"When the President said they found a lot of ballots in the river: Where is the river?"

Press Secretary - doesn't answer.

Also, the Pennsylvania incident did not involve a "ditch" or fraud. The have so few "examples" to point to, and she can't even get the facts right on those. She is practically trembling up there.

Did Biden say Inshallah?

That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you throw shade.

Wajahat Ali said so.

Inshallah is the Arabic version of “fuggedaboudit.” It’s similar to how the British use the word “brilliant” to both praise and passive-aggressively deride everything and everyone. It transports both the speaker and the listener to a fantastical place where promises, dreams and realistic goals are replaced by delusional hope and earnest yearning.

“Millions of dollars, and you’ll get to see it,” Trump said of the amount he claims to have paid.

“When?” the Democratic presidential nominee interjected. “Inshallah?”
Suddenly, many Arab American viewers (and plenty of others) were collectively doing a double-take on the Internet. Did Biden — yes, the 77-year-old, gaffe-prone, Roman Catholic native of Scranton, Pa. — really just use “inshallah,” arguably the most ubiquitous phrase in Arabic?

Hours later, his campaign confirmed to NPR that it was true: Biden had in fact used the phrase — which literally and seriously means “God willing” in Arabic and Farsi — but can also take on a sharp, sardonic tenor that has led the writer Wajahat Ali to call it the “Arabic version of ‘fuggedaboudit.’

Trump is a bad person & if you watched that debate & still intend to vote for him, you are too.

There was one unmistakable takeaway from Tuesday night’s first presidential debate: Donald Trump is a bad person, and if you watched that debate and still intend to vote for him, you are too.

These are harsh words but what the president subjected the country to on Tuesday went far beyond politics. It spoke to Trump’s fundamental absence of character, decency, and morality — but also of those who refuse to recognize and condemn his abhorrent behavior.

It’s bad enough that for almost the entire 90 minutes of the debate, Trump interrupted, spoke over, and tried to bully Democratic opponent Joe Biden, disrespecting both the process of a presidential debate but also the millions of Americans who tuned in to learn more about the two candidates. It’s beyond obscene that with more than 205,000 Americans dead from COVID-19, Trump took a victory lap bragging about his self-proclaimed phenomenal response to the pandemic. It’s maddening that he continues to tell lie after lie about mail-in voting and still won’t commit to a peaceful transition of power. It’s incomprehensible that when asked to condemn white supremacists — perhaps the easiest slam dunk question any politician can ever receive — the president refused to do so. In fact, he appeared to encourage them to be on alert by calling on them to “stand back and stand by.”

Fargo Police: Moose on the loose

Please DO NOT approach the moose. DO NOT seek the moose out in your vehicle. We do not want the moose pushed into traffic or agitated in a residential neighborhood as this could endanger lives. Let him make his way back out of town peacefully.

Governor Mike Parson tweeted this photo of himself meeting with staff at Missouri Veterans Home, which is now dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak.

UPDATE 5:15 p.m.: We've updated this story to include a response from Governor Parson's spokeswoman below.

A veterans home visited two weeks ago by Missouri Governor Mike Parson is dealing with a major COVID-19 outbreak, according to a news report.

The Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon has had 31 of its 150 residents test positive for the virus, ABC affiliate KODE-TV reported.

Parson visited the home on September 15, meeting with staff. The next day, he mentioned the visit during a news briefing.

"We've also had the chance to visit some of our Missouri veterans homes," Parson said at the September 16 briefing in Jefferson City. "Our veterans' homes staff have done a great job taking care of our veterans during these times. Teresa and I were glad to visit with them and to thank them."

Our Missouri Veterans Homes have been working hard to keep our nation's heroes safe and healthy through the COVID-19 pandemic.

News broke six days ago that Governor Parson and his wife Teresa Parson had tested positive for the virus and were going to begin isolating. Teresa Parson was experiencing mild symptoms before the tests.

Governor Parson’s Twitter account posted pictures of the visit on the day of his trip to Mount Vernon, and there are photos documenting a visit just a few days prior to another veterans’ home in Cameron, Missouri, posted by Teresa Parson’s Twitter page, too.

It's not clear where the governor and his wife contracted the virus. (We've reached out to Parson's spokesperson and will update if we hear back.) They have regularly attended in-person events during the pandemic, including one where the governor didn’t wear a mask while posing for photos with elderly veterans and another where he didn’t wear a mask while meeting with Missouri ranchers.

When Trump defends armed rightwing gangs, his rhetoric has echoes of Hitler/fascism

When Trump defends armed rightwing gangs, his rhetoric has echoes of fascism
David Renton
Signalling to his base, as he did referring to the Proud Boys on Tuesday, the president is following a playbook from 1930s Germany

.............the summer of 1931 saw Hitler being summonsed to court and accused of being complicit in the work of gangs who had beaten – and killed – their anti-fascist enemies.

Hitler’s response was to play a double game.First of all, he was worried about looking weak in front of his supporters, who had called him a coward and a conformist. So he needed to signal that the gangs still had his support. Second, he tried to pretend that any harm caused by his supporters was necessary since the country faced a much more threatening enemy: the far left.

“The SA men are the first men in the party,” he told his opponent, the private prosecutor Hans Litten. Then, in answer to Kurt Ohnesorge, the judge who moderated the hearing, Hitler said that the “red murderers” of the left were the real problem: “If an SA man really oversteps the boundary of self-defence, you can’t hold a man responsible for that.”

Compare this to Donald Trump signalling to his base. During Tuesday’s presidential debate, he was asked: “Are you willing tonight to condemn white supremacist and militia groups and to say that they need to stand down and not add to the violence?”

He answered, “I would say almost everything I see is from the left wing, not from the right wing.” He continued: “Proud Boys, stand back and stand by.” Then came the justification: “But I’ll tell you what, somebody’s got to do something about antifa and the left. Because this is not a rightwing problem, this is a leftwing problem.”
