WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama on Monday honored those killed in a weekend attack at two Jewish facilities in Kansas, saying no one should have to worry about their security while gathering with their fellow believers.
Obama noted that synagogues and temples across the country are taking extra security precautions following the shooting, adding: “No one should ever have to fear for their safety when they go to pray.”
The president spoke during an Easter prayer breakfast at the White House and vowed that the government would provide whatever is needed to support the investigation. He urged Americans to stand united against “religious-based” violence.
“As Americans, we not only need to open our hearts to the families of the victims, we’ve got to stand united against this kind of terrible violence, which has no place in our society,” Obama said. “We have to keep coming together, across faiths to combat the ignorance and the intolerance, including anti-Semitism that can lead to hate groups and violence because we are all children of God.”
Three people were killed Sunday when a gunman opened fire on a Jewish community center and Jewish retirement complex near Kansas City. The man accused in the shooting is a well-known white supremacist and former Ku Klux Klan leader who was once the subject of a nationwide manhunt. Officials were investigating the attack as a hate crime, although two of the victims, a man and his grandson, were not Jewish and were at the community center for a singing competition, relatives said.

Longtime Anti-Semite, Arrested in Kansas Jewish Community Center Murders
Frazier Glenn Miller, 73, of Aurora, Mo., was arrested today for the murder of three people at two separate Jewish Community Centers in Overland Park, Kan. Miller, who was arrested using the alias Frazier Glenn Cross, has been in the movement nearly his entire life. Miller is the former “grand dragon” of the Carolina Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, which he founded and ran in the 1980s before being sued by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) for operating an illegal paramilitary organization and using intimidation tactics against African Americans.

Miller is a raging anti-Semite who has posted more than 12,000 times on Vanguard News Network (VNN), whose slogan is “No Jews, Just Right.” VNN founder Alex Linder has openly advocated “exterminating” Jews since December 2009. Miller, a close partner to Linder, has called Jews “swarthy, hairy, bow-legged, beady-eyed, parasitic midgets.” Miller is also one of VNN’s largest donors and he printed and distributed thousands of copies of VNN’s newsletter, The Aryan Alternative.

Bomb team brought in over suspect parcel for Alan Shatter (Irish Justice Minister)

A GARDA station was evacuated for several hours after an army bomb disposal team was called to examine a suspicious package addressed to Justice Minister Alan Shatter.
It was the second suspicious parcel to have been posted to the minister in the past week.
Both were found to contain harmless substances and photographs of Nazi troops in the 1930s.

The parcel was similar to last week's package, which contained baking powder and a picture of a Nazi rally in the Polish city of Gdansk with images of five swastikas.
Yesterday's package also included a photograph of Nazi troops but the exact nature of the powder could not be immediately determined.
Other anti-Semitic material has been sent in the past to the Department of Justice and videos and photographs were also posted online.

UK Muslim hotline invites gay, Jewish patrons (x-post LGBT group)
The founder of a UK-based hotline that helps fight Islamophobia is recruiting senior figures from the gay and Jewish communities to send out a message against all forms of intolerance, a local newspaper reported Sunday.
The Tell MAMA (Measuring Anti-Muslim Attacks) helpline, whose aim is to help victims and measure the level of anti-Muslim attacks in Britain, has invited the famous gay activist Peter Tatchell to become its patron, the Sunday Express reported.
The daily also revealed that Tell MAMA’s founder, Fiyaz Mughal, will make yet another controversial announcement next week when he officially recruits Richard Benson, a former president of the Community Security Trust (CST), a Jewish organization that battles anti-Semitism, to be the group’s joint chairman.
Mughal, who started the group in 2012, said that by linking up with key figures from these two communities, a message of tolerance will be proliferated.
“We’re clear. If you are homophobic or anti-Semitic, you can’t campaign against anti-Muslim prejudice,” he told the Sunday Express.

European far-right backs Putin over Crimea
Russia has accused the West of organising a fascist plot in Ukraine. All those masked men in black hanging around Kiev, looking sinister. When I was in Crimea a few weeks ago, at exactly the point of the Russian takeover, the local state TV channel suddenly switched from covering normal news to running endless documentaries about Hitler and how the Soviet armies defended Ukraine from Nazism.
And it is certainly true that there are some hardline right-wing elements in Kiev and western Ukraine, though it appears some steps are being taken to get them out of the picture if the new government there is going to get the European Union to take it seriously.
But here’s something interesting that’s just started to emerge: across western Europe, where hardline right-wing, ultra-nationalist parties are in the ascendency in opinion polls, it’s turning out that many of them are hugely supportive of what Putin’s organised in Crimea.
To the naked eye it appears parties often accused of being neo-fascist are supporting a Russian plan which is ostensibly designed to stop fascism.

Putin Ally Accused Of Pushing Jews-Killed-Jesus Theme
A St. Petersburg city councilman from Russia’s ruling party made statements suggesting that Jews killed Jesus.
Vitaly Milonov made the statements last month during a meeting of the St. Petersburg City Council, where he serves as a lawmaker for President Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party, the svodka.net news website reported this week.
“They vilify any saint, it is in their tradition of 2,000 years, beginning with the appeals to crucify the Savior, ending with accusations of anti-Semitism against St. John of Kronstadt,” Milonov said during a March 19 speech before the city’s legislative council, according to the report.
Milonov was advocating a bill that proposes to declare June 14 a municipal holiday in honor of John of Kronstadt, a 19th century leader of the Orthodox Russian Church. His legacy remains controversial because of his membership in the Black Hundred, an ultranationalist and declaredly anti-Semitic movement that supported pogroms against Jews.

Milonov is the same politician who has proposed that Russia outlaw the “promotion” of homosexuality, grant full citizenship to embryos and forcing women who have not given birth by the age of 23 to join the army.
He argues, “I don’t want children to get the wrong idea that traditional and non-traditional forms of partnerships are equal – they are not equal…. But a video clip by say, Madonna, in which she is kissing another woman that can be seen by children is gay propaganda. Children like to copy their role models.”

Far-right Jobbik party baits Jews in Hungarian election campaign
ESZTERGOM, Hungary (Reuters) - To launch its campaign for Hungary's parliamentary election, the far-right Jobbik party, accused by critics of anti-Semitism, chose as its venue a former synagogue with a plaque on the wall commemorating 500 local Jews killed in the Holocaust.
The reaction was unsurprising: opponents turned up outside the synagogue in the city of Esztergom to protest at Jobbik's presence, they heckled party leader Gabor Vona as he arrived, and the confrontation was broadcast on the evening news.
It was seen as another publicity coup for Jobbik on its path to entrenching itself on Europe's political landscape, and for not much more than the $50 hourly cost of renting the former synagogue, now a municipal community centre.
When Jobbik shocked Europe four years ago by coming third in Hungary's parliamentary election, many of its opponents predicted the party would soon implode.

Insiders say the party has close ties with kuruc.info, a website which has sections entitled "Jewish crime", "Gypsy crime" and "Holokamu", a pun on the words for Holocaust and lie, meant to denote that the Holocaust was fiction. It also carries election ads for Jobbik. The party denies ties to the website.
At a January rally in eastern Hungary, Jobbik parliamentary candidate Tibor Agoston used the phrase "Holokamu" in a joke about events planned to mark the anniversary of the Holocaust. He is still a candidate.
At the synagogue rally in Esztergom, a Reuters reporter saw representatives of a group called Betyarsereg (Army of Outlaws) providing security for the gathering. The group supports the Nazi notion of "Lebensraum," or living space for favored races. It said on its website that Jobbik had asked it to take care of security at the synagogue.

The factoids doled out in such articles and in books about Jews in China—for example: “The world’s wealth is in Americans’ pockets; Americans are in Jews’ pockets”—would rightly be seen to be alarming in other contexts. But in China, where Jews are widely perceived as clever and accomplished, they are meant as compliments. Scan the shelves in any bookstore in China and you are likely to find best-selling self-help books based on Jewish knowledge. Most focus on how to make cash. Titles range from 101 Money Earning Secrets From Jews’ Notebooks to Learn To Make Money With the Jews.
The Chinese recognize, and embrace, common characteristics between their culture and Jewish culture. Both races have a large diaspora spread across the globe. Both place emphasis on family, tradition, and education. Both boast civilizations that date back thousands of years. In Shanghai, I am often told with nods of approval that I must be intelligent, savvy, and quick-witted, simply because of my ethnicity. While it is true that the Chinese I’ve met are fascinated by—rather than fear—the Jews, these assertions make me deeply uncomfortable.
So, it was with a degree of apprehension that I recently traveled to the former imperial capital of Nanjing to spend the day with Prof. Xu Xin, director of the Diane and Guilford Glazer Institute of Jewish and Israel Studies at Nanjing University. The first thing Xu did was suggest lunch. As we sat down to a steaming tofu hot pot, he woefully conceded that many Chinese believe the Jews to be “smart, rich, and very cunning.” Just before my visit to Nanjing, the Chinese tycoon Chen Guangbiao made international headlines by publicly announcing his ambitions to buy the New York Times and later the Wall Street Journal. In a TV interview he explained that he would be an ideal newspaper magnate because “I am very good at working with Jews”—who, he said, controlled the media.
Yet Chen presumably, like the majority of Chinese, has few concrete ideas about the reality of Jewish history or practices. Xu, the 65-year-old pioneer of Jewish studies in China, is campaigning to change that—and, by doing so, challenging entrenched stereotypes. The diminutive professor has made it his life’s pursuit to present a more nuanced view of the Jewish race and religion to his countrymen: one based on scholarship rather than rumor. To this end he launched the Institute of Jewish Studies in 1992, the first of its kind in Chinese higher education.

Unless I missed it, what I find interesting is there no mention that China does not officially recognize Judaism as a religion. 
This is an interesting article, especially in regards with remarks made by Pat Robertson about Jews and business (see: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=4759183). Anti-Semitism isn't always about name-calling, blood libels, or negative stereotypes.
Treblinka Camp Secrets: More Proof That The Nazi’s Were Monsters
Forensic archeologist Caroline Sturdy Colls has been granted unprecedented access to excavate one of history’s greatest crime scenes: Hitler’s secret extermination camp in the Polish village of Treblinka.
It was in this camp during the year 1942 and 1943, almost 1 million Jews were killed. But strangely, for the past 70 yeas all evidence of this camp and its victims vanished, Ms. Sturdy Colis plans to reveal what Hitler and his henchmen were so desperate to hide.
The grisly results of this dig are revealed in “Treblinka: Hitler’s Killing Machine,” an hour-long show premiering Saturday on the Smithsonian Channel. But they’re revealed in a way that pays respect to the estimated 900,000 Jewish victims of that killing machine.
“The ethical dimension of the work that I do is really important to me,” Caroline Sturdy Colls told NBC News. The difference at Treblinka, which is as infamous as Auschwitz and Dachau in the hell that was the Holocaust, is that there were no inmates liberated by Allied troops, no photos showing disused gas chambers. The Germans finished their work at Treblinka in 1943 and bulldozed the camp in an effort to cover their tracks. They went so far as to plant crops and build a farmhouse on the leveled ground.
