The thinking that employers essentially "own" their employees

needs to be rejected, especially in this situation. I don't like the idea that employers can have access to the social media accounts of their employees and can discipline and/or terminate them for off-duty pictures/behaviors/expression of political beliefs. I don't agree with the idea that all employers can make random drug testing a condition of employment unless it appears to be a safety issue with the type of job or is believed to be adversely affecting job performance. I definitely don't agree with what the NFL is doing here either. Taking a knee as a form of protest during the National Anthem is not disrupting anybody or anything and if some fans want to get their shorts up in a bunch over it, that's their problem.

Nobody deserves to be called "animals"

certainly not by the President of the United States but whatever.........If you consider all of Trump's comments about immigrants, starting with calling Mexicans "rapists" during the campaign, it's not really hard to imagine him calling all immigrants "animals". If there is something to quibble about, I doubt that the media actually went out of their way to intentionally misquote him.

So, now Mueller's a would-be "Mob Boss" now? For a stern/disgusted look?

Gawd these people are stupid and horrible- and deserve worse than a stern/disgusted look.

I wonder how the Israeli people feel about this

and how they sleep at night knowing that their country's existence is essentially the lynchpin of the Apocalypse being eagerly anticipated by Christian death cultists?

I agree

It's getting absolutely bonkers. And what's worse is that police departments don't seem to be using their critical thinking skills and screening some of this stuff out from the get go and/or punishing people for making false reports.

Well..........you see......it's like..........ummm........

oh heck! I give up!

There's some kind of internal right-wing "logic" that makes everything Republicans do and say ok, even if it's the opposite of what Republicans do and say or bears absolutely no relation whatsoever to Republicans do and say.

Hopefully, Iran will stay put in the agreement with the remaining countries

and the rest of the world can go on functioning while we work on getting this orange madman out of office and/or at least getting him in a straightjacket until his term is up in 2020. Trump and his minions, by pulling out of these treaties and antagonizing international institutions- for whatever reason(s)-is basically sidelining us and making the US unimportant in the world. Hopefully, the rest of the world understands that, while enough voters voted to put this crazy guy in office, a much stronger majority of Americans did not actually vote for him nor do we support anything he's doing and will (peacefully) fix the problem as soon as we can.

"Both Sides" Journalism

I was reading an article about the ongoing problem of "Both Sides Journalism" or "He Said, She Said Journalism" where we are given lots of information, all it being treated equally, and drawing no definitive conclusions and it really struck me that what we may essentially be seeing is the "Foxification" of the MSM, specifically the MSM has largely begun to promote what Fox News (pretends to) promote with it's infamous tagline, "We report. You decide." Thoughts? Opinions?

Best case scenario

is that we get a more "conventional" President next time and things pretty much go back to "business as usual" (though hopefully we're all paying more attention to what is going on in the WH more) and most people come to historically view Trump as a complete aberration never to be repeated again. Or, worst case scenario, we get a ever-devolving succession of Trump-like Presidents until the WH is literally nothing but a corrupt and dysfunctional joke that is taken serious by nobody here or internationally. The good news is that we have serious and high-minded people on the Democratic/progressive side whom are infinitely more unlikely to be anywhere near as massively incompetent and/or corrupt as Trump and will support and will appoint competent and hard-working people to their Cabinet and do what they can to help advance progressive issues. The bad news is that the Republicans are the only place where Trump and Trump-like candidates can ever hope to find a home and Republicans know how to suppress and otherwise tamper with elections in their favor (and refuse to hold their candidates and elected officials accountable for virtually anything).

Frankly, what I'm worried most is how the Senate is going to look by the time Mitch McConnell is no longer in office or is no longer Majority Leader.

Good question

He seemingly did nothing. And diplomacy? He called Kim Jong-Un "Little Rocket Man" and they apparently discussed giving NK a "bloody nose" and gave everybody here ulcers for a few months wondering if we were going to die in a nuclear war.

I award him no points and may Goddess have mercy on his soul.
