Republicans seem to be the only ones whom are concerned about certain things and have been deluded into believing by the amount of coverage such things get on, say, Fox News, that the vast majority of the country feels the exact same way, when polling and electoral results consistently reveal the exact opposite view. They live in a self-imposed bubble where "the way things ought to be (according to them)" ain't the way things actually are. And they also seem to think that being cruel is the way to be, even though most people aren't
We need "Sore Loser" laws
to prevent this kind of stuff from happening, maybe some kind of law that prevent changes to agencies with elected officials within an election cycle (at least). It just seems really wrong and anti-democratic that one party can just immediately and arbitrarily kneecap/take away power from agencies with elected officials just because they lose control of them. I believe that this has become a particular trend with Republicans. They did it to our Superintendent of Instruction here in Indiana a few years when a Democrat unexpectedly won the office.
I'm not a huge fan of the military (in general)
BUT:
1. We need new recruits
2. America is an increasingly diverse country with people from different races, ethnicities genders, sexual orientations
3. Limiting who can serve for reasons other than general physical or mental fitness is stupid and shortsighted and will negatively affect the military's ability to recruit from an increasingly diverse pool of people and support them once they're there.
4. The military can do multiple things at one time and there's absolutely no evidence that promoting/ensuring diversity harms the military. We did away with racial bans decades ago, DADT 12 years ago and the Trans military ban 6 years ago (more or less given Trump's attempts to walk us backwards on that) and the sky hasn't fallen to anybody other than right wingers.
5. Supporting diversity within the ranks can only help improve unit morale and cohesion.
This is great
but when is somebody going to confront and argue the forced pregnancy/pregnant people endangering/childbirth/slavery angle? Not only do these near total restrictions force pregnant people to carry pregnancies that they might not want, essentially making them slaves as forced incubators by the State, but evidence is piling up about how pregnant people are being endangered medically by them because hospitals and doctors are worried about legal liability if they terminate a pregnancy unless a pregnant person is literally on death's door, a situation that should be unacceptable and abhorrent to all of us.
Not to mention
that they refuse to submit to subpoenas and fight all the way to the top to avoid having to answer questions in criminal investigations. Plus, they support and/or minimize the actions of the 1/6 attackers, and refuse to hold Trump accountable in any way. They're actively aiding and abetting criminals and some are even celebrating would-be political assassins. When they talk about crime and are blaming Democrats, they're standing on quicksand.
