work done. Adding the Silver Line stations will allow the agency to do advance work in preparing for the opening of Phase 2 of the line extension, the agency said.

The prospect of reuniting Pink Floyd sounds like a “fucking awful” idea to Roger Waters, but the band is committed to keeping fans occupied during this period of self-isolation. Last week, they launched their new weekly YouTube concert series by streaming 1995’s Pulse. Now, today they’ve unlocked their classic 1972 film, Live At Pompeii.

The 2016 re-edited version of Live At Pompeii, as it appeared in Pink Floyd’s The Early Years box set, will stream on YouTube for free beginning at 12:00 p.m. EDT. But fair warning: The stream will only be active for 24 hours.

With Adrian Maben’s cameras rolling, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, and Nick Mason played songs including “Careful With That Axe, Eugene”, A Saucerful Of Secrets”, “One Of These Days”, Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun”, and “Echoes”.

In 2016, Gilmour returned to Pompeii and performed two concerts, this time with an audience. His performances were later released as their own concert film and live album.

In an early-release research letter in the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases, researchers said they found that 9 people who were sitting near one another at a restaurant in China in January got COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, and that it likely spread because of the restaurant's air conditioner.

The authors advised restaurants to increase the distance between tables and improve ventilation.

As restaurants look forward to reopening, experts say they will need to take extra safety measures, like reducing capacity, having employees wear masks, and capping how long diners can stay there.

Three seemingly healthy families were struck by COVID-19 after dining at neighboring tables in a windowless restaurant in Guangzhou, China, in January.

Researchers studying the case think that the restaurant's air conditioner blew the viral droplets of one person who was asymptomatic farther than they might have normally gone. Nine other people across the three families later got sick.

The researchers described their findings in an early-release research letter published in the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases earlier this month.

It's a frightening prospect for people who are trying to keep a healthy distance from others. However, in a potentially hopeful finding for the locked-down restaurant industry, none of the 73 other diners and eight employees in the restaurant at the time got sick, the researchers said.
