None of it happened. Interest rates stayed very low, as did inflation. But the G.O.P. never acknowledged, after six full years of being wrong about everything, that the bad things it predicted failed to take place, or showed any willingness to rethink the doctrines that led to those bad predictions. The most hilarious revelation about the Ashley Madison hack yet
Gizmodo took a look at female profiles on the site and discovered that most of them were never used at all after they were created. In fact, the site estimates that roughly 12,000 of the 5.5 million registered female accounts are actually used by women on a regular basis. Gizmodo used a lot of smart detective work to come up with this estimate, including looking at IP addresses that created a suspiciously large number of women’s profiles.
But here’s the really amazing thing: When Gizmodo went to see how many Ashley Madison users checked messages they’d received from other users, the website found a hilarious disparity that showed the ratio of men checking messages to women checking messages was 13,585 : 1. Seriously.
“Overall, the picture is grim indeed. Out of 5.5 million female accounts, roughly zero percent had ever shown any kind of activity at all, after the day they were created,” Gizmodo writes. “The men’s accounts tell a story of lively engagement with the site, with over 20 million men hopefully looking at their inboxes, and over 10 million of them initiating chats. The women’s accounts show so little activity that they might as well not be there.”

George W. Bush Returns To New Orleans For Hurricane Katrina Anniversary
Former President George W. Bush will return to New Orleans on Friday to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the storm that devestated the city.
Bush will give remarks at Warren Easton Charter High School, where he also spoke on the first anniversary of the storm, The Associated Press reported.
Bush has pushed back on criticisms that the federal government's response to the storm was inadequate.

The most damning part of Donald Trump’s political rise
Remember when the 2016 field of Republican presidential candidates was supposed to be so deep and talented? Then why is a reality TV clown beating all of them?

It’s late August, so obviously things will likely change by the time Iowa starts to caucus. But remember, the whole point of this deep GOP bench was supposed to be that it would thwart the absurdity of the 2012 cycle, when Herman Cain and Michele Bachmann were front-runners for a time. And yet in this cycle, it’s gotten to the point where William Kristol has morphed from praising the current crop of “strong candidates” to fretting that “the rest of the field isn’t what it should be” and encouraging Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito to enter the race.
So here’s my question: What does it say about the deep GOP bench that none of them have managed to outperform a guy who has no comparative political advantage except celebrity and a willingness to insult anyone who crosses his path?

Woman strips to show fresh mastectomy scars as Virginia official calls to defund Planned Parenthood
One Roanoke County resident, Leigh Anne Woods, took off her shirt in front of Bedrosian to reveal scars from her double mastectomy, which she had weeks earlier due to breast cancer. Woods claimed she had learned breast health from Planned Parenthood and might not have discovered the cancer otherwise.

A woman who was identified as Leigh Anne Woods by WDBJ walked up the podium and took her shirt off as Bedrosian was speaking.
“You have a problem because they perform abortions, look at everything else they do, they save lives!” Woods said.
“It’s more than birth control,” she insisted. “It’s more than abortion. They save lives.”
Woods told WDBJ that she wanted to show the county supervisor the scars from the mastectomy she had just weeks earlier, and she credited Planned Parenthood for saving her life.
