Quixote1818's JournalI find it suspicious cases in Europe are exploding and not the US.
Isn't travel back and forth from China just as heavy or heavier from the US than Europe? I could be mistaken. However, the lack of testing may mean we are actually more inline with Europe where there are already 20,000 cases. We know Trump is trying to keep the numbers down as he admitted he was worried about a few hundred folks on a ship being added. It just seems odd that Europe is exploding with cases and in the US they are just trickling in unless there is a lot more travel between Europe and China than the US.

I am more worried about a future virus with a higher mortality rate and similar or worse contagion
rate. We have seen some very deadly viruses in the past 20 years that were stopped early but what if they had gotten out of control like this one? I certainly don't feel comfortable with Trump running the show. In fact I can't think of anyone more incompetent than he is for this. China needs to completely change the way their wet animal markets are run! They could wipe out more than half the human race if they are not careful one of these days. This shit is serious! Is there any pressure on China and other countries that run similar wet markets to regulate the crap out of them? If not there needs to be!
This will likely be many, many, many times worse than 9/11 in terms of deaths
and yet Fox News and Trump are acting like it's not much more than an inconvenience. Some projections are suggesting a half a million deaths (vast majority over 80) just in the US which would be 150 times more deadly than 9/11. Had Middle Eastern terrorists spread this virus around instead of it being by accident, can you imagine how over the top Fox and Trump would be right now?
Coronavirus infections in US last night were at 428 and are now already up to 515
By tonight it will likely have grown by over 100 in just one day. It took two months to get to 400 and only a day to add almost 25% to that total. So it seems to be accelerating in the US.

Anyone thinking of fasting for 72 hours to boost their immune system?
Study: Fasting triggers stem cell regeneration of damaged, old immune system
Why does prolonged fasting work so effectively?
Prolonged fasting forces the body to use stores of glucose, fat and ketones, but it also breaks down a significant portion of white blood cells.
During each cycle of fasting, this depletion of white blood cells induces changes that trigger stem cell-based regeneration of new immune system cells.
In their research, the team from the University of California gathered a group of participants and asked them, in the initial stages, to fast for 2-4 days on a regular basis over a period of six months.
This is where they made a remarkable discovery.
There was a noticeable decrease in the production of the enzyme PKA, a hormone which has been associated with an increased risk of cancer and tumor growth. In addition the immune system of the participants appeared to get renewed.
PKA is the key gene that needs to shut down in order for these stem cells to switch into regenerative mode. It gives the OK for stem cells to go ahead and begin proliferating and rebuild the entire system, explained Longo.

New England Journal Of Medicine on Fasting
Evidence is accumulating that eating in a 6-hour period and fasting for 18 hours can trigger a metabolic switch from glucose-based to ketone-based energy, with increased stress resistance, increased longevity, and a decreased incidence of diseases, including cancer and obesity.

Are you spending less and canceling travel plans due to coronavirus?
I wasn't going to cancel a trip back east in June but my family in other states is canceling so now I have to or I will be the only one there. How is this impacting your spending and travel plans?

He will lose the election: Trump won't win 2020 because of coronavirus, Dr Doom economist predicts
Economist Nouriel Roubini, who's nicknamed "Dr Doom" for his pessimistic predictions, has said the coronavirus will stop President Donald Trump from getting re-elected.
The academic is known for correctly predicting the 2008 housing crisis and recession, and he now says the coronavirus could have a bigger impact on the global economy and Mr Trump's presidency than people predict.
"I expect global equities to tank by 30 per cent to 40 per cent this year," Mr Roubini, who works as a professor at New York University's Stern School of Business, told German magazine Der Spiegel last week.
Wall Street saw the worst week since the 2008 recession hit with markets like the DOW, a stock market index that measures the stock performance of 30 US companies, falling 12.4 per cent.
The fall in stocks was due to growing concerns by investors about how the coronavirus would impact the global economy.

Trump is telling people to stay active in spite of coronavirus because he is worried about recession
and losing the election if one comes. He is afraid people will stop buying, stop going out, stop flying etc. So in a shameless, criminal manor, he is putting his re-election above the safety of the US public. I can't think of any other reason he would say something so insane and we know Trump is ALWAYS about helping Trump period!
I doubt if I even needed to point this out because I think it's pretty clear but perhaps some folks here hadn't thought through why he would suggest something so idiotic?
