ABC's Jim Avila peppered White House Press Secretary Jay Carney with questions during a daily press briefing about President Obama's appearance on FunnyOrDie.com's interview series with actor Zach Galifianakis. The president plugged HealthCare.gov during the interview, a part of a concerted effort to reach young Americans.
"How much discussion was there in the White House about the dignity of the office and whether or not, in order to reach these people who don't watch us at 6:30, or who don't watch this briefing," Avila asked, according to a transcript provided to TPM, "how much the dignity of the office might be lost? This is an interview like no other probably ever done by a president."
..............
"I understand the purpose, but was the presidency in any way damaged?" Avila continued.
"No," Carney said. "We obviously assess opportunities that we have and look at whether or not they're going to be successful and wise, and I think we made the right call here."

Hillary is sick. Of the media.
.....In case you havent heard, Hillary Clinton may have a secret, terrible illness that will prevent her from running for president in 2016. Rush Limbaugh, The Daily Caller, Matt Drudge and Roger Stone, often described as a self-admitted GOP hit man, have spread the rumor.
On Feb. 24 of this year, Stone, who now says he is a Libertarian, tweeted: @HillaryClinton not running for health reasons. Remember you heard it first from the #StoneZone.
Four days later, Rush Limbaugh began a broadcast: Whispers are persisting, whispers theres a whisper campaign, folks that Mrs. Clinton is sick; that she will not run for the presidency because she is sick.
...............
............She is currently engaged in a vigorous national speaking tour, making, some say, as much as $250,000 per speech.
.............
If Hillary is flying around the country, knocking down a quarter mil a speech while being ill, Ill have what shes having.

Putin Actions “Crazy” Says Bill Clinton
This is a crazy way to approach the 21st century. The only thing that works is creative cooperation. President Bill Clinton [Politico]IN DELAWARE, speaking at the conference Opportunity: Africa, former President Bill Clinton weighed in on events in Ukraine. It was a world away from what was happening in Crimea, the dramatic events unfolding all day.
According to reporting by Politico, Clinton said the Ukrainians want to be a bridge between the East and the West. Clinton also made a point to take the side of the Ukrainians who ousted Viktor Yanukovych, saying they were trying to right the wrongs of excess and bad leadership.

The main problem about Obamacare is that it is associated with Obama.
That, of course, is the ACA exchange in Washington state.
In red states, people don't like Obama so Obamacare going to be a handicap there.
It really has nothing to do with the actual details of the law.

Why men shouldn’t be allowed to vote (1915)
In honor of Womens History Month, which started on March 8, I bring you the works of Alice Duer Miller, a feminist writer for the New York Tribune, back in 1915.
Im rather amazed that any newspaper had a feminist writer back in 1915.
The image below is a poster made from one of Duers articles in a collection titled Are Women People? The Library of Congress has a copy that you can breeze through.
Heres the poster. When I first saw it, I thought it was a joke meaning, someone had photoshopped it and claimed it was really old. It is in fact really old. Its just great. 1915. Wow.

Congress to constituents: “Show me the money”
Congress to constituents: Show me the money
BY CHRISTOPHER INGRAHAM
March 11 at 10:31 am
Matea Gold reports today on the first ever randomized field experiment to assess the influence of campaign contributions on legislators behavior. While the results shouldnt come as a surprise to anyone familiar with U.S. politics (spoiler alert: money = access), the study takes a first crack at quantifying exactly how money influences the legislative process.
..................
Are Congressmen and their senior staffers more likely to grant face-time to potential campaign donors than to other constituents? The results are laid out in the chart below. The authors write:
Senior policymakers attended the meetings considerably more frequently when Congressional offices were informed that the meeting attendees were donors. Only 2.4% of offices arranged meetings with a Member of Congress or Chief of Staff when they believed the attendees were merely constituents, but 12.5% did so when the attendees were revealed to be donors. Members of Congress and Chiefs of Staff were thus five times as likely to make themselves available for putative donors as for constituents.
Two additional points are worth noting: success rates for meetings with Congressmen were low overall, but the study authors note that non-donors rarely obtained any meetings with Congressmen or chiefs of staff. This suggests that being a donor is a near-necessary condition for obtaining high-level Congressional access, but it is not a sufficient one.
