Naked couple arrested in bizarre incident

This happened in my neighborhood, not Florida

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- A Bay Village woman and a Cleveland man were arrested in Westlake, Ohio, early Saturday morning after an unclothed, alcohol-fueled night behind the wheel.

Police received a report of a naked male and female outside of a car in the parking lot of a business on Bassett Road, before 12:30 a.m. Saturday. When officers arrived, the pair were inside the car, driving on a treelawn along Crocker Road.

A patrol officer stopped the car. The driver, Alexandria Mauer, 24, was still completely nude, eating a slice of pizza and the passenger, Kenneth Gillespie, 33, also still undressed, was holding an open beer can between his feet.

Both were arrested and ordered to get dressed.

But the night didn't stop there.

Lindsey Graham: Confederate Flag Is a "Part of Who We Are"

Following the mass shooting inside a black church in Charleston, South Carolina on Wednesday, one flag was conspicuously not lowered to half-mast in tribute to the nine lives lost in the deadly attack—the Confederate flag, which regularly flies on the grounds of the state capitol, despite countless calls for its removal because of its racist roots.

The rebel flag's presence in Columbia was especially disturbing this week after images surfaced showing the suspected gunman's embrace of the flag, which was on his license plates. (Dylann Roof also wore patches baring the flags of Apartheid-era South Africa and Rhodesia, the racist symbolism of which was evident.)

While other GOP politicians, including Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, are criticizing the flag's enduring presence, Sen. Lindsey Graham, who hails from South Carolina and is now running for president, has come to the rebel flag's defense. According to Graham, the Confederate flag is an integral "part of who we are."

Trump paid actors to cheer his 2016 launch: report

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump allegedly paid actors to celebrate his formal campaign launch for president earlier this week.

The new 2016 contender paid extras $50 to participate in his kickoff Tuesday from New York City’s Trump Tower, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The publication said it had obtained an email sent by New York-based Extra Mile Casting last Friday, calling on performers capable of joining the campaign launch earlier this week.

“We are looking to cast people for the event to wear T-shirts and carry signs and help cheer him in support of his announcement,” the June 12 email said.

“We understand this is not a traditional ‘background job,’ but we believe acting comes in all forms and that is inclusive of this school of thought,” it added.

The Hollywood Reporter said the email was sent on behalf of Gotham Government Relations and Communications, a political consulting group in New York that Trump has previously used.

The firm had no comment on possible help for his campaign launch, the publication said.

Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski denied his staff had hired any actors on Wednesday evening.

Issa escorted out of Benghazi deposition

Former House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) tried to crash former Hillary Clinton adviser Sidney Blumenthal’s deposition before the House Select Committee on Benghazi on Tuesday.

Issa marched into the closed-door deposition and remained inside for about a minute before he was escorted out by the panel’s chairman, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.).

The pair briefly exchanged hushed words in a nearby hallway before Issa stormed off, throwing an empty soda can into a nearby trash bin.

Gun Maker Colt Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

NEW YORK (AP) — Gun maker Colt Defense LLC filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy late Sunday, allowing for a quicker sale of operations in the U.S. and Canada.

In its filing, the company estimated that it owes up to $500 million to up to 50 creditors. It also listed assets of up to $500 million.

The West Hartford, Connecticut-based company said it secured $20 million in financing from its current lenders and will continue to operate while in bankruptcy. The entire restructuring process is expected to be complete within 90 days, after which Colt plans to remain in business.

Colt selected Sciens Capital Management LLC as its "stalking horse," or lead bidder, in the sale.

In a statement, Colt said it will be able to reassure its employees of its commitment to continued operations in West Hartford through a long-term extension on the lease for its manufacturing facilities and campus. Union-related agreements will also be unaffected and employees will be paid all wages, salaries and benefits on a timely basis.
