kpete's JournalPhysicist offers $10,000 to anyone who can disprove "man-made global climate change"
The $10,000 Global Warming Skeptic Challenge!
I have heard global warming skeptics make all sorts of statements about how the science doesn't support claims of man-made climate change. I have found all of those statements to be empty and without any kind of supporting evidence. I have, in turn, stated that it is not possible for the skeptics to prove their claims. And, I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is.
I am announcing the start of the $10,000 Global Warming Skeptic Challenge. The rules are easy:
1. I will award $10,000 of my own money to anyone that can prove, via the scientific method, that man-made global climate change is not occurring;
2. There is no entry fee;
3. You must be 18 years old or older to enter;
4. Entries do not have to be original, they only need to be first;
5. I am the final judge of all entries but will provide my comments on why any entry fails to prove the point.
That's it! I know you are not going to get rich with $10,000. But, tell me, wouldn't you like to have a spare $10,000? After all, the skeptics all claim it is a simple matter, and it doesn't even have to be original. If it is so easy, just cut and paste the proof from somewhere. Provide the scientific evidence and prove your point and the $10,000 is yours!
This is no joke. If someone can provide a proof that I can't refute, using scientific evidence, then I will write them a check.
But, I am sure I will never have to because it can't be proven. The scientific evidence for global warming is overwhelming and no one can prove otherwise.
Any takers?

DICK: “We’re decimating the defense budget, not Al Qaeda."
We need to dramatically reverse course on our defense budget, Cheney said. Were decimating the defense budget, not Al Qaeda. We need to go back to a two-war strategy, not the one-war strategy he has in place.

Starry Nights
"This morning I saw the country from my window a long time before sunrise, with nothing but the morning star, which looked very big," van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo, from France. Rooted in imagination and memory, The Starry Night embodies an inner, subjective expression of van Goghs response to nature. In thick, sweeping brushstrokes, a flamelike cypress unites the churning sky and the quiet village below. The village was partly invented, and the church spire evokes van Gogh's native land, the Netherlands.

New study: More women shot & killed by domestic partners than all US soldiers who died in Iraq/Afgha
New study finds more women shot and killed by domestic partners than all US soldiers who died in Iraq and AfghanistanFormer Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was nearly killed in a 2011 mass shooting in Tucson, Arizona, and has since become a leading advocate for gun control, has embarked upon a campaign that aims to rally women to get behind tougher gun laws. Her efforts come as a new report showed that from 2001 through 2012, more women were shot and killed by intimate partners than all U.S. troops who were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

Women can lead the way, Giffords told a panel discussion Wednesday in Washington, D.C.
In 2013, efforts to increase the scope of background checks to include online and gun show sales failed just four months after the killing of 20 children and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
....................................
Criminals who have guns, stalkers who have guns, abusers who have guns that make them violent are an issue for mothers, for families, for me and you, Giffords said.

At long last, Dick Cheney is finally the right man at the right time.
It's too late for Dick Cheney to rehab his legacy. The American people have made their decision about the Iraq War. Today, we are looking to a future where we use our military only when necessary and instead use America's leadership role to create free and just societies, and it is in the contrast of Cheneys gruff style with Obamas cool pragmatism that the former Vice President proves most useful.
The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, presents the U.S. with a new, post-al Qaeda enemy that has destabilized a region from Palestine to Baghdad. ISIL has kidnapped the Turkish consul general in Mosul, a clear incursion against a NATO ally. We have real interests in this region and are the only ones capable of leading a multilateral coalition to prevent Iraqs collapse.
But we will accomplish nothing if our only two options are Cheneys invade-first strategy and Pauls isolationism. Thank God for Dick Cheney. Before this week, Obamas options were limited by a public justifiably tired of international entanglements. Now all he has to do is jab a thumb at the lot of Cheney, John McCain, and the rest of the Iraq War apologists and promise that whatever happens, hes not repeating their mistakes. At long last, Dick Cheney is finally the right man at the right time.

Chuck Todd and Ed Henry Caught Mocking McCain on Hot Mic
Oh, the things we hear when they forget to turn their mics down. Here we have Chuck Todd and Ed Henry yukking it up together over their imagined McCain palpitations over Petraeus' comments on air strikes in Iraq.
Via Mediaite:
Whats funny is that McCain was on our air an hour ago saying we should send Petraeus to Iraq, Henry remarked, referring to an earlier appearance the senator did on Fox. But meanwhile, Petraeus gave a speech a day earlier saying the U.S. cant be the air force for Iraq.
Something tells me Senator McGrumpy will not be amused.
It really does give a closer look at how these guys pal around with each other. Is it any wonder we get groupthink from the Village when they all stand around laughing at what they will soon be reporting on in Very Serious Voices?

Prosecutors Say Walker at Center of 'Criminal Scheme'
Prosecutors allege that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) "was at the center of an effort to illegally coordinate fundraising among conservative groups to help his campaign and those of Republican senators fend off recall elections during 2011 and '12," the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
"In the documents, prosecutors lay out what they call a 'criminal scheme' to bypass state election laws by Walker, his campaign and two top deputies -- R.J. Johnson and Deborah Jordahl."
"The governor and his close confidants helped raise money and control spending through 12 conservative groups during the recall elections... The documents include an email in which Walker tells Karl Rove...that Johnson would lead the coordination campaign."
