TARGET RELEASES NEW SAME-SEX WEDDING REGISTRY AD

TARGET RELEASES NEW SAME-SEX WEDDING REGISTRY AD | Target recently unveiled a new ad for their wedding registry service featuring a gay male couple holding hands and dressed to the nines. The ad proclaims “Be Yourself, Together.” Though the company came under fire for campaign donations to anti-gay marriage political groups and campaigns, Target has been a major sponsor for the Pride festivities in its hometown of Minneapolis, sold pride T-shirts benefiting the Family Equality Council, and ranks high on the Human Rights Campaign’s corporate equality index ranking businesses on LGBT-friendly workplace policies.

Mitt Romney Olympics Gaffe 'Insulted Everybody,' Harry Reid Says (EXCLUSIVE)

..............................

"It's not good for us as a country -- it's not good for him -- but as a country to have somebody that's nominated by one of the principal parties to go over and insult everybody," Reid said.

Romney, who takes great pride in heading the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, caused a media sensation Thursday when he said there were "disconcerting" signals that the British might not be prepared for the coming games.

Reid, in an interview with The Huffington Post, said he didn't understand how Romney could have made such a blunder, and had advice for the GOP hopeful the next time he visits an Olympic Games.

"I think I would have thought up this on my own and not [have to rely] on the staff," said Reid. "I would go there and I would say, 'They have done a remarkably good job. I know how they have been hurt with the economy. But they have done this. I have done it myself. It's so hard to do, and they have done a remarkably good job.' That's what they should have done. He would have been cheered and not have the mayor, before 60,000 people, belittle one of our major party nominees. And that's what the mayor did."

Mitt Romney Registered As Lobbyist For Salt Lake City Olympics

Source: Huffington Post

Romney wasn't just the head of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee. Romney was also a registered lobbyist for the organization, Utah state records show.

Romney last worked as a lobbyist on Dec. 31, 2000, according to a spokesman for the state lieutenant governor, who oversees the registry.

Mitt Romney, former registered lobbyist
And it turns out he was a pretty good lobbyist ... at least as far as getting taxpayer funding is concerned. Romney secured nearly $400 million from state and local government in Utah, plus an additional $1.3 billion dollars from the federal government. That was more than twice the federal funding the Atlanta Olympics had gotten just six years earlier.

REPUKES: "No new regulations can be issued until *the employment rate falls to 6 percent*"

Tempers flare on House floor over GOP typo
By Pete Kasperowicz - 07/25/12 03:25 PM ET

Republicans and Democrats got snippy on the House floor Wednesday over a typo in a GOP deregulation bill, which Democrats have so far refused to let Republicans fix quickly on the floor by unanimous consent.

The bill, H.R. 4078, is meant to prohibit major federal regulations until the unemployment rate falls to 6 percent, but instead says no new regulations can be issued until the employment rate falls to 6 percent.

Earlier in the day, Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said he would not grant unanimous consent to add "un" to the word "employment" and thus fix the bill on the floor. And Wednesday afternoon, Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) indicated that Democrats were not willing yet to allow the quick fix.

House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) asked Connolly if he would object to a unanimous consent request to make the correction. Issa cast the error as a mistake made by professional staff.

NH Newspaper to MITT: “If you want the job, you have to subject yourself to the scrutiny.”

NEW HAMPSHIRE NEWSPAPER CALLS ON ROMNEY TO RELEASE TAX RETURNS |

New Hampshire’s major newspaper, the Union Leader, released an editorial on Thursday calling on Mitt Romney to release his tax returns. “There is no place for secrecy or, indeed, privacy in a Presidential campaign,” the editorial stated. “If you want the job, you have to subject yourself to the scrutiny.” The presidential candidate has been extremely secretive about his tax returns, refusing to release more than two years, and not even fully releasing documents from those years. Romney has not heeded the call of many Republicans who want him to release his returns, so it is unlikely that the Union Leader’s editorial will change his position, despite the fact that the paper is in a swing state.

Netanyahu: Romney Lying About Their Friendship

Netanyahu: Romney Lying About Their Friendship
byTeam Sarah4Choice

Bibi Netanyahu told Vanity Fair:

“I remember him (Romney) for sure, but I don’t think we had any particular connections, I knew him and he knew me, I suppose.”
~Bibi Netanyahu, July 2012 in Vanity Fair Interview

But, to hear the pathological liar, Mitt Romney, tell it the two were as thick as thieves (no pun intended) while they both worked at Bain Consulting Group in the 1970s (not to be confused with Bain Capital.)
Romney to the New York Times:

ROMNEY: "We (Mitt & Netanyahu) can almost speak in shorthand. We share common experiences and have a perspective and underpinning which is similar."

Bloomberg Businessweek http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-07-26/karl-rove-hes-back-big-time has a must-read cover story on Karl Rove "and how he is holding the reins of the GOP's destiny and redefining the business of political finance."

The piece looks at the creation of his Crossroads political action committees, their top contributors, how they raised $71 million in their rookie election cycle (and tallied a 16-14 record in the 30 2010 senate races they joined), how they are now poised to spend double the amount of the Democrats in the 2012 presidential election, and their focus on getting independents to vote for Mitt Romney.

Where this all ends --- It ends, says economist Jeff Faux, in "the servant economy."

Where this all ends

It ends, says economist Jeff Faux, in "the servant economy."

I'm talking about a future for the working American and the working American family. It seems to me that much of the debate about what's going to happen to America is about America's place in the world. Washington is full of discussions about, is the U.S. down? Is China up? And then we look at the economy from a perspective of somewhat abstraction but the question that I ask in the book is not what's going to happen to America in the world, but what's going to happen to Americans, given the evidence that's all around us.

And by The Servant Economy, I'm talking about a future, another 10 or 15 years towards which we are headed, in which we will see class divisions much deeper than we have today. We will see disappointed young people who are over-educated for the jobs that they're being offered.

We're going to see a low-wage, increasingly low-wage economy, pensions gone, people having to work until they drop and I think that's where we're headed. It sounds like a dystopian nightmare, but if you look at the economic evidence, it's seems to be that's clear.

For example, we know that even before the great crash of 2008, American wages, hourly wages had been flat for 30 years, real wages, that is if you adjust for inflation, flat for 30 years. Now that doesn't mean no one ever got a raise, but it means that someone in 2007, just before the crash, who had two years of college education and a certain amount of experience was getting no more than that person in 1979.

Daily Telegraph- Mitt:"utterly devoid of charm and mildly offensive."

“Mitt Romney is perhaps the only politician who could start a trip that was supposed to be a charm offensive by being utterly devoid of charm and mildly offensive.

His derisory comments questioning Britain’s preparedness for the Olympics in an interview with NBC were a strange way to build bridges with a country that he says should be restored as the umbilical ally of the United States, and a strange way to demonstrate the persuasive qualities needed as leader of the free world.”
