OMG!-Sen Vitter: "Koch Brothers are two of the most patriotic Americans in the history of the Earth"

Vitter made the comments during a March 18 town hall at Blanchard Elementary School in Blanchard, Louisiana.

"I think the Koch Brothers are two of the most patriotic Americans in the history of the Earth," Vitter said. That line sparked applause from the audience.

Later on during the town hall, Vitter heaped some more praise on the Koch brothers, which again, sparked applause.

"Maybe this is a good example because I'll be honest with you, God Bless the Koch brothers," Vitter added. "They're fighting for our freedoms."

The biggest lease holder in Canada’s oil sands ISN'T Exxon Mobil or Chevron---IT'S THE KOCH BROTHERS

You might expect the biggest lease owner in Canada's oil sands, or tar sands, to be one of the international oil giants, like Exxon Mobil or Royal Dutch Shell. But that isn't the case. The biggest lease holder in the northern Alberta oil sands is a subsidiary of Koch Industries, the privately-owned cornerstone of the fortune of conservative Koch brothers Charles and David.

The Koch Industries subsidiary holds leases on 1.1 million acres -- an area nearly the size of Delaware -- in the oil sands region of Alberta, Canada, according to an activist group that studied Alberta provincial records. The Post confirmed the group’s findings with Alberta Energy, the provincial government’s ministry of energy. Separately, industry sources familiar with oil sands leases said Koch’s lease holdings could be closer to two million acres. The companies with the next biggest net acreage positions in oil sands leases are Conoco Phillips and Shell, both close behind.

What is Koch Industries doing there? The company wouldn't comment on its holdings or strategy, but it appears to be a long-term investment that could produce tens of thousands of barrels of the region's thick brand of crude oil in the next three years and perhaps hundreds of thousands of barrels a few years after that.

The finding about the Koch acreage is likely to inflame the already contentious debate about the Keystone XL Pipeline and spur activists and environmentalists seeking to slow or stop planned expansions of production from the northern Alberta oil sands, or tar sands. Environmental groups have already made opposing the pipeline their leading cause this spring and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has called the Koch brothers Charles and David “un-American” and “shadowy billionaires.”

Obama Mocks O’Really: “First of all-If you read Lincoln, he loved telling the occasional bawdy joke"

Obama Fires Back At O’Reilly: Lincoln Absolutely Would Have Done “Two Ferns”
“First of all, if you read back on Lincoln, he loved telling the occasional bawdy joke,” the president tells ESPN Radio.

“First of all, if you read back on Lincoln, he loved telling the occasional bawdy joke and being out among regular folks,” Obama said.

As the Washington Post reported in 2012, Lincoln was indeed a jokester. And some of them didn’t always land. A story with the punch line “Now, by God, I’ll see if I can’t cut up this turkey without farting” was included in the Post’s list of Lincoln’s worst jokes.

"Be happy everybody," he says in a video of him dancing uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday. "That's what the government is supposed to do, bring happiness to everybody."

Wisconsin Republican Legislator Tears Into His Own Party For Voter Suppression

SCHULTZ: It’s just, I think, sad when a political party — my political party — has so lost faith in its ideas that it’s pouring all of its energy into election mechanics. And again, I’m a guy who understands and appreciates what we should be doing in order to make sure every vote counts, every vote is legitimate. But that fact is, it ought to be abundantly clear to everybody in this state that there is no massive voter fraud. The only thing that we do have in this state is we have long lines of people who want to vote. And it seems to me that we should be doing everything we can to make it easier, to help these people get their votes counted. And that we should be pitching as political parties our ideas for improving things in the future, rather than mucking around in the mechanics and making it more confrontational at the voting sites and trying to suppress the vote.

Attorney General to State Police: Stop photographing protesters at Chris Christie town halls

Source: NJ Star Ledger

TRENTON — The acting state attorney general and the State Police superintendent today ordered the State Police to stop photographing protesters at Gov. Chris Christie’s town hall meetings "for security or any other purposes."

The order came the day after a town hall meeting in South River where a man who identified himself as a member of the State Police photographed people who interrupted the governor’s usually highly orchestrated events.

Acting Attorney General John Hoffman issued the following statement:

“The State Police is responsible for the safety and security of the Governor and the public at town hall meetings. In doing so, the State Police are careful to guarantee that First Amendment rights are respected and the public — whether expressing positive or negative sentiments toward the Governor and his policies — have ample opportunity to make their positions known. That said, the Colonel and I have instructed the State Police to no longer photograph at these events for security or any other purposes.”

State police on Tuesday would not confirm or deny the person taking pictures was a member of the State Police.

Terrifying Precedent: Woman to Be Tried for Murder for Giving Birth to Stillborn When She Was 16

Terrifying Precedent: Woman to Be Tried for Murder for Giving Birth to Stillborn When She Was 16
Frightening gambit by pro-lifers to charge women for murder of stillborns due to 'fetal harm' is getting its day in court.

March 19, 2014 |

Rennie Gibbs’s daughter, Samiya, was a month premature when she simultaneously entered the world and left it, never taking a breath. To experts who later examined the medical record, the stillborn infant’s most likely cause of death was also the most obvious: the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck.

But within days of Samiya’s delivery in November 2006, Steven Hayne, Mississippi’s de facto medical examiner at the time, came to a different conclusion. Autopsy tests had turned up traces of a cocaine byproduct in Samiya’s blood, and Hayne declared her death a homicide, caused by “cocaine toxicity.”

In early 2007, a Lowndes County grand jury indicted Gibbs, a 16-year-old black teen, for “depraved heart murder” — defined under Mississippi law as an act “eminently dangerous to others…regardless of human life.” By smoking crack during her pregnancy, the indictment said, Gibbs had “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously” caused the death of her baby. The maximum sentence: life in prison.

Seven years and much legal wrangling later, Gibbs could finally go on trial this spring — part of a wave of “fetal harm” cases across the country in recent years that pit the rights of the mother against what lawmakers, health care workers, prosecutors, judges, jurors, and others view as the rights of the unborn child.
