Ivanka Trump's Chinese-Made Products Conveniently Spared From Dad's Tariffs

This kind of things infuriates me on an epic level!

The first daughter doesnít appear to believe in ďmade in America.Ē

Donald Trumpís tariffs on Chinese goods wonít touch Ivanka Trumpís foreign-made products for her fashion line.

While Trump rails at Harley-Davidson motorcycles for moving some production to Europe to dodge EU tariffs, the first daughter and senior White House adviser has never manufactured a single product for her Ivanka Trump brand on American soil.

Trump enacted tariffs Friday morning on $34 billion worth of Chinese goods, affecting hundreds of products from boats to medical devices and auto parts. Products spared include those manufactured by his daughter.

That means Chengdu Kameido Shoes in Sichuan province can continue to supply shoes for the Ivanka Trump brand as it has in the past. Itís currently bidding for a new contract to manufacture 140,000 pairs of shoes for Trumpís company, a spokesman told The South China Morning Post.

Why did they chose to do a civil and not criminal case against the Trump Foundation?

Don't most regular folks doing this see years in prison? Thoughts?

How Class Works -- by Richard Wolff

It should be noted that this video came out in 2014 before we got Trump. Unfortunately, Trump has been able to convince half the country that all our problems are because of brown people so things are just going to continue to get worse.

Republican Presidential cycle of fucking up the economy seems back on track

a. Come into a good economy left by the Democrats
b. Huge tax cuts for the wealthy blowing up the deficit, rich use their tax cuts for stock buybacks mostly
c. Inflation starts to kick in so buying power for regular folks goes backwards. Wall Street takes off.
d. Fed begins raising interest rates because of the inflation (Where we are now)
e. A year or so later a Recession blows up and the deficit skyrockets even higher, American people are devastated
f. Gov. bails out all the big corporations

End result is the wealthy end up a lot richer and everyone else takes a big hit. Dems come in having to spend a lot of money to get the economy back on track, deficit goes up even more because of this and Republicans scream Dems are spending too much. Dems raise taxes back on the wealthy after the economy gets back on track and the deficit begins to drop again. Just as things are getting back to normal to where Dems could start focusing on getting wages up Elections kick in and if a Republican comes in repeat cycle.

Did I miss anything?

Democratic Socialist is an unfortunate name for something that also involves Capitalism

Let's be real, branding is EXTREMELY important and words matter. After Reagan demonized the word liberal Democrats started using progressive out of necessity. I think most here on DU would agree that we need a mix of capitalism and socialism which we already do in many areas but we want to expand the socialist policies into a few more areas like health care, better wages, etc. to balance things out.

Thoughts on a new name candidates could start using that would keep Capitalism in most areas of our wants but expand Socialism into most areas of our needs and allow for more collective bargaining and hopefully use public financing for elections.

How about Social Capitalism? I think Capitalism should be in the name.

The amount of Trump's corruption just now being exposed shows our law enforcement can't keep up

with the ocean of white collar crime in the US. It's taking millions of dollars and tens of thousands of man hours just to find a fraction of what Trump alone has done. Thoughts on some non-profit citizen organizations set up to investigate tips etc. into white collar crime? Think how much money it would save taxpayers.

On another note, this should be a big campaign issue for Democrats. It's not illegal immigrants that are costing taxpayers money and jobs, but all the white collar crime and Trump is one of the biggest offenders. Republicans are framing the issue and Dems are on the defensive. We need to be on the attack that it's not brown people but the fucking orange piece of shit in the White House and those like him that are fucking up the country with all their white collar crime.

Edit for this stat: White-Collar Crime Costs Between $300 To $600 Billion A Year
