silvershadow's JournalI am sitting here listening to an end-times preacher right now on Trinity...He is mixing religion
and politics. Just weaved all of the Kennedy's, John, Robert, and Teddy into his sermon. Got some real laughs out of the crowd. Beyond that, the whole sermon is just seething with politics. It's really not much of a biblical sermon, but more of a political one. Pathetic.
Al Gore: GOP Guilty Of 'Political Terrorism'
Former Vice President Al Gore said the GOP is guilty of "political terrorism" because of those who are threatening a government shutdown over Obamacare.
The only phrase that describes it is political terrorism, Gore said Friday, speaking at the launch of the Brookings Institutions Center for Effective Public Management in Washington. Why does partisanship have anything to do with such a despicable and dishonorable threat to the integrity of the United States of America?
And now you want to threaten to not only shut down our government but to blow up the world economy unless we go back and undo what we did according to the processes of this democracy? Gore said, referencing the Affordable Care Act. How dare you?
Gore also joked that he's a "recovering politician."

Watching the Senate International Narcotics Control Caucus from Wednesday on CSPAN2...Noted:
While a Senator Klobuchar I think it was was talking about reasonable and prudent things like getting pharmacies to take back unused prescription drugs, she was followed by DiFi, who is gunning hard for marijuana farms. It's reefer madness in California, to hear her go on and on. Armed guards. It *all can't be for medical marijuana, she says. Granted, I'm not in California, and there may be a few problems, but it just struck me as something straight out of a 60's "educational" film that we were shown in the 70's at school, complete with the psycho swirls of paisley wafting though the room, but where people are gunned down like they were in a school or shopping mall. Just out of touch. She has to go.
Tried tuning in to The Ted Cruz Amateur Hour...
I just can't stomach it, much as I tried. Apparently I have seriously overestimated the bar not only for public office, but also for law school.
WATCH: Father Forcefully Ejected From Town Hall Forum for Asking Common Core Question
A father in Towson, Maryland, was forcefully ejected from a local town hall forum for asking the wrong question.
Robert Small had concerns over the Common Core education initiative, feeling that it was dumbing down the curriculum in his local school district.
"My question is, how does lowering America's educational standards prepare kids for community college?" asked Small, before soon being approached by a security guard who was also an off-duty cop and being dragged away from his seat.
The outspoken father then implored the crowd to take action. "Don't stand for this," said Small. "You're sitting here like cowards. You have questions!"

Study finds increased cancer risk in Gulf spill cleanup crews
Workers exposed to the spill have "significantly altered blood profiles"
BY LINDSAY ABRAMS
The workers called upon to clean up BPs mess in the wake of the 2010 Gulf spill are at an increased risk for blood-related disorders, including cancer, a study found.
The research, which was published in the American Journal of Medicine, found that compared to those who had not been exposed to crude oil or the chemical dispersants used to clean it up workers displayed significantly altered blood profiles, liver enzymes and somatic symptoms. Put together, the researchers told Fuel Fix, the signs indicate a number of potential health problems:
The workers had decreased levels of blood-clotting platelets, as well as lower numbers for blood urea nitrogen and creatinine, which are indicators of kidney health.
The amount of three liver enzymes alkaline phosphatase, aspartate transaminase and alanine transaminase in the cleanup workers blood also was higher than the non-exposed patients, a warning sign of liver dysfunction and damage.

Here's Why Dropbox Has Been Opening Your Private Documents
When you post certain types of private documents to Dropbox and tell Dropbox to share them with no one, Dropbox itself will still open them up and take a look.
It does this in order to make a "preview" version of the document, the company says.
The fact that Dropbox is opening documents came to light when security expert Daniel McCauley, who writes for WNC InfoSec Blog, was playing with a new service called HoneyDocs. It tags a document and then privately tells you every time someone opens it.
McCauley wanted to see if cloud storage documents were being viewed in ways he didn't know about. So he uploaded a bunch of files to his Dropbox account.
Lo and behold, Honeydocs told him that all of the documents with a ".doc" extension had been opened.

Jon Tester Would Vote Against Larry Summers For Fed Chair
Source: Huffington Post
WASHINGTON -- Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) will vote against Larry Summers if President Barack Obama nominates his former economic adviser to head the Federal Reserve, Reuters reported Friday, citing Tester spokeswoman Andrea Helling.
Three progressive, bank-reform oriented senators are already expected to oppose Summers if he is nominated: Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). All three serve on the Senate Banking Committee, which would have to approve any nominee for Federal Reserve chair before sending the vote to the Senate floor, as does Tester. Since Democrats only have a two-vote majority in the committee, Summers would need to pick up Republican support in the committee in order for his nomination to advance.
Tester has close ties to the bank lobby and is generally viewed as a moderate Democrat. His opposition suggests division within the banking community over a Summers pick, a scenario that would hamper Obama's ability to win over reluctant lawmakers.
Democratic leadership in the Senate have warned Obama that a Summers nomination will result in a "very tough" confirmation fight, according to a Senate Democratic aide familiar with the effort.
