Yes, Donald Trump is in very *real* legal jeopardy

Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large

Updated 11:35 AM ET, Mon February 22, 2021

(CNN)The Supreme Court's rejection of Donald Trump's attempts to keep his tax returns out of the hands of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance is a potent reminder of this fact: The former President is in real legal jeopardy -- on a number of fronts.

In the narrowest aperture what the court's ruling means is that Vance -- and the grand jury he has empaneled to look into hush money payments made in the run-up to the 2016 election to two women alleging affairs with Trump -- will get a look at Trump's most carefully guarded secret: His financial documents.

Which is a blow for Trump -- especially given a) how hard he fought the release of these documents, which include years of tax returns, to Vance and b) what we already know about Trump's involvement in the hush money scheme.

Even Antarctica has wind power

Australia is the first country to get a significant electricity supply for its Antarctic stations, fueled by the most powerful winds on the planet.

The Mawson turbine
The turbine at Mawson is a variable-speed, 300 kW machine, mounted on a steel tower. A computerized power-house management system is vital to the efficient operation of the wind farm. This optimizes the instantaneous wind resource and diesel generator outputs to the station load.

When the wind resource exceeds around 40% of the station load, short-term energy storage systems (such as fly-wheels, batteries or hydrogen powered fuel cells) are used to hold the station load while different combinations of wind and diesel are switched onto the grid.

Antarctica’s environment presented some challenges for designing and constructing the turbine. The fierce Antarctic conditions, with strong, gusty winds and freezing temperatures, can place enormous stresses on wind turbine rotors. Pouring foundations in freezing conditions, minimizing wildlife disturbance, and avoiding icing and wind abrasion all had to be considered. These challenges needed some innovative solutions.

The blades were cast in specialist steel in order to better cope with the cold conditions and avoid metal fatigue. Training in specialized maintenance and servicing of turbines is provided to station staff. The training includes safety aspects of working at heights.

How come the voting machine companies are only suing Trump's lawyers and not Trump himself?

Did Trump not say the voting machines were rigged too?

Most of the talk on news programs today is about McConnell saying Trump is guilty

We lost the impeachment but Trump lost the PR battle badly and McConnell is getting blasted for being corrupt and a slimy politician. As a whole, holding this impeachment was a win for the Democrats. A lot of Republicans are on record supporting the insurection and we got the Senate majority leader saying Trump should be prosecuted.

Would viruses even be able to attack an alien life form?

This never occurred to me but they would need to trick their cells into letting them inside but their cell structure would likely be way, way, way different from ours. Probably a different type of DNA entirely. A virus would not have a clue how to attach onto an aliens cell much less get inside and even if it did it probably would not have the right mechanism to hijack them. They have a hard enough time jumping from one species to another much less an entirely different life form from another planet.

Seems like bacteria and the toxins they release would be more likely do well in a foreign body and cause trouble.
