(Jewish Group) How The Myth Of The 'Good Jew' Hurts Us All

(THIS IS THE JEWISH GROUP! RESPECT!!)

It is a truth universally acknowledged that any conflict between Israelis and Palestinians will be turned into a battle amongst American Jews to prove who is — and isn’t — a “good Jew.”

My social media feed is saturated with Jewish friends and colleagues declaring who fits into this category, and it is generally those who signal their utter shame at Israel’s response to the recent protests near the Israel-Gaza border. As noted by the Forward’s Opinion Editor Batya Ungar-Sargon, some Jews have also added flame emojis to their Twitter accounts or tweets in order to proclaim to their non-Jewish colleagues, “I’m one of the good Jews who opposes Israel!”

This kind of signaling isn’t new. As the 2017 Chicago Dyke March’s expulsion of three Jewish women who were carrying rainbow flags emblazoned with Stars of David demonstrated, in leftist, intersectional circles, Jews are often required to prove they are sufficiently anti-Israel before being accepted as a member of good standing. While being anti-Israel is certainly not the same thing as being anti-Semitic, it is generally those who are most adamant in their insistence that dismantling Israel has nothing to do with anti-Semitism who pressure Jews, rather than Zionists, to denounce Israel whenever there’s a conflict in the region.

Of course, this litmus test exists in both political camps. For those on the right, being a “good Jew” means standing with and never criticizing Israel, supporting the settlements unconditionally and blaming all Palestinians for Hamas’ leadership — and, therefore, all of the current bloodshed and chaos.

Russians tell gay World Cup fans: 'You'll be hunted down and stabbed'

Gay football fans have been warned that they will be hunted down and attacked if they go to the World Cup.

Last week, LGBT football fans were “strongly” warned to not “publicly display sexuality” at the World Cup.

The Football Supporters’ Federation said that queer fans should not hold hands or be affectionate towards their partner in public, to ensure their safety.

---snip---

White told PinkNews that FIFA was “at least pushing the Russian authorities on investigating the threats and they now have, alongside UEFA, sexual orientation and gender identity rights as part of the bidding process.

“But it is ridiculous that they gave the World Cup to Russia and Qatar.”

The 2022 World Cup will be in Qatar, where homosexuality is illegal.

(Jewish Group) ADL Decries Anti-Semitic Robocall

(THIS IS THE JEWISH GROUP! RESPECT!!)

Republican Senate candidate Patrick Little, who is running for Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-Calif.) seat, has openly called himself a white nationalist and made anti-Semitic comments that include calling for an America “free from Jews.”

Now, his supporters have created an anti-Semitic robocall, which calls Feinstein, among other things, a “traitorous Jew.”

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) posted the audio and transcript of the robocall — which began on May 14 — on its website. It begins with a man stating that “Feinstein isn’t just a Jew, she’s an Israeli citizen.”

A woman then responds, “She’s a citizen of Israel but she gets to vote as a U.S. senator from California to send billions of our dollars every year to her real country, Israel?”

The man then replies that Jews made it legal to do that. The woman then laments that Feinstein “gets to vote America into Middle East wars based on lies so that Israel can eventually expand its borders like it always planned.”

The Transcript:

Man: Diane Feinstein isn’t just a Jew, she’s an Israeli citizen.

Woman: Wait, that can’t be legal, right? I mean she’s a citizen of Israel but she gets to vote as a U.S. senator from California to send billions of our dollars every year to her real country, Israel?

Man: It used to be illegal but the Jews of our country got rid of that law.

Woman: Not only that, but she gets to vote America into middle east wars based on lies so that Israel can eventually expand its borders like it always planned.

Man: To rid America of the traitorous Jews like Dianne Feinstein, vote for Patrick Little for U.S. senator from California by mail by May 29 or at polls on June 5th. He’s a patriot, a veteran of the U.S. Marine corps, and he’s vowed to end Jewish control over America, starting with Dianne Feinstein, an Israeli citizen pretending to be an American while she takes our money for her real country, Israel, and kills our children for it too. Vote for Patrick Little for U.S. senator from California by mail by May 29 or at polls on June 5th. He’s going to get rid of all the nation-wrecking Jews from our country starting with Israeli citizen, Diane Feinstein.

“Goodbye Jews, goodbye Jews, goodbye Jews” (clip from Schindler’s List).

Gee, that phone call seems soooooooo familiar! It is as if I've heard it somewhere other than this robocall. Hmmm. Where could it be?!

(Jewish Group) British Muslim Group Denounces anti-Semitism in Full Page Newspaper Ad

(THIS IS THE JEWISH GROUP! RESPECT!!)

Muslim leaders took out a full-page ad in a major British newspaper condemning anti-Semitism.

“We understand that many in our country empathize with the Palestinians and their right to a sovereign state,” said the ad Thursday in the Telegraph, a national broadsheet, and signed by a group called Muslims Against Anti-Semitism. “However, we must be ever vigilant against those who cynically use international issues to vilify Jews or promote anti-Semitic tropes.”

The ad was signed by the leaders of groups including Faith Matters, a Muslim anti-extremism group; the Association of British Muslims, and Tell MAMA, a clearinghouse for complaints about anti-Muslim attacks.

https://twitter.com/BoardofDeputies/status/997037073306652672

The Board of Deputies of British Jews praised the ad on Twitter. “Incredible solidarity – a full-page ad by Muslim sisters & brothers in today’s @Telegraph,” it said. “Thank you. Together we will defeat the twin evils of antisemitism & anti-Muslim hate.”

(Jewish Group) How to tell when criticism of Israel is actually anti-Semitism

(THIS IS THE JEWISH GROUP! RESPECT!!)

As the United States opened its new embassy in Jerusalem on Monday, tens of thousands of Gazans gathered at their territory’s boundary fence to protest the loss of Palestinian homes and villages when Israel was founded 70 years ago. Most were unarmed, but some protesters lobbed flaming tires or Molotov cocktails at the Israeli side. Israeli soldiers opened fire, killing more than 60 Palestinians and wounding thousands. Pro-Palestinian voices often described the Israeli response with words such as “murder” and “massacre.”

The reaction fit into a long rhetorical battle in which harsh criticism of Israel’s actions leads to accusations of bias against Jews. The right-wing Israeli news outlet Arutz Sheva, for instance, accused the United Nations agency that administers aid to Palestinians of encouraging anti-Semitism, citing a Fox News video that showed Gazan children chanting about the right to return to former Palestinian lands. Pro-Israel institutions have tried to blunt what they see as hate speech: South Carolina just passed a law deeming any criticism of Israel in public schools or universities to be anti-Semitic. More than 20 states have banned public contracts with companies that boycott of Israel. Meanwhile, fierce arguments have broken out over whether critics of Israel within Britain’s Labour Party are ignoring anti-Semitism.

Yes, anti-Semitism is alive and well, and increasingly it masquerades as criticism of Israel. But as the executive director of T’ruah, a Jewish organization dedicated to protecting human rights here, in Israel and in the occupied Palestinian territories, I know it’s possible to criticize Israel without veering into anti-Semitism. I do it every day.

---snip---

But I also see plenty of criticism that crosses the line. Jews increasingly feel unwelcome on the left unless they abandon their commitments to Israel. A University of Virginia student told me that some progressive campus groups responded to the neo-Nazi incursions there (anti-Semitism on the right is often easier to spot) by dismissing Jewish students as “Zionist baby killers.” At rallies on college campuses, speakers regularly list “Zionists” in the same category as white supremacists and Nazis. Progressive leaders circulate lists of acceptable Jewish organizations, including only those that do not address Israel or that define themselves as Palestinian solidarity groups. If the left continues to ignore this trend, most of the Jewish community will be pushed out of progressive spaces.

Despite what some pro-Israel organizations would have us believe, not all criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic. Like all countries, Israel has a duty to uphold international human rights laws and to protect the rights of those living under its control. One may protest the use of live fire on unarmed protesters, the closure of the Gaza border and the subsequent humanitarian crisis, the military occupation of the Palestinian territories, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s attacks on democracy and incitement against human rights leaders without invoking anti-Semitic tropes. Such policies would be wrong in any country, whether carried out by Jews or other people.

Superman at 80: The Jewish origins of the Man of Steel and the 'curse' that haunts the actors who pl

This week marks the 80th anniversary of Superman's first appearance in a comic book. The Man of Steel adorned the cover of the June issue of Action Comics #1 when it first hit newsstands on 18 April 1938, lifting a car over his head, red cape billowing in the breeze as terrified pedestrians run for cover. His iconic image was already there, fully formed, and the character has barely changed in the intervening decades.

Superman was created by childhood friends Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, classmates at Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio, two avid comics fans who saw pulp publishing and syndicated newspaper stories as their ticket to glory.

They developed Superman from ideas Siegel had first worked on in amateur fanzines about crimefighters with supernatural powers. After struggling to interest the daily press in their hero, Siegel and Shuster eventually sold the rights to Detective Comics (DC) in March 1938 for $130 (about $2,225 today), resigning themselves to failure.

How wrong they were. Superman proved an immediate hit and quickly secured his own spin-off comic. A phenomenon was born.

One of the most interesting aspects of the character's genesis is that his origins lie not in Friedrich Nietzsche's conception of the ubermensch – travestied into Adolf Hitler's belief in the innate superiority of an Aryan master race – but in Jewish mythology.

Who 'runs the world'? Jews, according to Azealia Banks

Fresh from a performance in Israel, American rap star Azealia Banks on Wednesday unleashed a tweet tirade in which she accused Jews of having complete control over "African-American entertainment industries" and that they "run the world."

In two tweets that were deleted not long after they appeared, Banks picked up on a previous tweet stream in which she lambasted Israelis for being rude and racist.

Things took a darker turn, however, when she wrote that: "Now here us negroes are in 2018 paying for our sins by Jews having complete control over all African American entertainment industries in the US. From hip-hop to basketball and sports... the Jews run and own it all."

"That's what we get for listening to the romans," she added.

She then added to a story told the previous day about an encounter on her flight to Israel last week, during which she said she was offered money for sex by a rabbi she was seated next to.

Trudeau To Apologize For Canada Turning Away Jewish Refugees On MS St. Louis In 1939

TORONTO — Canada will formally apologize for turning away a boat full of Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi Germany in 1939, resulting in scores of them dying, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Tuesday.

In a well-received speech to a sold-out Jewish fundraising event, Trudeau said the decision by Canada to force the German ocean liner "MS St. Louis" to return to Europe was a blight on our collective past.

"An apology in the House of Commons will not rewrite this shameful chapter of our history," Trudeau said. "It will not bring back those who perished or repair the lives shattered by tragedy. But it is our hope that this long overdue apology will bring awareness to our failings, as we vow to never let history repeat itself."

In the run-up to the Second World War and the ensuing Holocaust, the Canadian government heeded anti-Semitic sentiment by severely restricting Jewish immigration. From 1933 to 1945, only about 5,000 Jewish refugees were accepted due to what Trudeau called "our discriminatory 'none is too many' immigration policy" in place at the time.

He called the turning away of the ship a "most egregious" example of the misguided policy.

The Last Slave Ship Survivor Gave an Interview in the 1930s. It Just Surfaced.

Roughly 60 years after the abolition of slavery, anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston made an incredible connection: She located the last surviving captive of the last slave ship to bring Africans to the United States.

Hurston, a known figure of the Harlem Renaissance who would later write the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, conducted interviews with the survivor but struggled to publish them as a book in the early 1930s. In fact, they are only now being released to the public in a book called Barracoon: The Story of the Last “Black Cargo” that comes out on May 8, 2018.

Hurston’s book tells the story of Cudjo Lewis, who was born in what is now the West African country of Benin. Originally named Kossula, he was only 19 years old when members of the neighboring Dahomian tribe captured him and took him to the coast. There, he and about 120 others were sold into slavery and crammed onto the Clotilda, the last slave ship to reach the continental United States.

The Clotilda brought its captives to Alabama in 1860, just a year before the outbreak of the Civil War. Even though slavery was legal at that time in the U.S., the international slave trade was not, and hadn’t been for over 50 years. Along with many European nations, the U.S. had outlawed the practice in the early 18th century, but Lewis’ journey is an example of how slave traders went around the law to continue bringing over human cargo.

Republican Senate Candidate Praises Hitler and Sparks Condemnation from California GOP

The California Republican Party has disavowed its top-polling candidate to take on Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein this November after it emerged that he has espoused a range of white nationalist views, including calling for a country “free from Jews.”

Patrick Little, a 33-year-old extremist who last week topped other Republican Senate candidates in a poll of the field, told Newsweek on Monday that he admires Adolf Hitler, and would prefer to see Jewish Americans deported to Israel. He falsely denied that the genocide of Jews took place during World War II and incorrectly suggested that Germany was not an aggressor during that conflict.

“Mr. Little has never been an active member of our party. I do not know Mr. Little and I am not familiar with his positions,” Matt Fleming, communications director for the California Republican Party told Newsweek. “But in the strongest terms possible, we condemn anti-Semitism and any other form of religious bigotry, just as we do with racism, sexism or anything else that can be construed as a hateful point of view.”

Little made a series of claims and statements to Newsweek that mirror content found online as part of the alt-right movement, where Jewish people are frequently blamed for a host of problems faced by white people.

Explaining his extreme views, Little said that he was once a Pro-Israel libertarian who supported the anti-tax Tea Party movement, but his feelings about Jewish people shifted drastically after spending time talking to other white men on the website WeSearchr following his exit from the Marines in 2015. The Marines does not confirm the status of a person's discharge unless it involves a court-martial but a spokesperson told Newsweek that Little was promoted to the rank of Sergeant before leaving the service.

His "platform":

•Merit-based employment in all government agencies and all institutions which receive funds from the Federal and State Governments.
•Limiting representation of Jews in the government, to include judgeships, to number proportional to their percentage of the US population.
•Introduce legislation outlawing lobbying efforts of foreign governments, specifically those of the terrorist state of Israel (AIPAC, ADL, etc).
•Introduce Senate resolution condemning Israel for terrorist attacks on the USS Liberty and US bases during the Lavon Affair
•Put to rest the issue of slavery in the US by introducing a bill ending all foreign aid to Israel, and giving the US population of blacks descended of African slaves in the US a one time payment. This payment will be equivalent to the next ten years of aid to Israel divided by the number of recipients. Enshrined in this bill will be a permanent ban on providing foreign aid to Israel, including a death penalty for any politician introducing a bill that would lead to foreign aid to Israel.
•Introduce a bill to fund research into implementing my Mars Impact Theory, the redirection of asteroids to a collision path with Mars such that the planet would have its magnetosphere and atmosphere restored for later colonization and mineral exploitation by the US government and potentially any partners in colonization.
•Introduction of a bill to the Senate proposing the immediate dismissal of the necessary number of Jewish jurists that would reduce their representation in federal courts and the supreme court to a number representative of their percentage of the US population.
•Introduction of a bill that would lead to the embargoing of Israel until they agree to repay all foreign aid previously rendered, as well as reparations to families of the victims of Jewish terrorist attacks on the US.
•Introduce a bill to the US Senate making it illegal to raise funds for any foundation related to the perpetuating of propaganda related to a ‘holocaust’, formally making US’s stance on the holocaust to be that it is a Jewish war atrocity propaganda hoax that never happened.
•Introduce legislation restoring immigration policy in the US such that the 1965 Immigration Act is repealed and restoring the policies of the National Origins Act.
•Introduce legislation restoring the original intent of the Constitution, explicitly stating that the United States is a ethnically European nation.
•Campaign Finance reform: Make it illegal for corporations or lobbies of foreign governments to donate to candidates or political action committees. Outlaw all lobbies except non-profit lobbies that work to protect the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the US Constitution
•Nationalize Google, Facebook, Twitter, and all other natural monopolies in the IT industry.
