Amid the release of the January 6 Committee transcripts, I’ve been vacating a bit. But I wanted to do a post on what I have been reading.
Let’s start with the fact that at 12:19PM on January 6, Ali Alexander texted Caroline Wren with a request that she update him every five minutes on POTUS’ plan to walk to the Capitol.

At 12:19 p.m. you ask Ms. Wren — so I’m assuming this is after you’ve left The Ellipse — if POTUS is walking and for her to give you an update every 5 minutes. So at 12:19 pm. on January 6th, was it your understanding that President Trump was going to come to the Capitol?

New details from the Jan 6. Committee investigation emerged on MSNBC on Friday that revealed just how Donald Trump felt about his supporters storming the U.S. Capitol after he lost the election.
According to the interview transcripts, Trump was actually pleased and “loved” every moment of it.
The insight was provided by former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham during her interview with the Jan. 6 Committee, in which she placed herself in critical conversations in the West Wing of the White House throughout the insurrection.
In the released transcript of the interview, Grisham said, “Some of his comments were that these people looked very trashy, but also look at what fighters they were…he did feel they looked trashy, but he loved how they were fighting him.”

Ginni Thomas Confirmed She Was Talking To Justice Clarence Thomas While Trying To Overturn Election
From page 84 of her 1/6 Committee interview transcript:
Q: And then you responded just a few minutes later, “Thank you. Needed that, this plus a conversation with my best friend just now. I will try to keep holding on.” And you sent that message at a litle before 11 p.m. on the 24th. Do you recall who you were referring to when you said you had just had a conversation with your best friend?
A: It looks like it was my husband.
Q: Do you remember what you talked to Justice Thomas about that made you feel better and allowed you to say “keep holding on”?
A: I wish could remember, but I have no memory of the specifics. My husband often administers spousal support to the wife that’s upset. So | assume that that’s what it was. | don’t have a specific memory of it.
Q: What makes you think now, as you read it, that you’re referring to your husband when you say “my best friend”?
A: Because that’s what | call him, and he is my best friend.
Ginni Thomas was texting with Mark Meadows about overturning the election, while she also just happened to be talking to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas who was administering “spousal support.”

“I walk outside in the immediate area and there are a lot of older people that are stranded in their cars,” Withey said. “One person had a dog, and I get them all into the school. At this point, I have about 10 people in the school.” He estimated their ages ranged between 20s and 70s.
With the group settled in the school, Withey scavenged for cereal and apples in the cafeteria, managed to turn off the alarm, and found mats in the gym for everyone to sleep on.
“Everyone is just so happy to be in the school and to be warm and have food,” he said.
On Christmas morning, Withey and the others were able to use snow blowers from the janitor’s closet to free their cars from the mounds of snow.

Griffin named several top Republican professionals as deliberately promoting falsehoods, particularly Kayleigh McEnany, who was serving as the White House Press Secretary at the time but subsequently landed a job as a co-host of “Outnumbered,” a daily political discussion show on Fox.
“Kayleigh is a liar and an opportunist,” Griffin told the committee. “She’s a smart woman. She’s a Harvard law grad. This is not an idiot. She knew we lost the election, but she made a calculation that she wanted to have a certain life post-Trump that required staying in his good graces. And that was more important to her than telling the truth to the American public.”
According to Griffin, McEnany decided that even though she knew Trump had lost, supporting his deception campaign to illegally remain in office would be good for her career:
“I think she saw that as a moment to kind of, like, if I do this one last public-facing stand for Trump, I’m going to be set. This is going to work out for me. And, I mean, it did. She got her FOX News gig. She — it worked out precisely how she’d always planned for it to, but she knew better.”
