louis c's JournalThe Math on the Trump Tax Plan Doesn't Add Up
I'm not talking about just the fiscal math. I'm talking about the political math.
The Republicans out number the Democrats 241 to 194 in the US House of Representatives. That means if 24 Republicans vote against the bill, or any part of the bill, it will fail.
There are 39 Republicans from just California, New York, Illinois and Michigan. All these states have a pretty hefty state income tax and property tax.
If that deduction goes away in order to finance the rate cuts for the wealthy and new deductions, like the elimination of the estate tax, holding on to them will be impossible.
I'm sure that this measure has a negative effect on many other states with Republican Congressmen, but if only 24 of these 39 vote against this amendment, it will fail.
That's not counting the deficit hawks in the Republican Party who may start working against this bill.
Roy Moore Defeats Luther Strange in Alabama Senate Race
The Washington examiner is reporting
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Roy Moore defeated Sen. Luther Strange on Tuesday in a closely watched special election for an Alabama Senate seat, as frustrated Republican voters rebuked their party's leadership in Congress for failing to repeal Obamacare and deliver other marquee promises.

To All Those Trump Supporting Right Wingers Who Abhor Political Correctness
isn't standing for the National Anthem the ultimate in being "politically correct"?
How will history judge the NFL players and Trump?
How will history judge the NFL palyers and Trump?
I don't know, but let's look at a similar situation.
I was born in 1952, so I remember Cassias Clay and later, when he became Mohammad Ali.
Ali was demonized in the press and had the President of the United States vilifying him for his stance against the Viet Nam war. He was stripped of his heavyweight boxing title and prohibited, by law, from plying his trade to earn a living.
The Supreme Court later voted 8 to 0 against the U.S Government and vindicated Ali.
History has proclaimed Mohammad Ali a hero, not only in his sport, but also as an American. And history has proclaimed Richard Nixon, who headed the government that persecuted Ali, as a fucking no good piece of shit.
I contend that History, when looking back at the NFL players and Donald Trump, will come to the same conclusion.
Could Trump's Failed bid for Buffalo Bills be the Reason for his NFL Implosion?
Back in the Fall of 2014, Citizen Trump was trying to buy the NFL Buffalo Bills. he lost out on that bid.
I think we should explore the possibility that the thin skinned, orange asshole could have held a grudge for the intervening 3 years and blurted out his venom in the Alabama speech this past Friday night.
Here is a sample of the news story at the time (Oct. 13, 2014), a small snippet and his accompanying tweets back in 2014. An interesting read and an interesting theory.
<snip>After a bidding war that saw Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula become the new owner of the Buffalo Bills for a whopping $1.4 billion, Donald Trump, the other would-be owner, took to Twitter to voice his displeasure.
The string of tweets was rife with bargaining and backhanded compliments.<snip>

Adolf Hitler Underpants Auctioned for $6,737
My question is, "will Donald Trump submit to a DNA test to see if there is any relationship?"
<Snip>THE REICH FIT Adolf Hitlers underpants have been sold for £5,000 at an auction in the US

THE 'pristine' underpants of fearsome führer Adolf Hitler have sold for £5,000 at an auction in the US.
The brutal dictator's briefs, which have a 'surprisingly large' 39-inch waist and are initialled 'A.H.', were left behind in a suite at the luxury Parkhotel Graz <snip>

I'm Here to Defend the American Flag
In my opinion, freely expressing your political views is as American as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, and that includes sitting, standing or kneeling during the National Anthem.
No, what's really dishonoring the American flag is holding traitors up as heroes by erecting statues to men who took up arms against that flag. Men who desecrated that flag and everything it stood for, including freedom.
No, the people who show the least regard for America are those people who display a Confederate Flag, the flag brought into battle during a rebellion against the duly recognized Government of the United States, and the flag that represented that sovereign nation.
Before assholes like Donald Trump try teaching us about patriotism, perhaps they should have more than just a rudimentary understanding of American History.
Has Trump Violated the Constitution on his Statement to Fire NFL Players?
Donald Trump is the executive branch of the United States Government.
The first Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law abridging the Freedom of Speech". Through many years of precedent, "Congress", has been interpreted by the courts to mean the entire government "shall not abridge the freedom of speech" of American citizens.
The President*, any President, has every right to disagree with anything anyone says. But he (or she) cannot threaten anyone, directly or indirectly, for the free exercise of that right.
Me or you (as long as we don't have authority in the US Government) can absolutely call for the firing of anyone for saying anything we disagree with, but a government official, especially the President, can not.
The NFL and ESPN are regulated by the US Government in many areas. The Chief Executive, or his spokeswoman, calling on the firing of any individual for exercising his or her free speech is an obvious violation of the first amendment, in my opinion.
McCain to Trump: "Fuck You....Again"
There is no question in my mind that Senator John McCain hates Donald Trump's guts.
It's my contention that McCain came to Washington in July to cast the procedural vote necessary to move to the formal vote so that McCain could say "fuck you" in the most dramatic fashion. I guess revenge is a dish best served cold.
I think this time, the Arizona Senator gave an early "fuck you" in deference to his friend, Lindsey Graham in order to reduce the embarrassment to his long time ally. Even this friendship was not enough to change McCain's vote, but enough to ease the pain.
I think that McCain and his daughter, Meaghan, hate Trump so much, that when the long time war hero and Senator passes, Trump may not even be invited to the funeral. If the President* is, he certainly will not be allowed to speak. In fact, my bet is that former President Barack Obama may very well do the eulogy.
If the old adage that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", then John McCain is my best friend. I thought nobody could hate Donald Trump more than I do, but apparently John McCain does.
"Making America Great Again"
I wonder if President* Trump will mention this in his next speech?
