Women's Tennis Associations Stand Behind Serena Williams Following Debacle With Umpire

BREANNA EDWARDS Sep, 10, 2018
It’s not news anymore that Serena Williams was treated unfairly by umpire Carlos Ramos during the U.S. Open final on Saturday.

The staggering amount of penalties that Williams received throughout the game that ended in a $17,000 fine, all because she stood up for herself and showed passions that are regularly displayed by most professionals but rarely accepted coming from Black women was shocking and filled with misogynoir…something that Serena herself called out with class, not only while she was on court, but afterward during the press conference.

“You definitely can’t go back in time,” she said at the time, “but I can’t sit here and say I wouldn’t say [Ramos’] a thief because I thought he took a game from me. But I’ve seen other men call other umpires several things.”

“And I’m here fighting for women’s rights and for women’s equality and for all kinds of stuff. And for me to say ‘thief’ and for him to take a game, it made me feel like it was a sexist remark,” she added. “He’s never took a game from a man because they said ‘thief.’ For me it blows my mind. But I’m going to continue to fight for women and to fight for us to have equal [rights].”

Omarosa gives names in Pence's office, who may have written the letter. Trump must be fit to be tied

She names three of the 4 people here and I am not sure I have these right: Bill Stepien, Johnny Destefano, Andrew Bremberg. Maybe she left the 4th one off to keep Trump guessing?

Her exact words were:

"Because these are individuals who have made comments that make me think they could participate in something like this."

This is really great stuff. She just threw them under the bus and now Trump is going to be suspicious of all of those people as being insubordinate toward him regardless of whether they wrote the letter or not. Her doing this has got to be creating chaos there.

This has got to be getting Trump suspicious of EVERYONE in the VP office. Trump is so paranoid I can't imagine any of them lasting and Trump now trusting Pence. Great stuff!

Serena Williams prob correct - Study shows angry men gain influence and angry women lose influence

I didn't watch the match but it would not surprise me at all that she was being treated very differently from men in the sport.

Is Kamala Harris holding back a bombshell that connects Brett Kavanaugh to the Mueller probe?

According to Jennifer Rubin, Harris’ line of inquiry during hearings has observers and White House aides scrambling

In a column for the Washington Post, a conservative commentator highlighted a little-noticed exchange between Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., and Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh that indicated that she is holding back a bombshell that would link President Donald Trump’s appointee to the special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

According to Jennifer Rubin, late Wednesday night Harris asked Kavanaugh about any communications he may have had about the Russia investigation with anyone at Kasowitz Benson Torres, the law firm founded by President Trump’s lawyer Marc Kasowitz.

Kavanaugh replied, “I would like to know the person you’re thinking of,” to which Harris cryptically shot back, “I think you’re thinking of someone and you don’t want to tell us,” which appeared to baffle the judge.

According to Rubin, Harris’ line of inquiry has observers and White House aides scrambling to see what she might have been leading up to.

Is there anything creative, Democrats could attempt to stop Kavanaugh? Shutting down the Gov maybe?

Is there anything that they could try to push this passed the midterms? There should be more of an all out war going on from Dems across the board. We should also be organizing in the streets doing massive protests. I don't think enough is being done. What they did to Obama not to mention Russians the the FBI helping Trump get in by the skin of his teeth? This is all so fucking wrong! He is going to cause MAJOR damage to this country and we need to start thinking creatively and figure out anything we can to possibly stop this. I know it's a huge long shot but we can't go quietly on this.

I don't like many of the conservative Supreme Court judges but if Kavanaugh gets on

He is by far the most repulsive from everything I have seen.

Agree or disagree? If you disagree, then who do you think is worse and why?

If Trump can't find out who wrote the letter, he is going to go slowly mad

Not that he isn't already mad but this is bound to blow his paranoia up to incredible levels. He is already a complete mess with the people who work there as they are miserable and now he will be looking at EVERYONE with skepticism. Was that part of why the letter was written? To push him over the edge?
