Storytelling Won The Election

Like I’m doing right now, Trump told a grossly simplistic story in his campaign. If you’re reading this, you’re probably a pointy-headed blue-stater like me, and you’re probably repelled by that story’s worldview. But beyond that, you also probably feel contemptuous of it as a story. Because 1) it’s grossly simplistic, and 2) he made a bunch of stuff up.

But as a story, it was super effective. It was very easy to understand. You could remember all of it, and it was about America. It addressed the same audience every time, and it pointed to obvious solutions that the Democrats were not going to do. Immigrants are taking your jobs; I am going to kick them out! Muslims and black people want to kill us; I am going to stop them and jail them! Comfy city-dwellers on the coasts don’t believe or care that your jobs are gone or crappy; I hate those freaking people as much as you and will not allow them to run things anymore!

Trump To Settle New York's Trump University Fraud Suit For 25M

The New York Daily News reports:

In a complete turnaround from his previous position, President-elect Donald Trump is nearing a settlement of the fraud cases brought in New York and California involving his now defunct for-profit Trump University, the Daily News has learned.

Under the emerging deal being negotiated by Trump’s lawyers, New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and the law firm that brought a class action lawsuit regarding Trump University in California, the president-elect will agree to pay between $20 million and $25 million to settle the matter, a source with knowledge of the situation said.

Trump will not admit to any wrongdoing in the final agreement, which could be announced as soon as Friday, the source said. During the presidential campaign, Trump had threatened to have his executives reopen the school once the cases were done. It’s not clear if that was bluster or if the settlement will bar that from happening even if he was serious.

Trump camp itself now saying that Comey enabled him to win the election

FBI's decision to reopen Clinton email probe enabled Donald Trump to win election, says former aide Corey Lewandowski

"With eleven days to go, something amazing happened," Mr Lewandowski said in a speech at the Oxford Union debating society on Wednesday evening.

"The FBI's director James (Comey) came out on a Friday and he said they may be reopening the investigation into Crooked Hillary's emails.

"What that did was remind people that there are two different rules in Washington - those of the elites, and the privileged and those for everybody else.

"When Comey moved forward with that investigation... it allowed the campaign a little spring in their step, and for them to redouble their efforts."
