Zimmerman's Physical Fact Challenge---And we're supposed to believe Trayvon was the aggressor here?

FRI MAR 30, 2012 AT 09:20 AM PDT
Zimmerman's Physical Fact Challenge
by Vyan

...............

The next part is most intersting, Trayvon is inside the gate, Zimmerman is outside and in order to catch up he has to drive in by "The Clubhouse". That means he did this.

...........................

So that leads us to this, and the final confrontation.

I'm accounting here, slightly, for the fact that Trayvon had a head start after entering the gate - but Look how much further Zimmerman had to have traveled on foot in order to catch up!

What he and his family would like for us to believe is something more like this.... which would mean that Trayvon was even further ahead, and decided to double-back for some reason when he's been retreating this entire time.

Of course, there's no evidence of the "doubling-back" based on the sworn statement by his girlfriend - but wait it gets worse. Zimmerman's claim is that Trayvon "Cold Cocked" him. That means he hit him from behind before getting him on the ground, that would mean that after chasing all this distance, Zimmerman turned around too. Something like this.

So after all this mad-dash driving to catch up, all this running - we're supposed to buy the idea that Zimmerman just quit, then suddenly Trayvon - who'd been leaving this entire time and was almost home - decided to turn around and chase Zimmerman? Then supposedly he got on top of George, had him immobilized - smashing his head against the concrete - even though on the video he doesn't look injured, doesn't have a bloody nose, doesn't have visible lacerations or bleeding on the back of his head and doesn't have visible grass stains on his jacket.

TRAYVON MARTIN: ‘HE’S JUST LIKE US’

TRAYVON MARTIN: ‘HE’S JUST LIKE US’
Killing of black Fla. teen resonates with Boston students

They see themselves in the images of Trayvon Martin that stare from television and computer screens. They relate to the sting of being “suspicious’’ for doing little else than just being themselves and they worry that their accommodations to the fears of others won’t be enough to keep them safe - or alive.

“Who’s next?’’ wondered senior Sarah Shephard, whose sentiment was shared by her peers at New Mission High, a small Boston school tucked among colorful Victorian-style homes 1,300 miles from where Martin, an unarmed black Florida teen, was gunned down by a neighborhood watch captain who said the teen appeared to be up to no good.

Martin’s death has reverberated through the hallways and classrooms at New Mission High in a way not seen before. “Because,’’ explained sophomore Jared Brown, “he’s just like us. We’re in high school. We’re black. We’re teenagers. It could have been any one of us.’’

And while many are captured by the rapidly evolving story, watching videos of protest marches and listening to recordings of the 911 calls, some students said they were surprised the story has gone viral, galvanizing thousands. When asked why, they answered that people have almost become desensitized to the loss of young black lives.

House GOP: Rape Prevention Measures an Unreasonable Luxury

House GOP: Rape Prevention Measures an Unreasonable Luxury
—By Tim Murphy| Thu Mar. 29, 2012 3:00 AM PDT
Rep. Zoe Lofgren: "I don't think that it's a 'hospitality' guideline to prevent rape of detainees"

The Karnes County (Texas) ICE detention center, as imagined by Rep. Lamar Smith. GekaSkr/Shutterstock
On Wednesday, as most of official Washington was fixing its gaze squarely on the Supreme Court, the House Committee on the Judiciary convened a hearing on another issue: the supposedly posh conditions at the Department of Homeland Security's immigrant detention centers. The hearing, dubbed "Holiday on ICE" by chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas), focused on the idea that Obama administration rules intended to prevent sexual abuse and inhumane conditions at Immigrations and Customs Enforcement facilities made detention too fancy. ---"War on Women," meet "War on Immigrant Women."

...............................

The new standards, unveiled in February, were meant to ensure a basic threshold of human rights at an agency marred by serial abuse, sexual and otherwise. As the Los Angeles Times explained, "Among other things, the new rules improve access to mental health care and legal assistance, and establish additional safeguards for reporting mistreatment." New rules set up a hotline for immigrants to report abuse, and require strip searches—a common source of sexual assault charges—to be conducted by guards of the same gender.

If you think that sounds like a badly needed (if incomplete) fix, you're probably not a member of the House Republican caucus, though. "It's outrageous that immigration detention facilities have morphed into college campuses," said Rep. Elton Gallegy (R-Calif.). "Under this administration, detention looks more like recess," Smith proclaimed. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) attempted to turn the immigrant rights advocates' figures against them, arguing that, comparatively speaking, the number of detainees who have died while awaiting deportation is actually quite small: "110 deaths is not alarming to me," he explained, suggesting that immigrants were actually safer in an ICE detention center than they were "in the broader society." But as one witness, ICE assistant director Kevin Landy, pointed out, King was comparing apples and oranges. The detention population does not mirror the broader population: Immigrants in their mid-30s generally don't die of old age.

...........................

So it was up to Rep. Zoe Lofgren, a California Democrat, to put the proceedings in their proper context: "This hearing demonstrates the Republican Party's war on immigrants, and here we see where this war meets the war on women," she suggested in her opening remarks. Lofgren, who noted that Gallegy had personally called her up to apologize for the name of the hearing, cited the case of Francisco Castaneda, a Salvadoran immigrant who, while detained in San Diego, complained frequently to ICE officials about a growing lesion on his penis. ICE denied access to a doctor, and he eventually died of penile cancer. In 2008, a federal judge ruled that ICE's treatment of Castaneda went "beyond cruel and unusual."

No blood stains, no grass stains, no self-defense

"Zimmerman was placed in the rear of my police vehicle and was given First Aid by SFD (Rescue 38) ... At no point did I question Zimmerman about the incident that had taken place. Once Zimmerman was cleared by SFD he was transported to Sanford Police Department."

http://cnninsession.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/martinpolicreport.pdf

The back seat of a police squad car! WHAT!

So, police at the scene of the murder and Sanford Fire Department Rescue 38 thought George's injuries did not require him be put in an ambulance for treatment, rather, his injuries only required first aid in the back seat of a cop car and then "cleared" him for any: concussion, swelling or bleeding of the brain, whiplash, broken nose and no bandage to cover alleged open head wound.

Talk to any EMT and they will tell you that if they have a subject who has had their head beat on a sidewalk, especially to the point of bleeding from the head, the EMT will:

- inspect the head for swelling
- clean wound and BANDAGE wound
- extend bandage 1 inch beyond edges of wound
- check heart rate for sign of concussion (which is severe brain injury)
- check reflexes
- Put a cervical collar on patient prior and take to hospital to test for Whiplash
- take subject to hospital for CT-Scan of the head to see if brain is swelling and/or bleeding of the brain.

None of that was done to George Zimmerman in the back seat of the police squad car. In fact, from looking at Police Surveillance video, SFD and police would have let George leave the scene with open head wounds ... open head wounds! COME ON!

Republicans retreat on gay marriage

Source: Politico

It’s been one of the swiftest shifts in ideology and strategy for Republicans, as they’ve come nearly full circle on same-sex politics. What was once a front-and-center issue for rank-and-file Republicans — the subject of many hotly worded House and Senate floor speeches — is virtually a dead issue, as Republicans in Congress don’t care to have gay marriage litigated in the Capitol.

Even more than that, Republican leadership has evolved, too. It has quietly worked behind the scenes to kill amendments that reaffirm opposition to same-sex unions, several sources told POLITICO.

It’s not like the GOP has become a bastion of progressiveness on gay rights, but there has been an evolution in the political approach — and an acknowledgment of a cultural shift in the country. Same-sex relationships are more prominent and accepted. There are more gay public figures — including politicians — and it’s likely that many Washington Republicans have gay friends and coworkers. Just as important — there’s also a libertarian streak of acceptance on people’s sexuality coursing through the House Republican Conference.

“In one decade, what’s shocking on TV is accepted as commonplace in the other,” said Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), a veteran of the culture wars of the 1990s. “It’s the same with sexual morays all over that if you look at campuses and universities, they have a lot of gay pride clubs and so there has been a deliberate and effective outreach to the younger generation about being more accepting of same-sex relationships.”

BUSH Admin Leaked Sensitive Info To START Wars---OBAMA Admin Leaks Info To STOP Them

Israelis Suspect Obama Media Leaks to Prevent Strike on Iran

.......................

Two reports today about Iran’s nuclear program and the possibility of an Israeli military strike have analysts in Israel accusing the Obama administration leaking information to pressure Israel not to bomb Iran and for Iran to reach a compromise in upcoming nuclear talks.

The first report in Foreign Policy quotes anonymous American officials saying that Israel has been given access to airbases by Iran’s northern neighbor Azerbaijan from which Israel could launch air strikes or at least drones and search and rescue aircraft.

The second report from Bloomberg, based on a leaked congressional report, said that Iran’s nuclear facilities are so dispersed that it is “unclear what the ultimate effect of a strike would be…” A strike could delay Iran as little as six months, a former official told the researchers.

“It seems like a big campaign to prevent Israel from attacking,” analyst Yoel Guzansky at the Institute for National Security Studies told ABC News. “I think the Obama administration is really worried Jerusalem will attack and attack soon. They’re trying hard to prevent it in so many ways.”

A clinic’s landlord turns the tables on anti-abortion protesters

A clinic’s landlord turns the tables on anti-abortion protesters
"I’ve been a member of this fight since Roe v. Wade, since I was 5 years old,” he said. The office was firebombed when he was a kid, and protesters gathered outside the family home as he was growing up. So he’s no stranger to the harassment and bullying of doctors and their families.

..................................

But his tormentors crossed the line last fall when a big group showed up at his daughter’s middle school on the first day of classes and again at back-to-school night. They had signs displaying his name and contact information as well as those gory images of the fetuses.

“What parent wants to have that conversation with an 11-year-old on the first day of school?” he fumed.

Soon after that, the harassing calls started coming to his home. By the dozens, at all hours. Friends asked him how they could help. He began to take down the names and phone numbers of people who made unwanted calls. And he gave the information to his friends and asked them to call these folks back.

“In a very calm, very respectful voice, they said that the Stave family thanks you for your prayers,” he said. “They cannot terminate the lease, and they do not want to. They support women’s rights.”
