Young People Suing Their Government Over Climate Change Just Won Another Big Case

A group of teenagers who sued the Massachusetts state government over its failure to adequately address the threat of climate change won a major court case this week, adding to a string of victories for young activists.

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled in favor of the four young plaintiffs on Tuesday, agreeing that the state Department of Environmental Protection was not making good on its goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The court ordered the agency to produce and implement stronger and more expansive regulations that lead to the “type of mass-based reductions in greenhouse gases” that the state legislature called for in a 2008 law.

“This is an historic victory for young generations advocating for changes to be made by government,” 17-year-old plaintiff Shamus Miller said in a statement. “The global climate change crisis is a threat to the well-being of humanity, and to my generation, that has been ignored for too long.”

The verdict in Kain v. Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection comes just weeks after another group of young people forced Washington state to craft science-based emission rules this year. The King County judge there ruled that the urgency of climate change and the government’s responsibility to protect citizens required that the state Department of Ecology be held to a deadline.

Establishment Collectively Stunned To See Citizens Reject Rigged Democratic Primary

Democratic Party leaders accuse Bernie Sanders and his presidential campaign of inciting “violence” among supporters by promoting allegations that the primary process is rigged in favor of his opponent, Hillary Clinton. Surrogates for Clinton and pundits, who favor Clinton, have ramped up their attacks on Sanders for maintaining a robust campaign, even though the last votes have yet to be cast in the primary.

Much of the pressure to rein in supporters stems from a belief that Sanders no longer has a right to run in the primary, and that he is now a spoiler candidate in the race. The pressure has ramped up in the aftermath of the chaos at the Nevada State Democratic Party’s convention, which was largely provoked by how it was handled by chairwoman Roberta Lange.

For example, The New York Times published a report with the incendiary headline, “Bernie Sanders, Eyeing Convention, Willing to Harm Hillary Clinton in the Homestretch.” It suggests Sanders intends to inflict a “heavy blow” on Clinton in California and “wrest the nomination from her,” despite the reality that she has not clinched the nomination.

Clinton surrogates, pro-Clinton pundits, and cable news television hosts (with the exception of MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mike Brzezinski) contend there is no evidence that the primary is rigged against Sanders. Senator Barbara Boxer said on CNN, “To his supporters who are grousing about the fact that everything is rigged, it’s not rigged. You know, we’ve had elections. Hillary has more votes. And Hillary has more delegates, not even counting superdelegates.” Tamron Hall, an MSNBC host, haplessly mixed sports metaphors and said, “This is the game of football, and now you want to change it to soccer. The rules have been in place,” and, “You’re in the last inning. What about the votes that Hillary Clinton earned?”

Is is just me...or has a whole bevy of international news correspondents

moved in and set up camp at DU? It's like we are running news bureau right out of here. (None of it bearing on actual importance to US citizens to any extent. More like a propaganda outlet is trying to dilute our news around here). Anyone have any thoughts?

Behold! I have discovered the true numbers — and no one is reporting them! Google’s primary results and the Guardian’s primary tracker (both of which receive their numbers from the Associated Press) both show that Bernie Sanders has won 320,746, out of 572,485 total votes. Both of them also show that Sanders, so far, has 56.0% of the vote. The Guardian says 95.5% of the vote is in and Google has rounded that up to 96%. I am writing you today to tell you that they are both full of — um, well — let’s just say that they’re lying!

According to the Guardian, all counties have 100% of precincts reporting, except for Multnomah County (which has the largest population), which they report with only 77.7% of precincts reporting — but remember:

We don’t have precincts.

The Oregon BoE confirmed for me that, indeed, Multnomah county has quite a bit of counting left to do. And, according to Multnomah County Elections Divisions, they have so far confirmed that they’ve received:

185,723 out of 269,994 ballots sent out — and counting!

Why Clinton’s Claim Of Having 3 Million More Votes Than Sanders Is A Total Lie

In an article posted to the New York Daily News, Activist and writer Shaun King made a startling revelation which could change the way we view the entire Democratic primary race.

Since the tide has turned in the direction of Hillary Clinton, the candidate has put much emphasis on her apparent lead in the popular vote. According to Hillary Clinton, she leads Sanders by more than 3 million votes nationwide. This is the number that we hear cited commonly at events and in corporate media. This number helps to give legitimacy to Clinton’s campaign in the face of Sanders’ populist message. Though Sanders may complain about how the system is rigged and wonder why Superdelegates aren’t more loyal to their constituency, Clinton has always had the power of the popular vote behind her.

But what King revealed in his groundbreaking article is that the 3 million vote advantage Clinton holds is a lie.

This is due to the fact that primary races don’t just feature voters going out and casting a ballot. Instead, several states opt to hold caucuses where a group of representatives vouch for their candidate. The candidate with the most representatives in the room wins in that district, and the candidate which wins the most districts is the winner of the state.

I keep seeing this meme floating around "Those Superdelegates won't switch!".

It will sure be interesting to compare and contrast the difference in votes between the Corporate Delegates (lobbyists, etc) as compared to a Traditional Delegate.

Barbara Boxer's actions both during the Nevada convention and after can easily

be explained in my mind. She is not only furthering the meme coming out of Camp Clinton that she is winning and viable, but also is a direct gas lighting attempt at Sanders and his supporters.

It can easily be explained as: She fully expects to be one of the 50% Women appointed to Cabinet positions- along with DWS.

It sure will be hard to court me if I have you on ignore. nt
