Mitt Visits LA To Play Moses (?): "Did the water come from the sky, or the rivers, or the ocean?"

"I'm here to learn and obviously to draw some attention to what's going on here," Romney told the governor. "So that people around the country know that people down here need help."

Jindal talked about the contributions of the Red Cross, Salvation Army and other organizations. Romney inquired how many people had been evacuated and asked, "Did the water come from the sky, or the rivers, or the ocean?"

Disappointed Obama supporter to Mitt: 'Obama at his worst is still preferable to you at your best.'

A disappointed Obama supporter to Romney:
by wdrath

........................

There are no circumstances under which this particular citizen could ever vote for you, Mr. Romney. You see, while there is some disappointment on my part about what President Obama and his administration have been able to achieve, to a large extent it's because he's been deliberately hampered in what he could do by the blatantly partisan and racist obstructionism by you and your co-conspirators in your party over the past four years.

There may be some disappointment in the actions of President Obama and his administration, as well. However, for this particular voter who may be a bit less enthused about voting for President Obama this time, President Obama at his worst is still preferable to you at your best.

Nice try attempting to erase the board and create the illusion that you are somehow a viable alternative to president Obama just because circumstances have made some of us somewhat less enthusiastic toward the political process, and toward President Obama in the process. Unfortunately for you, the slate that you're attempting to wipe clean is still too cloudy with all of the filthy vestiges of your blatantly dishonest, hypocritical campaign.

Sincerely,
A voter who will not allow you and your party to scam me into voting for you and your atrociously horrid policies and filth politics.

BIDEN Uses TAIBBI To Gut Mitt: 'Romney Willing To Go To Extremes To Secure FEDERAL Bailout For Bain'

“Combined, the auto companies have committed to invest billions in expansion," Biden said. But, hitting at Romney's former firm, it's "What they didn't tell you -- it's not the Bain way -- not in Mexico, not in China, not in Vietnam, but in Lordstown, Detroit, Toledo, Cleveland. Made in America."

.........................

While Biden spent much of his speech hitting Ryan, he also attacked the Republican presidential candidate head on, citing a Rolling Stone report from earlier this week that said "Romney was willing to go to extremes to secure a federal bailout" for Bain and Company (the consulting firm) which ultimately totaled $10 million.

“You know, he is absolutely against the federal government or any government using funds to save jobs, to save industries," Biden said, before accusing Romney of hypocrisy. "He says it’s bad for business except when it comes to his business.... It was one thing when a million middle class jobs were on the line. It was another when his own financial interests and those of his partners were on the line."

MICHAEL MOORE re: RNC "We Are Delusional and Detached from Reality. Vote for Us!"

Speaking to Invisible Obama last night, in a performance that seemed to have been written by Timothy Leary and performed by Cheech & Chong, Clint Eastwood was able to drive home to tens of millions of viewers the central message of this year's Republican National Convention: "We Are Delusional and Detached from Reality. Vote for Us!"

The footage of Eastwood rambling and mumbling to his "Harvey" - President Obama - will be played to audiences a hundred years from now as the Most Bizarre Convention Moment Ever.

The people of the future will know nothing about Dirty Harry or Josey Wales or a Million Dollar Baby. They WILL know about the night a crazy old man hijacked a national party's most important gathering so he could tell the President to literally go do something to himself (i.e. f*ck himself). ... Eastwood completely upended and redefined how he'll be remembered by younger and future generations.

The Elephants are Still Thirsty

In my earlier post on Carrying Water for Elephants I explained how the $716 billion in planned reductions to Medicare was calculated, who it impacted, and from where it originated.
http://www.angrybearblog.com/2012/08/medicare-cuts-what-is-fight-about.html

The $716 billion is far larger than the initial $449 billion first reported. In 2010, the CBO arrived at an estimate of savings of ~$449 billion starting from 2012 onwards and covered 6- 7 years from when the bill takes full effect in 2014 to 2019. The second estimate of savings was the result of John Boehner's request for a review of the costs and gains realized from the repeal the ACA in its entirety. The second review covered the period from 2014 to 2022 and resulted in the $716 billion. "Medicare Cuts: What is the Fight About?" Brookings Institute http://www.brookings.edu/blogs/up-front/posts/2012/08/15-medicare-cuts-galston

Above the explanation of how the $716 billion calculated; I presented Ezra Klein's pie chart explaining where the reductions were made. Not one of the reductions comes from reductions in Medicare benefits to recipients which as I also explained is denied the PPACA. In last night's Republican Convention Paul Ryan again claimed the reductions to providers are actually cuts in benefits to Medicare recipients and the reductions are being used to fund the PPACA. Neither statement is true; but then, Paul Ryan is a Republican VP candidate who hopes to confuse the voters with supposition and conjecture. Paul should be made to explain what he will do with the reductions achieved from similar reductions he has proposed for Medicare . . . maybe more tax breaks for the 1 percenters???

There is no amount of water Paul Ryan or Mitt Romney can carry to quench the thirst of this elephant of misrepresentation.

RNC Convention Workers Being Paid Below Minimum Wage

RNC Convention Workers Being Paid Below Minimum Wage

TAMPA, Fla. -- During these past four days at the RNC convention, janitors have worked around the clock picking up after delegates, conservative stars like Ann Coulter and Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), and the thousands of reporters in cavernous filing rooms. And many are doing so making less than minimum wage.

Carolyn Walker said she has been cleaning the convention center for 13 years. She had been making $8 per hour until a few years ago, when the cleaning contract went to another company, Cleanevent USA. The new company meant a new, downsized paycheck. She's now making minimum wage -- $7.67 per hour. But that wasn't the only hit to her wallet.

Walker said the company charges her $6 per week for uniforms. "It stinks to tell you the truth," she said. "We work very hard." It effectively means she's making less than Florida's minimum wage.

Larry Gilmore, 32, and Jean Baptiste, 27, recounted similar hits to their paychecks by Cleanevent. Baptiste said he's charged $11 per week for uniforms -- a thin blue short-sleeve shirt and dark pants.
