Where Presidential Candidate Joe Biden Stands On Marijuana

Published 1 hour ago on April 25, 2019 By Kyle Jaeger

Former Vice President Joe Biden is making another run for the White House, he announced on Thursday. The former senator, who served as chair of the influential Judiciary Committee that helped shape U.S. drug policy during an era of heightened scaremongering and criminalization, was among the most prominent Democratic drug warriors in Congress for decades.

And while many 2020 Democratic candidates have evolved significantly on drug policy—and particularly marijuana reform—over the years, Biden has barely budged. While he’s recognized the long-term harms of certain pieces of legislation he supported and has made some efforts to attempt to repair that damage, overall he’s maintained a firm opposition to cannabis legalization—a stance that sets him far apart from every other major Democratic contender.

When are the first debates?

I so far can't decide. I voted for Sanders and then Clinton last time.

This time I can't decide between :

Sanders
O'Rourke
Buttegieg
Harris

Maybe others I hadn't considered.

Can someone of you who are supporter of these or others give me a pitch as to why I should support your candidate?

This is not Mexico' Chambers Co. commissioner under fire for what he posted on KHOU live stream

CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas — A Chambers County commissioner is under fire for comments he posted on a KHOU 11 live stream on Monday.

The Facebook stream was of Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo updating the media on the ITC Deer Park fire. During the press conference, Hidalgo spoke in both Spanish and English. After she addressed the media in Spanish, Chambers County Commissioner Mark Tice commented, “She is a joke. English this is not Mexico.”

Email sent to Joe Biden

As the 2020 Democratic Presidential Campaigns heat up and knowing that Joe might (or might not) be running, I have several serious questions that I need answered before I could support Joe.

1. Are you still against marijuana legalization? What is your stance on medical marijuana?

2. Will you apologize for your support of draconian drug laws enacted in the 1980s and 1990s and vow to work toward reforming the drug law away from punishment and toward prevention, compassion and helping drug users with addictions?

TRANSCRIPT: NOTICIAS TELEMUNDO'S EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH VICE PRESIDENT MIKE PENCE

Source: Telemundo

MIAMI -March 6, 2019-US Vice President Mike Pence granted his first exclusive interview to a Spanish-language network since taking office to Noticias Telemundo's Washington, D.C. correspondent Cristina Londoo. The interview took place today in Washington, D.C. and covered immigration, the upcoming presidential elections and the crisis in Venezuela, among other subjects of interest to the Hispanic community.

This is a rush transcript and it's subject to change. If you quote the following material please credit "Noticias Telemundo."

.....

CL: The Trump administration has worked really hard and fought tooth and nail to get their campaign promises. One of them was having a heart towards the DACA recipients and the TPS recipients. That side of the promise we have not seen yet. Are they forgotten?

MP: The President and I couldn't be more proud of the progress of the Latino community under this administration. We have cut taxes, rolled back regulation, expanded opportunity for businesses and now more Hispanic Americans are working today than ever before in our nation's history. But the President has also called for reforms of our immigration system. Our immigration system is broken. We have a crisis at our Southern border and the President is going to continue to call on the Congress to support border security, to support his declaration of a national emergency. But once we secure our border, the President has made it very clear that whether it's DACA recipients, TPS, or other issues, that when Congress is ready to actually address the loopholes in our system that human traffickers and drug cartels use to entice vulnerable families to take the long and dangerous journey up to our Southern border, we're ready to make those reforms. We're ready to do that with compassion and commitment to the rule of law, but everything begins with border security.

As the wife of a TPS holder, I find his calling humanitarian programs for vulnerable people loopholes offensive.
