Wtf?
It was Friday. Mathews was at work, getting ready for a shoot at his downtown Birmingham studio, when he got a call from his husband. His husband said there were four game wardens from the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division, three vehicles blocking the driveways, and they had a search warrant. They were coming for the four-year-old opossum.
“Why did you need four wardens? Why did you need three vehicles to surround my house, when I have one possum who is not doing anything wrong?” Mathews said.
A representative for the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division did not respond to AL.com’s request for comment by the time of publication.
“What about the people who are poaching and killing endangered animals? What about people who are fighting dogs and chickens? What about the people who are starving horses?” he said.
Well, it's g.d. Alabam, that's why. And these guys are gay. Hell, the great Ken Burns' PBS series on Muhammad Ali is not being broadcast in AL....or in any Tennessee location I checked. And folks wonder why this southern old gal bashes the South? It's because these states still have their heads up their asses!
But Jesus saves them from Covid, don't you know.

Just today we learned that our neighbors lost their beloved old golden who was a good friend of our Missy. I'm sitting here still wiping tears for dear Duke. Duke's owner said he's shed far more tears for Duke than he has for any family member. I can identify; our Missy showed us far more compassion & affection than any family member ever has**. Yes, so often our critters give us more than family members do.
** Was referring to birth family here, not my immediate family - hubby & son have been most compassionate.

He's 3 doors down, an ex-cop, and keeps a black American flag hanging at his driveway.* He also has very high-wattage security lights around his house at night.
Just a few nights ago my husband said a huge flash went off when he was walking our dog passed this guy's house. He's making random photos of innocent folks just passing on the street. The neighborhood knows we're Democratic, btw.
A great deal of our neighborhood are ex-military but he's the only one we fear might actually take action against us minority Dems if the call were made.
Hubby feels the need to purchase a shotgun & ammo.

NYT update for Blount Co...
Cases have increased recently and are extremely high. The numbers of hospitalized Covid patients and deaths in the Blount County area have also risen. The test positivity rate in Blount County is very high, suggesting that cases are being significantly undercounted.
Because of high spread, the C.D.C. recommends that even vaccinated people wear masks here.
