Months of attacking some sort of "deep state conspiracy of satanist pedophiles", creating a cult-like army of followers, making grandiose promises of Trump making mass arrests of Democrats, and getting people to, I guess go into a suicide oath with "where we go one, we go all", already whipping up some fanatics to violence, the "storm" has arrived with QAnon attacking...
A random woman?
But disturbingly, the QAnon poster refocused the subject of their cryptic posts away from the deep state and the ever-approaching Great Awakening and onto individual people. First came a series of portraits of Obama-era officials that followed posts referencing words like kill and ammunition. This came just days after the 8chan-driven massacre in Christchurch, New Zealandand the posts were seen by many as a kind of hit list.
But after that, Q became hyperfocused on one particular person, and its someone that has no political footprint whatsoever: a photographer and casting director named Rachel Chandler, a member of the newspaper-dynasty Chandler family.
It's quite clear that "QAnon" is stalking this woman, and take a look at this...
Red flags everywhere. Enlisting others, impersonating an authority figure, implied and literal threats, a fascination with violence, upcoming dates, talking about "suicide watch", etc. Now all pointed at her.
This QAnon person is a stalker and the target is this woman, she interacted with this QAnon person in some minor way that for everyone else would just be an interaction with someone on the street that we forget about, maybe she hired him to do something for him and gestures we see as normal, QAnon is fixated on now, seeing as signs of something else.
We need to call this out, this isn't right. It's bad enough when the far right makes conspiracy theories about "the libs" and everything being "socialist", but now to involve some non-political woman? It's crazy, we need to reject this, this should not be the new normal.
Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, one of the first two Muslim women in Congress, accused President Trump on Saturday of inciting hatred of Islam and inspiring attacks like the killing of 50 people last weekend in a mass shooting at mosques in New Zealand.
In a speech to a packed hotel ballroom at a Muslim civil-rights banquet in Woodland Hills, the newly elected Democratic congresswoman said the New Zealand attack by a white supremacist fit a pattern of threats and assaults at American mosques and schools.
We all kind of knew that this was happening, she said. But the reason I think that many of us knew that this was going to get worse is that we finally had a leader in the White House who publicly says Islam hates us, who fuels hate against Muslims, who thinks it is OK to speak about a faith and a whole community in a way that is dehumanizing, vilifying.
Trump, she told the crowd, doesnt understand, or at least makes us want to think that he doesnt understand, the consequence that his words might have. Some people like me know that he understands the consequences. He knows that there are people that he can influence to threaten our lives, to diminish our presence.
There was also a protest of her that she addressed in her remarks, she said There are thoroughly fascinating people outside who for so many years have spoken about an Islam that is oppressive, an Islam that lessens and isolates its women, and today they gather outside to protest a Muslim woman who is in Congress, she said. The irony in that is very entertaining to me."
Very entertaining indeed.
The USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism announced this week that ProPublica reporter A.C. Thompson is the winner of the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism in the category of Individual Achievement by a National Journalist. Thompson was recognized for Documenting Hate, a two-part documentary made in partnership with Frontline.
The documentary outed some of the most violent figures within Americas resurgent white supremacist movement, as well as the movements links to the U.S. military and governmental failures to curb the criminal activities of dangerous white power groups. The investigation identified former and active-duty members of the military as members of Atomwaffen Division, a neo-Nazi group.
Within weeks of the report, the Marine Corps announced that it had opened a criminal investigation into the activities of Lance Cpl. Vasillios Pistolis, whom the documentary identified as an Atomwaffen member who took part in the Charlottesville, Virginia, demonstration in August 2017. Pistolis was later convicted at a court-martial on charges of disobeying orders and making false statements, and he was dismissed from the Marines.
ProPublica and Frontline also reported on the Rise Above Movement, a white power gang. As a result, Michael Miselis, an aerospace engineer with a government security clearance identified as a member of RAM, was out of his job at defense contractor Northrop Grumman. Federal authorities eventually arrested Miselis and seven other members or associates of RAM on rioting charges, citing the reporting of ProPublica and Frontline.
Congratulations... and let's all stay safe out there.
Remember how they think MS-13 is some sort of existential threat to the United States?
Remember the President with the policies in the US and Latin America, El Salvador in particular, that gave rise to MS-13?
Remember the President Republicans practically deify (After Trump now)?
So who created MS-13?
"___ CREATED MS-13!"
Let's all say it together!
I'm not just on DU, I also edit Wikipedia.
And did you know that there was not even a category on white nationalist terrorism until yesterday? The thing that Trump tells America to go to sleep over? I made it, oh and I populated it... it was ugly, and it reveals some ugly truths. My personal policy is I don't get into edit wars, if people want to remove pages from categories I put them in, they can do it and I won't stop them.
Apparently that personal policy wasn't enough to protect me as I was put in editing jail for a while for my 'radical' and 'disruptive' editing.
I like impressing people, I have always done what my parents say, I try to be a good role model, if my bosses say jump, I ask 'how high?' I don't disobey or get in trouble, I've never even been arrested before, but this...
It strangely feels good, it was worth it. I'm actually smiling as I'm looking over the notice that I've been blocked.
The category is still up by the way:
If you edit Wikipedia yourself or want to, please help protect this category in the event that someone, some group of people, or an organization tries to delete it entirely or tries to do it through pretty much deleting everything in there. Wikipedia IS a resource, pretty much a public good on the internet. Also if you genuinely find examples of white nationalist terrorism, terrorists, terrorist groups, symbols and propaganda, I know I missed things, please add them.
This was a better use of my time than being angry at you all, so if you can help me out, it would be great.
... but don't be afraid to get in trouble every once in a while. We're going to need more troublemakers if we're going to defeat this poison.
No longer just put down to minority status.
Defanged, discredited, debunked, defunded, disorganized, lose their mailing lists, kicked out of office space, made fun of on the street, banned from social media, can't call a cab, and so on. Destroyed.
Even when they got Trump in as President, I thought they were still a legitimate 'other side of the aisle', I continued thinking this when they started calling things like not wanting to get shot in school or wanting to get vaccinated as "socialism" saying to myself "It's just a crazy fringe", but when they looked at Christchurch and started saying "It happened to make us look bad! We're the real victims here!", I can't do that anymore.
If it's my country's legitimacy or the GOP/right wing's legitimacy and right to power, the choice is clear.
I am withdrawing my consent to the Republican Party governance of the federal government.
Anyone else find it odd that Trump threatens to deploy tough military, police, and biker gangs against Democrats but not against white nationalist terrorists?
What's the matter? Are his tough guys too chicken to go against guys who are certain to shoot back? Or is it because they have the same skin color and similar politics? Or maybe a little bit of both?
Between Trump's tepid and meaningless non-statements after what happened in Christchurch following his threat of roving biker gangs and Kellyanne Conway pretty much saying "NO U" to the media, I'm sorry but the last credibility of the executive branch has flickered out... Everything from George Washington, to FDR, and Barack Obama has done to set the Oval Office up as some sort of symbol ALL Americans can get behind and people around the world can see as a beacon is in irreparable tatters because of this one man-child.
It's time for us to start publicly saying the President is just someone who signs legislation and someone to blame when the economy goes south, that he doesn't speak for us or for our country, and let's find some other symbol to get behind, some other 'face' for our country. Someone else in another branch of the government, a scientist, an ideal, a religious leader, a group, a celebrity... anyone or anything would be better now.
I'm sorry, but this White House is tainted and no amount of reform will make it better. So I'm done with it.
Can politicians and pundits at least get a thesaurus or is wanting that going to be "socialism" too?
I think we all get it; not wanting to get shot in school is "socialism", valuing human lives over profit margins or confederate statues is "socialism", caring about the environment is "socialism", not seeing billionaires as man-angel hybrids is "socialism", getting vaccinated is "socialism", and having the toilet paper over the roll instead of under is definitely "socialism"...
But are there other words they can use for things they don't like?
of Arabs with nuclear weapons and then he become "President for life" of the United States.
I also remembered THAT when the Center for Security Policy became connected to the push to smear and attack Rep. Ilhan Omar.
But wait, there's more!
Remember Elliott Abrams? The man that Rep. Ilhan Omar had a come to Jesus meeting with over El Mozote on the House floor? (Oh wait, can't say that either because talking about Muslims and Jesus is also a horrible thing I bet... even though Muslims... also... believe in Jesus)
Turns out, he himself was on the advisory council for the group at one point (And this connection was even pointed out in the post I wrote back in 2007). He gave Gaffney's insane group an air of legitimacy, and they're repaying the favor. Interesting how nobody's decided to disclose that little gem when we heard about this bunch of groups sending a letter about her, and it seems like, I don't know, a conflict of interest.
Time to call it out.
