QOTD: The biggest ass on the planet
Published by digby on March 6, 2020

It’s not even noon and I’m already thinking about drinking. I simply cannot believe he actually said this:

Regarding Warren, the deluded, twisted piece of work said this:

I think lack of talent was her problem. She had a tremendous lack of talent … she is a very mean person and people don’t like her. People don’t want that.

They like a person like me that isn’t mean.

How can it be possible that this ignorant barbarian could win a second term? How can we ever look at people who vote for this man the same way again?

Erik Prince Recruits Ex-Spies to Help Infiltrate Liberal Groups

Erik Prince Recruits Ex-Spies to Help Infiltrate Liberal Groups
Mark Mazzetti and Adam Goldman

WASHINGTON — Erik Prince, the security contractor with close ties to the Trump administration, has in recent years helped recruit former American and British spies for secretive intelligence-gathering operations that included infiltrating Democratic congressional campaigns, labor organizations and other groups considered hostile to the Trump agenda, according to interviews and documents.

One of the former spies, an ex-MI6 officer named Richard Seddon, helped run a 2017 operation to copy files and record conversations in a Michigan office of the American Federation of Teachers, one of the largest teachers’ unions in the nation. Mr. Seddon directed an undercover operative to secretly tape the union’s local leaders and try to gather information that could be made public to damage the organization, documents show.

Using a different alias the next year, the same undercover operative infiltrated the congressional campaign of Abigail Spanberger, then a former C.I.A. officer who went on to win an important House seat in Virginia as a Democrat. The campaign discovered the operative and fired her.

Both operations were run by Project Veritas, a conservative group that has gained attention using hidden cameras and microphones for sting operations on news organizations, Democratic politicians and liberal advocacy groups. Mr. Seddon’s role in the teachers’ union operation — detailed in internal Project Veritas emails that have emerged from the discovery process of a court battle between the group and the union — has not previously been reported, nor has Mr. Prince’s role in recruiting Mr. Seddon for the group’s activities.

What Did That Dumb Orange Motherfucker Say Now? (CDC Visit Version)

So it was that our hairless yeti of a president lumbered into the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta in order to show that he can pretend to be interested in what's being done to slow the outbreak of COVID-19, the coronavirus that is breeding exponentially and spreading with seemingly little pushback in the United States, sort of like Trump's lies. Of course, he ended up doing what he always does, bullshitting, lying, and self-fellating, all while wearing a stupid fucking KAG hat because he's always campaigning.

Trump repeated something that ought to be utterly soul-shreddingly shocking. In his continuing effort to dismiss the coronavirus as essentially the flu (which it decidedly is not), he said, "[L]ast year we had approximately 36,000 deaths due to what’s called the flu. And I was — when I first heard this four, five, six weeks ago — when I was hearing the amount of people that died with flu, I was shocked to hear it. " You got that? The motherfucking president of the goddamned United States just heard a few weeks ago that tens of thousands of Americans die of "what's called the flu." (Note: It's called "the flu" because it's the fuckin' flu.)

That level of giving a shit about the lives of ordinary Americans is, to use a phrase he would understand, par for the course for Trump. In the same response to a reporter's question, he then bragged about the ratings for his ludicrous Fox "news" interview. No, really, he totally did: "I heard it broke all ratings records, but maybe that’s wrong. That’s what they told me. I don’t know. I can’t imagine that." You can imagine that on a regular basis some groveling toad tells Trump that something he did is the biggest or best, and reality can go fuck itself.

And then he literally repeated, "Over the last long period of time, when people have the flu, you have an average of 36,000 people dying. I’ve never heard those numbers. I would — I would’ve been shocked. I would’ve said, 'Does anybody die from the flu?' I didn’t know people died from the flu — 36,000 people died." Just to repeat myself: The President. Of the United States. Didn't know that people die from flu. That's not just sheltered or ignorant; that's "I live in a cave that only shows me Fox and reruns of The Apprentice" level of ignorance."

snip//

The other weird beyond weird moment came not when Trump insulted Washington Governor Jay Inslee for not properly kissing his ass. No, it was when Trump stood there like a petrified lump of shit and compared the test for COVID 19 to other stuff: "The tests are all perfect, like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect, right? This was not as perfect as that, but pretty good." Yep, the word "perfect" tripped something in his deformed brain and he had to bring up other things he's called "perfect."

It was all a goddamn embarrassment and a clear demonstration that we are on this road by ourselves. The federal government took too long to get its shit together that we are going to be hit harder than we would have by the coronavirus. We're fucked in that uniquely Trumpian way that we've been fucked. It's not just incompetence and ignorance; implicit in Trump's "understanding" of the medical science is that he doesn't fucking care about any of us, certainly not the people who voted for him who live in states without a Medicaid expansion. That idiot horde bought the ticket to ride this locomotive that's run on bullshit. Take it all the way until you run out of track.

Another perspective from an African American Biden voter:

A perspective I hadn't considered. Sis on FB~

Another perspective from an African American Biden voter:

"Let me explain something to you about Joe Biden and why some of the shit that he’s done in his past doesn’t matter.

This old rich white man played second fiddle to a black man. Not just any black man, but a younger black man, a smart black man. Not just for a day. Not 1, not 2 but eight years. He took his cues from this black man who had more power than him and was virtually unknown when he took the presidency, and Joe Biden had been around forever.

He was willing and proud to be his wing man. Not once did he try to undermine him, this black man. Instead Joe walked in lockstep with him, he respected him, he loved and trusted him. He was led by him and he learned from him. And Joe did not have a problem with it.

You tell me what 40+ year “establishment” white politician has ever done that. Joe Biden is cut from a different cloth. And black folks understand that and for good reason. He has shown it.

This is what showing up and being an ally looks like. When black people say they know Joe, this is how we know."

Florida group funded by pro-Trump Super PAC tied to voter registration fraud arrest

Florida group funded by pro-Trump Super PAC tied to voter registration fraud arrest

An organization registering Florida voters in cooperation with a pro-Trump Super PAC has been tied to allegations of fraud after a Florida elections office flagged dozens of problematic forms wrongly registering or changing the party affiliations of unwitting voters.

More than 120 voter registration forms submitted recently by Florida First Inc., a non-profit tied to the America First Action Super PAC, were marred by forged signatures, unauthorized party registration switches and bogus personal information, according to Lake County Supervisor Alan Hays. At least 18 of the forms improperly led Hays’ office to change Democratic and independent voters to Republican.

On Thursday, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Clermont woman and charged her with 10 felony counts of submitting false voter registration information. Detectives say they do not believe Florida First is engaged in fraud as an organization, but Hays told the Miami Herald Friday that additional Florida First workers may have falsified registration forms.

Business Leaders Dump Trump Over His Coronavirus Response Fail

Business Leaders Dump Trump Over His Coronavirus Response Fail

Business leaders are turning on Trump and working on their own without the White House to respond to the coronavirus crisis.

MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle said on Deadline: White House:

This is the first time we have seen global business leaders, who were happy to take the tax cut because it worked for them, leave the president. And I assure you he’s not happy about it but they don’t have anyone to trust. Whether you’re talking SARS, Ebola or the financial crisis. You would have business leaders and government leaders in a room saying how are we going to solve for this? Tell me who are the grown-ups in the room?

It was Larry Kudlow days ago saying buy the dip. And today saying this is just seasonal. Even this morning when the president said it’s going to be great for American business because people are going to go on vacation here. Tell an airline that. Two days ago Mike Pence had to solve a rift between airline CEOs and the White House because they were debating over passenger data. Without credible sources inside the White House, corporate America — the business roundtable has formed its own corona task force.

The White House is spending their time lying about the outbreak to the business community and the American people about the number of coronavirus cases and the administration’s response.

The plunge on Wall Street is caused by the fact that the business community no longer trusts Trump.

CNBC host Rick Santelli suggests killing millions now, because coronavirus is bad for business

CNBC host Rick Santelli suggests killing millions now, because coronavirus is bad for business

Anyone who thinks that Donald Trump is alone in valuing stock market numbers over human lives has never watched either Fox News or any network whose name includes the word “business.” The whole business of business channels is finding ways to add another billion to billion-dollar portfolios by improving “productivity”—or, as it’s known to everyone else, getting more work out of people while paying them less.

But even by the feudal standards of CNBC, this moment from host Rick Santelli is a horrifying example of literally choosing to sacrifice people in order to make things more convenient for the world’s CEOs. About the coronavirus, Santelli said, “Maybe we'd be just better off if we gave it to everybody, and then in a month it would be over because the mortality rate of this probably isn't going to be any different if we did it that way than the long-term picture, but the difference is we're wreaking havoc on global and domestic economies."

See, trying to prevent coronavirus from becoming an unrestrained epidemic costs money. Also time. There are all those cancelled conferences. Declining airline revenues. Deals that can’t be dealt.

During his bid to get slotted in between Dracula and The Creature in the pantheon of notable monsters, Santelli repeatedly compares the coronavirus to “the generic-type flu,” even as he concedes that it’s not the generic-type flu. But hey, if it were, we’d only be killing somewhere between 12,000 and 60,000 Americans to get those business wheels back to spinning at full speed. Barely a road bump.

Of course, no one has any immunity to the novel coronavirus, and there is no vaccine. So even if it has the same fatality rate as the flu, the number of deaths would be more like 320,000 … but still, have you seen Delta’s stock? Measures must be taken.

And then there’s the fact that so far the case fatality rate of coronavirus isn’t 0.1% like that of generic flu. It’s 3.4%. So … 10 million Americans? Is that still something Santelli would rush to embrace in order to get everyone back to work and boost that market up, up, up? Honestly, it’s best not to ask.

Fox Business Host Warns: U.S. Will Have 'Hundreds Of Thousands' Of COVID-19 Cases

Fox Business Host Warns: U.S. Will Have ‘Hundreds Of Thousands’ Of COVID-19 Cases
Maria Bartiromo told her audience the truth, which should really annoy Dear Leader.
By Karoli Kuns

It should surprise no one to know that the United States will indeed have hundreds of thousands of cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus, given the absolutely incompetent response of the Trump administration. But for Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo to do it on a channel that Trump watches religiously is quite a thing.

After the markets closed with the Dow down 1,000 points after being up yesterday, Bartiromo was asked by Bill Hemmer asking her how to factor in the virus' impact on the markets.

“We have to expect constant volatility," Bartiromo cautioned. "Up 1,000, down 1,000. A lot of back and forth. Why? Because there’s so much nervousness on Wall Street and throughout the country. We don’t know enough. We have not gotten enough administration. The administration tried to get ahead of that. They said we will see more cases."

She continued, “My sources are telling me, and I don’t want to panic anybody … we’re going to see tens of thousands – ultimately hundreds of thousands of cases in the United States. This is going to happen. That’s why the administration is trying to get ahead of it."

Except the administration isn't trying to get ahead of it. Not at all. Trump is engaged in some kind of magical thinking. Elizabeth Warren ripped into his incompetence during an interview with Rachel Maddow. “An incompetent administration is like its own natural disaster,” she explained.

It’s now all but certain that Kentucky voters will have to show a photo identification before casting a ballot for president and other federal and state offices in November’s general election.

The Kentucky House of Representatives voted 62-35 Tuesday in favor of the proposal, fulfilling a campaign pledge of Secretary of State Michael Adams that has marched through the legislature despite a lack of evidence of in-person voter fraud.

The House made changes to Senate Bill 2, which means it must go back to the Senate for final approval before being sent to Gov. Andy Beshear for his signature or veto.

Beshear, a Democrat, said Wednesday he opposes the bill because he “can’t support any bill that makes it harder to vote.” Any veto, though, would likely get overturned by the Republican-led legislature.

University of Kentucky election law professor Josh Douglas has warned lawmakers in the Senate and House that voter identification bills can do more harm than good and has repeatedly asked for changes to the bill.

Under the bill, anyone who shows up to vote with a photo ID (including a Kentucky driver’s license, a government issued photo ID, a college ID or a valid photo ID from another state) will be able to vote like normal. The Kentucky State Board of Elections has said 98 percent of Kentuckians show a photo ID when they vote.

Anyone who does not have a photo ID can vote only after they show a non-photo ID and sign a form affirming who they are and why they don’t have an ID. If someone does not have identification but is personally known by a precinct officer, they will be allowed to vote.

Democrats Will Go After Trump Kids Crimes If He Pushes Ukraine Conspiracy

Democrats Will Go After Trump Kids Crimes If He Pushes Ukraine Conspiracy

Democrats are telling Joe Biden to get ready to punch back hard on Ukraine, and warning that the corruption of Trump’s kids will be fair game in the election.

Politico reported:

For some Democrats, the key to neutralizing the impending attacks is for Biden to turn them right back around on the president, questioning the Trump children’s many financial and business entanglements as they continue to advise their father — both formally and informally — while he’s in the White House.

“If Donald Trump wants to talk about children, let’s talk about the president’s children and the immense amount of money they’re making off of their father’s name,” said Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.), who hasn’t endorsed in the Democratic primary. “I’m Irish too, so you fight back hard. When somebody throws this kind of sleaze at you, you respond.”

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are already under investigation in the House for everything from using private email to hide government communications to security clearance violations.

The FBI has also been investigating an Ivanka Trump business deal:

If Trump keeps pushing the baseless and debunked Ukraine conspiracy theory, Democrats are going to unload on Trump with all of the crime and corruption of his adult kids.

It isn’t 2016 anymore, and this time, Democrats are ready to fight back.
