"Project 2025" is already in motion

Project 2025 is becoming more widely known as a potential consequence of Republicans winning in 2025, at least at the national level but, considering the kinds of bills that have been introduced and, in some cases, passed, it seems to me that in hardcore right-wing Republicans in states with supermajorities have already taken the ball and are running wild with proposed policies and laws that are contained within their document, including:

1. Restrictions and attacks on LGBTQ persons, especially Transgender persons
2. Anti-abortion restrictions
3. Voting restrictions
4. Limiting/curtailing democracy in various ways (i.e. states imposing limits on local governments)

Possibly more examples but these are the ones that I came up with in short order.

Is everybody seeing what I'm seeing?

If the immigration problem is so bad and Biden/Harris so negligent about it, perhaps Republicans can explain this?

Biden administration to reopen four ports of entry at southern border

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/biden-administration-reopen-four-ports-entry-southern-border-rcna131998

"On Monday, CBP encountered fewer than 500 migrants in the Del Rio sector of Texas, which includes Eagle Pass. A senior administration official called the number a “significant improvement over where we have been in recent weeks.”

"While it is important to note, as well, that this is the time of year when we normally expect to see encounters decrease over the holiday period, it's also important to note that the closing of ports of entry is something we do as a last resort," the senior administration official said. "It's something that we do not take lightly."

The drop was attributed in part to increased enforcement by Mexico, though no specifics were provided."

Where are the "open borders" that Republicans keep talking about?

Joe Biden Impeachment Looks More Likely After Walmart Confrontations: Comer

Source: Newsweek

"I do. I had a reporter ask, 'What's changed?' I tell you one thing that's changed. A great thing happened during Thanksgiving. The members went home, many of them for the first time, and circulated for the first time in over 10 weeks. And they met people in Walmart and people on Main Street. So they heard from their constituents. They were like, 'What in the world have the Bidens done to receive millions and millions of dollars from our enemies around the world and did they not pay taxes on it?' So they heard from their constituents, 'Yes we want you to move forward, we want to know the truth and expect the Bidens to be held accountable for public corruption,'" Comer said. "So I'm confident we're going to have the votes to move forward with this impeachment inquiry."

Looks like Republicans are taking cues for impeaching Biden from their "Walmart constituents"?

They've given up fighting for hearts and minds

Now they’re just doing what they can legally and politically to suppress everything and everybody they don’t like.

Republican politicians say a lot of insanely dumb things

but saying that Rep. Jamaal Bowman intentionally (or not) pulling a fire alarm yesterday is somehow equivalent to J6 has got to top even some of their more asinine claims. 🙄😑🤦🏻?♀️🤪

Disappointed by reactions to Feinstein's passing

Not speaking of DU, but a lot of social media today has seemed rather disrespectful/dismissive towards Feinstein and ageist in general, with many people complaining about her dying in office. While there is a reasonable debate to be had about age limits for politicians, and even I came around to supporting her resignation (and McConnell’s), it just seems tacky to me for people to make this issue the whole discussion about her life and legacy. Anybody else feel the same way?

Fixing the migrant problem

Depends on all states working together with the Federal Government to tackle the issue and figure out a good way to handle the issue, not busing migrants all around the country with no coordination or plan just to score political points. Democrats have time and time attempted to address the issue while Republicans refuse to lift a finger and want to throw migrants right back over the border or punish them severely if not kill them for the “crime” of trying to enter our country without proper processing and politicize the issue. Until there is full cooperation I just don’t know what we should do. I don’t think Republicans want to solve the issue bc like with Abortion they crassly just use it for votes every election. Or they fear trying to do anything bc they’re afraid they’ll be accused of supporting “amnesty” and be primaried.

Wow.

We’re really going to have to re-litigate the entire 20th century, aren’t we?

September 2, 2023

I don't understand it either

Seems like a lot of MSM/Republican-generated “concern trolling”, just like Biden’s age concerns. Republicans genuinely don’t want to have to run against Biden and the MSM seems to be feeding into their smears against Biden.

+1

I would think that wanting to have a less dystopian more optimistic future where we don’t all have to live in a white Christian nationalist theocracy would be inspiring enough for most people, especially the young, but what the hell do I know?
