Important: Your post misses the point, which is CORRUPTION of democracy.
This will be my last kick to this Third Way talking point thread, but your post needs to be corrected.
We are not talking about "big tents." We are talking about monied corruption of our democracy.
The Third Way does not represent a different part of America. The Third Way represents Wall Street. That is the problem we face: the corruption of representative government of The People by corporate money flooding Washington. It is corporations buying policy.
The DLC, the Third Way...whatever slimy attempt at rebranding they are using these days....was *never* a grass roots movement. It was a planned and deliberate infiltration of the Democratic Party by Wall Street using corporate money, with the explicit goal of transferring the loyalty of the party from voters to Wall Street donors.
We aren't battling other Americans in a healthy democratic process here. The Third Way (and its propaganda machine) is a symptom of the CORRUPTION of our government....its subversion away from a representative system, representation of the interests of the people....into oligarchy, the PURCHASE of supposedly democratic, representative government by a monied elite.

Excellent post you just made. Just look at all those attempts at rebranding.
We all know about the ugly rebranding of the DLC. These manipulators were never a grass roots movement. They have always been a corporate-backed infiltration into the Democratic Party, no matter which name they try to use. Same dirty tricks, same manipulation, same dishonesty, same propaganda machines.
Rebranding is what disreputable corporations do.

The corporate mouthpieces here are still trying to make "Third Way" into an epithet rather than the useful descriptor of policy positions it actually is. That is what authoritarians do: try to discredit language so as to take away the words we need to describe what is being done to us.
Going to threads about important issues like the TPP and the looming renewal of the Patriot Act now, rather than kicking these stale Third Way talking points.
Oh, this talking point again: "YOU CALLED ME A DOG!!!!111!11!"

Rotating villains.
If it weren't this 13, it would have been another 13.
We have seen this con game now for years. The system is deeply and pervasively corrupt. Corporate money pouring into Washington to buy soulless, morally bankrupt predators to pretend to be our "representatives."
They and those who shill for them have sacrificed all claim to human decency or conscience. They are the "hollow men" of our generation. It takes a special kind of moral vacancy to participate in this sellout of democracy and human lives and futures, for the filthy paychecks they receive. There is no honor, none, in these con artists or their shills.

This belongs on the Greatest Page. Actually, it should be pinned to the top of the board
to remind us of the incessant, lying propaganda that has become standard MO of our corrupt government.
Corporations by definition have no interest in representing anyone but themselves. Ditto for corporate governments. They exist to grow their own power and profit. They manipulate and advertise to do that. They build propaganda machines, with utter contempt for the people they claim to represent.
That's why we don't get honest political messaging from corporate politicians.

Empty Third Way claims to care about the 99 percent, while bleating lies about "incrementalism" and fellating the One Percent...
That con game does not fly anymore.
The endless Third Way lecturing to be patient and trust "incremental change" is a rhetorical con game. It is a bid to believe a flat-out lie: that corporate politicians have the same goals we do but are merely moving toward them more slowly and pragmatically.
It is a lie. Third Way politicians and their propaganda mouthpieces do not have the same goals as traditional liberals. They work for Wall Street and corporations, and their purpose is to use slick advertising and manipulation to sell you a product that will increase their own power and profit.
To claim that progress is being made but is merely incremental is overwhelmingly untrue in the most important areas of policy. We are being thrown bones on social issues but inequality has been escalated viciously through policy, the power of corporations is being relentlessly increased, our fundamental civil liberties are being dismantled, journalism is under assault, peaceful protesters are being surveilled and brutally suppressed, whistleblowers are being persecuted, our president has claimed the right to imprison indefinitely and even kill without due process, militarization of our police forces has been expanded, our public education system is being corporatized and even dismantled, corporate power over the internet has still not been denied, and our environment is being opened to drilling and fracking. In addition to all this, this government is engaging in mass surveillance against its own citizens and assaulting us with propaganda and disinformation.
Corporatists have been installed in virtually every area of government by our Democratic president.
The most significant policy proposal on the horizon is the most predatory free trade agreement in history, which will force Americans to compete with workers in Third World countries. It will kill jobs, reduce wages for over 90 percent of American workers, restrict freedom on the internet, make obtaining life-saving medications more difficult and more expensive, and allow multinational corporations to sue for profits and overrule national decisions on everything from wages to regulations for environment and safety. It is an assault on all of us, and it is unconscionable coming from a Democratic president. However, it is wholly consistent with this administration's long record of working on behalf of corporate interests.
Nothing is fixed unless we are honest about what is happening. All the propaganda notwithstanding, more and more courageous liberals are standing up to do just that. Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Robert Reich....the launch of FirstLook....Bill Moyers' excellent work....These are all positive signs.
People who care deeply about this country are telling the truth about what we really are facing...the corporate hijacking of our party and our government....because the rose-colored glasses are malignant. The rose-colored glasses are a corporate lie, and they prevent real change.
"Incremental change" is a Third Way lie.
