Duppers's JournalHow did I know without opening the thread. 😉
We have this in common, Jilly.
You only have to go 20miles north, northeast or northwest of Knoxville to reach the 18th century.
- quoting my hubby.
Interesting facts about the place:
Han Solo lands his Millennium Falcon there ever so often.
Translation: Harrison Ford lands his jet there - his in-laws live in Morristown. The airport he lands at was managed by the late Evelyn Johnson who had the record of the most number of flying hours of any female in the world. I had the pleasure of briefly knowing her decades ago.
YES!
Actually, they all should be boycotted and bankrupted. Fossil fuels & fossil fuel companies are evil.
I'll praise the day when electric cars become really affordable and charging stations are everywhere.
Here's a big problem...

Amen, sister! Preach it!
I hurt every day too but I'm sure not as badly as you do.
I have a torn meniscus in my rt knee, severe bursitis in my left hip, was recently diagnosed with spinal scoliosis which causes my L leg to be shorter than my rt one. Add insomnia, arthritis, and CFS/ME (CFIDS) to all of this. No wonder sleeping is a problem.
However, I know a sweet DUer here who practically cannot walk, so I'm not inclined to feel very sorry for myself.
Good people are never nasty to others just because we feel bad. That's just a sick, narcissistic excuse.
Wow! Thank you!
I watched the clip 3x's, with the sound turned up, & grinning each time. And I'm going to watch it again!
Such lovely loud "Echoes in the Canyon," to borrow a phrase.
Plus, that's an amazing shot you posted!
Hubby had a classmate/friend, a young physician, who LOVED stock car racing. Sadly, he was killed in a motorcycle accident.
Anyway, Johnny always said that watching those races was a "such a surge." Perhaps that's the best word I could use to describe watching these aircraft - they're a surge!!
Years ago, we used to live within ~2.3 miles of Langley AFB and I often drove by just as an F-15's or an F-16's was taking off, as they often were. The runway stopped just short of the Base's fence which was within just a few yards of the street. Talk about feeling a force - it was driving by when one of those things was beginning a vertical climb within a few hundred yards above your car top! I imagine that's the same "surge" you got when photographing the flying expertise in Star Wars Canyon, Ross!
Thanks again!
Exactly! Sedition.

Yes, weird, right?!
It's in Pigeon Forge (outside of Sevierville), a strip-mall type of tourist town right on the outskirts of the most beautiful mountains in the eastern U.S., the Great Smoky Mountain Nat'l Park.
The tourist industry constructs these ugly monstrosities to make $. People gotta see the junk & pay the bucks to entertain the kiddies. If that your goal, please take 'em to DisneyWorld, ffs. Don't keep supporting attractions that are trashing up the natural beauty.
My nature-loving .02 cents here.
I feel the same. 🐾
If my special fur-kids aren't there, it's not heaven.
Your Whiskers does sound as if he was a very special cat.
Most all of my babies have given me far more love than most humans. However, the 2 critters I'm currently stuck with cannot match any of my other fur-kids. I'm just not happy with my current dog, inherited fr my mother, or this little devil cat.
When folks say they don't like dogs or don't like kitties, I think either they've not given them a chance OR they've not met the right ones. Each pet is different.
You did try!
Respect!
Here's my too-long story: hubby bought me a small 25 Beretta handgun because he thought I could be in danger working in a field construction trailer. He was right! One evening after everyone had left & I was gathering my things, one roughneck employee knocked & told me his time chart wasn't correct. My error was that I had not yet locked the door. Smelling alcohol & suspecting something was up, I sat behind my desk & put my hand inside my purse. As he too quickly made his intentions obvious, I put the gun in his face, holding it with both hands. Never been so scared in my life! The guy immediately left & I immediately called the cops. He was picked up & charged with drunk driving & spent the weekend in jail. His wife, I was told, refused his bail. He was fired. (So yes, I carried & was glad I did.) Why do some men think they can do these things?!
I question why there should be exemptions...
..to begin with.
This:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.." Then, why should there be any exemption from taxation for churches? That requires special considerations and law.
Please tell me why I'm wrong.
On edit: Not questioning you, Joe, but folks in general.
