SHANGHAI (Reuters) - China has published a short animation titled Once Upon a Virus mocking the U.S. response to the new coronavirus using Lego-like figures to represent the two countries.
Washington and Beijing are locked in a war of words over the origins of the disease which emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan late last year and has spread to become a global pandemic.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday he was confident the coronavirus may have originated in a Chinese virology lab, but declined to describe the evidence.
In the animation posted online by Chinas official Xinhua news agency, red curtains open to reveal a stage featuring Lego-like figures in the form of a terracotta warrior wearing a face mask and the Statue of Liberty.
We discovered a new virus, says the warrior.
So what? replies the Statue of Liberty. Its only a flu.
As the warrior issues warnings about the virus and counts off the grim milestones in Chinas outbreak, the Statue of Liberty replies dismissively with echoes of Trumps press conferences in which he played down the severity of the illness.
Are you listening to yourselves? asks the warrior as the statue begins to turn red with fever and gets hooked up to an intravenous drip.

If 50,000 people get covid at a Trump rally...
I really hate people who scream about poor folks looting but don't care about white collar crime
I will never understand why people get so upset about poor people looting but don't seem to care or ever say anything about white collar crime and corporate welfare, which costs the average taxpayer many thousands a year compared to someone who maybe barely can support their kids who takes some clothes or electronics from Walmart. Not saying that is right because it isn't but we know who Jesus hung out with and correct me if I am wrong but it seems like the only time Jesus got super angry was when he turned over the money tables. Proverbs 6:30 "People do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his hunger when he is starving". I personally think someone who came from privilege and has never known want, who finds a way to rip off the banks and taxpayers for millions is a thousand times worse than someone trying to just get buy who takes something. CATO is a conservative think tank and goes into how much the wealthy are ripping us off. Snip: A 2012 Cato report found that the federal government spends about $100 billion annually on corporate welfare. Repealing the spending would save every household in the nation an average of about $800 a year. As for white collar crime: According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), white-collar crime is estimated to cost the United States more than $300 billion annually. Although typically the government charges individuals for white-collar crimes, the government has the power to sanction corporations as well for these offenses.
Conspiracy Theorists Have a Fundamental Cognitive Problem, Say Scientists
The worlds a scary, unpredictable place, and that makes your brain mad. As a predictive organ, the brain is on the constant lookout for patterns that both explain the world and help you thrive in it. That ability helps humans make sense of the world. For example, you probably understand by now that if you see red, that means that you should be on the lookout for danger.
But as scientists report in a 2017 paper published in the European Journal of Social Psychology, sometimes people sense danger even when there is no pattern to recognize and so their brains create their own. This phenomenon, called illusory pattern perception, they write, is what drives people who believe in conspiracy theories, like climate change deniers, 9/11 truthers, and Pizzagate believers.
The study is especially timely; recent polls suggest that nearly 50 percent of ordinary, non-pathological Americans believe in at least one conspiracy theory.
Illusory pattern perception the act of seeking patterns that arent there has been linked to belief in conspiracy theories before, but that assumption has never really been supported with empirical evidence. The British and Dutch scientists behind the new study are some of the first to show that this explanation is, in fact, correct.
