Semiconductor maker Micron announced Wednesday that it would reduce its headcount by about 10% in 2023, in the latest example of a technology industry slowdown affecting employment.
Shares of Micron fell more than 1% in extended trading.
Idaho-based Micron has about 48,000 employees, according to a recent SEC filing. The company said it would hit its reduction target through voluntary departures as well as layoffs.
Micron also said it is suspending 2023 bonuses.
"On December 21, 2022, we announced a restructure plan in response to challenging industry conditions," the company said in an SEC filing. "Under the restructure plan, we expect to reduce our headcount by approximately 10% over calendar year 2023, through a combination of voluntary attrition and personnel reductions."

Here is what I dont get, car companies cant finish cars because the cant get chips, meanwhile the chip companies are cutting production.
Maybe they dont make automotive chips, if they dont, why are they not evolving the business?
Companies turn to cutting the moment they are not meeting certain market targets.
I have been a victim of one of these corporate restructuring events.

Arizona governor builds border wall of shipping crates in final days of office
A makeshift new barrier built with shipping containers is being illegally erected along part of the US-Mexico border by Arizonas Republican governor before he has to hand over the keys of his office to his Democratic successor in January.
Doug Ducey is driving a project that is placing double-stacked old shipping containers through several miles of national forest, attempting to fill gaps in Donald Trumps intermittent border fencing.
The rusting hulks, topped with razor wire and with bits of metal jammed into gaps, stretch for more than three miles through Coronado national forest land, south of Tucson, and the governor has announced plans to extend that up to 10 miles, at a cost of $95m

I work in Georgia while living in South Carolina, I asked Georgians if I could vote Tuesday
I said if it's OK for Walker to run for Senate in Georgia while living in Texas, I should be allowed to vote in Georgia while living in South Carolina
I am not sure these people knew.
Worker pleads guilty in election equipment tampering case
DENVER (AP) A former elections manager who prosecutors say assisted in a security breach of voting equipment in a Colorado county pleaded guilty on Wednesday under a plea agreement that requires her to testify against her former boss.
Sandra Brown is one of two employees accused of helping Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters allow a copy of a hard drive to be made during an update of election equipment last year in search of proof of the false conspiracy theories spun by former President Donald Trump.
Brown, 45, pleaded guilty to attempting to influence a public servant, a felony, and official misconduct, a misdemeanor, but will not be sentenced until right after she testifies at Peters trial next year so her performance on the witness stand can be considered.
There were things going on that I should have questioned and I didnt, Brown told Judge Matthew Barrett.
In August, Peters chief deputy, Belinda Knisley, also pleaded guilty under a deal that required her to testify against Peters. She only pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts and was immediately sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation.

Saw a TFG Desantis 2024 flag today
Is the MAGA Cult trying to cut Desantis out of the picture by framing him as TFGs running mate?
Voted early in South Carolina 1hr wait to vote.
It wasnt for lack of machines, just numbers of voters.
I was frustrated with the ballot. Why do Democrats leave so many offices uncontested?
There were 6 local offices with no Democrats and one for state rep.
It cant be that hard to place a name in the slot.
For republicans to run trump in 2024, they must first admit he lost a clean election in 2020
Otherwise he is ineligible.

Mary Trump, the niece of former President Donald Trump and his avid critic, sarcastically said this week that the country will "run out of beer" if her uncle was indicted for keeping classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort residence, in reference to a recent interview in which he said "big problems" would happen in the country if he were to be indicted.
