Where economic justice and feminism intersect

To me, these two go hand in hand. You can't have feminism without economic justice, and you can't have economic justice without feminism.

Either we are all equal, and aspire towards an egalitarian society, or we're all slaves, simply put.

But I think the point where they really intersect is when it comes to jobs, and hiring practices in general.

Everybody knows women make less than men for the same job, despite performance or knowledge. A meritocracy the US ain't.

So as a result of this myth of needed austerity, men are more likely to be laid off than women, just by virtue of their pay. This may seem like ironic justice, but it isn't.

What it says is: Yes, women work just as hard as men, and yes we pay them less. And no, we aren't going to change this.

Your thoughts?
