Another Politifact "Politifail"!

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/aug/06/harry-reid/harry-reid-says-anonymous-source-told-him-mitt-rom/

"Harry Reid says anonymous source told him Mitt Romney didn't pay taxes for 10 years"

Politifact's Ruling: "We find no evidence for Harry Reid's claim that Mitt Romney paid no taxes for 10 years. Pants on Fire."

Except that Politifact: a.) Did not fact-check Reid's actual claim because, as we know, Romney hasn't given any tax returns to fact-check and b.) Did not fact-check Reid's claim that an anonymous source shared this information with him.

The major problem is, of course, that the jury is still out on Romney's tax situation because he's barely released any so far, so Reid's claim (or, more correctly, the claim made by this anonymous source) has NOT been proved OR disproved and thus should not be subject to a "Pants on Fire" ruling IMHO.

Romney with a Democratic Congress, yes

Romney with a Republican Fox News Tea Party Congress, HELL NO!!!

The House has barely been in session (Republicans don't seem to like working hard)

since 2010 and they have delivered absolutely NOTHING in regards to jobs- despite them being their reason for running/being elected in 2010. Plus, they're on the record for voting for the Ryan Budget-TWICE!!! Between these two things, as well as the Debt Ceiling fight last year, I can't possibly imagine why they're increasingly unpopular. Good riddance teabaggers!

Romney comes out in favor of "special treatment" for military personnel (re: Ohio early voting)

http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/08/romney-early-voting-ohio-lawsuit-false-attack.php

Seriously, I support the men and women serving in the armed forces but I don't understand why they deserve special voting privileges that nobody else gets? I mean, shouldn't everybody have an equal opportunity to vote? I know that Republicans are probably doing this to increase their share of votes- since members of the military typically lean Republican- but I think that asking Ohio to have to explain why they're singling out military personnel for "special treatment" is perfectly legitimate and IMHO in no way demeans and/or disrespects them.

The right is salivating over the chance to start another war up

this time with Iran as their target despite the fact that nobody really seems to want it here at home (other than the neocons, of course) and I doubt that the majority of Israelis even crave a war (which would likely go regional) with Iran. If being slow to warm up to the notion of attacking Iran over its potential for obtaining a nuclear weapon that, for all intents and purposes, it would be unlikely to use unless its leadership suddenly turned suicidal is grounds to consider somebody insufficiently dedicated to Israel, then I guess I'm glad that President Obama isn't one of them.

The neocons know what war is *good* for: absolutely EVERYTHING. Ra help us if Mitt Romney is elected and has to make any difficult decisions regarding Iran/Israel.

RMoney: “I know the very wealthy are going to do just fine – whoever’s elected”

http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/romney-very-wealthy-are-going-to-do-just

Does Mitt care to explain HOW and WHY the wealthy are going to be "doing fine" no matter who gets elected and nobody else is? Seems to me that that's something that maybe we should be having some kind of conversation about............

BTW this sounds suspiciously like ANOTHER comment that President Obama made that got ripped out of context to smear him with (private sector is doing fine). So, according to Mitt, the very wealthy are doing fine and will continue to do fine no matter what?

"Something dramatic...."

Are they planning to implement the "shock doctrine" on the country (again)?

and I think that he's right that we wouldn't see that happen under THIS President!

I don't know that everybody is

however, every second, minute, hour, day, week, and month they spend going after Reid on this (who BTW is not up for re-election for another 4 years), that's time they're not spending attacking or lying on President Obama. Romney could easily answer Reid's comments if they want to but they apparently believe that the price of releasing the records outweighs the damage rampant speculation is causing him right now. I have a feeling too that Reid knows exactly what he is doing here. With as much on the line as there is, I doubt that Reid would potentially set the Obama campaign up for failure over something like this.

Their shoddy plant maintenance records don't inspire much confidence either.

Yet we're supposed to love our oil industry execs (just as much as we worship our "job creator overlords) and their fluffy "energy independence" PR campaign schtick!

Who knows (for sure)

I think that every day the oil industry execs get together and spin a wheel to decide on what the "reason" for high gas prices is going to be for the day.
