While looking for medicine from Canada for a $500 drug in the US I came across this

It is important because the cost of drugs in this country is so ridiculous. The drug companies are scamming us right in our faces and in front of the world. This website is working to stop negative bills and support positive ones for buying prescription from Canada and other places. It also will tell you who to call and what to say to this end.
RxRights is a national coalition dedicated to raising awareness and spurring action around safe prescription drug importation. The Coalition seeks to inform and educate both the public and our elected officials on the complex issues surrounding prescription drug sales in the U.S. Read more about the Coalition. This is very important especially for seniors who just get Medicare because they have to spend so much out of pocket for their medication

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Individuals and organizations that support the right to safe and affordable prescription drug importation are encouraged to join the RxRights Coalition. As a member, you will receive relevant updates and action alerts and are encouraged to participate in discussions on our website. Sign up for our updates!

Ask your representatives in Congress tough questions.

Find out their position on the issue of affordable medicine. Here are some suggested questions:

Will you back the Safe and Affordable Drugs from Canada Act (S. 122)? Find out more about this bill introduced by Senators Klobuchar/McCain.
Do you support Senator Vitter’s amendment? This amendment would defund the FDA’s proposed rule to allow for the seizure and destruction of personally imported medicine.
If the answer to the above questions is “no,” ask them: “What are you doing to ensure that your constituents have access to affordable medicine?”
Here’s how you can educate members of Congress:

Let them know that millions of Americans safely utilize drug importation.
Illustrate the need for access to affordable medicine.
Use our infographic and your personal story to illustrate the severity of the problem.

Does anyone else feel like our President being treated so badly is related to white cops

killing unarmed black men and college students singing horrible songs about black people and all the other racism that goes on in this country.

If these senators believe our president is their inferior then of course they would try and undermine him at every turn. They must feel intense hate for this man. They believe their inferior has power over them and they can't stand that. So they do everything they can to usurp his power including trying to start a war by themselves.

I believe that they would cripple the US just to assuage their pathological racism. Remember that so many of them would still hold slaves if it were legal and they probably come from ancestral lines that were slave holders.

It makes me sick to think that so many people are like this. And so many of them are in our government.

It is like when a woman shows strength when in a relationship with an abusive man his sense of self crumbles. He must subjugate her, to reduce her and enslave her more. The truth is he is the one with the broken self esteem. He can only feel OK about himself when he is conquering what he thinks is his inferior. And then very often they try to make her feel crazy by telling her that what she knows is not reality. I even heard one man say to his wife after he hit her, "I didn't hit you. I didn't hit you"

These senators hit our president over and over and say they aren't doing it. They come up with inadequate reasons that they hide behind and maybe even believe themselves and they can get their followers to believe it also.

They are sick in the head.

EDIT to add: Jimmy Carter said he thought the problem was racism in government and citizens. He said a lot of people accept black people as long as they are in a lesser position. I'm reminded of those that say, "Uppity black"

I cannot believe what this pest eliminator just did!

I had the air conditioner ducts cleaned last week and the guy told me that he thought there were rats in my attic. First I called the people who spray for fleas around my house and he said that they were there also and gave me a quote of $650 to get them out.

So I went on Angie's List and got a coupon for $175 for an inspection and filling up 5 holes, (around plumbing etc. where they are supposed to get in). I was thinking about trapping them humanely by myself.

So that guy shows up today and tells me that there are no rats and I am very happy about that. And then he pulls out an estimate for PREVENTION that totals over $800 and he takes the $175 off so it is down to $625.

I could not believe my eyes. So I started asking him about these "holes" he was going to close up to prevent things from getting into my house.

One was the little smoke stack thingy that is supposed to create the vacuum to make your toilet flush. He said he saw chew marks and they could get in that way. I thought about it and this house was built in 1985 and wouldn't they have gotten in by now if they were going too? So I x'd that out.

Then, because the $175 I paid was supposed to cover filling in 5 holes at ground level I figured out that the cost for those holes would be $35 each because he said the inspection was free. But in his quote to me he was charging $45 for those holes.

Anyway I am ending up paying just the $175 I have already paid when I thought I would need help with actual rats.

I can't believe how people try and rip you off! I've heard about this with AC people but never had the chance with these types. And it upsets me thinking about all the people, who this is a real hardship for, that do not know better and just accept what people tell them.

Can the president use executive powers to make the all police wear cameras? Breaking news about

the situation in Ferguson by Attorney General Holder is fucking unbelievable! It proves a systematic attack on the black residents of Ferguson and much of it is done to make money.

The written articles will come out. I just saw this on Chris Hayes

But if there is any time to force the damn police to be followed then it is now

=========== One woman got 2 driving tickets for a price of $150. Now 2 years later she owes over $500 and she has been jailed for a total of 6 days. Eric Holder didn't even know why she owed all this extra money.

I'm adding this article for the people who have not seen the studies of police cameras.

New Publication Available: The Effect of Body-Worn Cameras on Police Use-of-Force

Police Foundation Executive Fellow, Chief Tony Farrar, recently completed an extensive yearlong study to evaluate the effect of body-worn video cameras on police use-of-force. This randomized controlled trail represents the first experimental evaluation of body-worn video cameras used in police patrol practices. Cameras were deployed to all patrol officers in the Rialto (CA) Police Department. Every police patrol shift during the 12-month period was assigned to experimental or control conditions.

Wearing cameras was associated with dramatic reductions in use-of-force and complaints against officers. The authors conclude:

"The findings suggest more than a 50% reduction in the total number of incidents of use-of-force compared to control-conditions, and nearly ten times more citizens’ complaints in the 12-months prior to the experiment."

Scan reveals 1,000 year old mummy in golden statue of Buddha

http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/27/asia/mummified-monk-statue/index.html

A golden statue of a sitting Buddha, smuggled from a temple in China to a market in the Netherlands, revealed an extraordinary secret -- a 1,000-year-old mummified monk.

Researchers discovered the mummy, encased in a cavity in the statue when a private buyer brought it to the Drents Museum in the Netherlands for restoration.

================================================

The mummy was found sitting on a bundle of cloth covered in Chinese inscriptions, revealing its identity as a Buddhist monk called Liuquan who may have practiced "self-mummification" to prepare for life after death.

(Part of the process for "self-mummification" is to drink and eat poisonous things that will stop bugs from eating the body after it is dead. Apparently it didn't work for a lot of people)

I don't know if this has been posted. Why the right hates history and the Oklahoma bill

that proves how serious they are.

I've posted 2 links. One one the general position of conservatives wanting people to stay stupid AS REGARDS HISTORY and the first one about an actual bill in Oklahoma that is actively trying to do that.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/20/opinion/sutter-oklahoma-ap-history/

By John D. Sutter

"An education committee in my home state -- a place with plenty of historical blemishes and oodles of modern-day screw-ups -- actually approved a bill that would rewrite advanced placement U.S. History classes, potentially eliminating them. The cause? They paint America in too negative a light."

Here are the words of Dan Fisher, republican state senate:

"In essence, we have a new emphasis on what is bad about America," Fisher said in a committee hearing, according to a CNN report. "The new framework (that has been in effect in the 2014-15 school year) trades an emphasis on America's founding principles of constitutional government in favor of robust analyses of gender and racial oppression and class ethnicity and the lives of marginalized people, where the emphasis on instruction is of America as a nation of oppressors and exploiters."

Fisher's bill, as it was proposed, bars state money from going to AP U.S. history courses, according to CNN. It also requires the replacement class to cover a number of "founding documents of the United States that contributed to the foundation or maintenance of the representative form of limited government, the free-market economic system and American exceptionalism."

Oh, and speeches by Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush.

WHY THE RIGHT HATES HISTORY

Sure, the war on education helps Republican lawmakers destroy unions and slash government spending, but it’s our history of progressive change that makes Conservatives hate accurate depictions of our past.

Just think about Social Security, The New Deal, freeing the slaves, or child labor laws… all represent great turning points in our nation that progressives made possible. The fact is, our entire history – from our revolution to healthcare reform – is filled with progressive accomplishments, and it’s hard to sell the Conservative brand to people who know that history.

Many of the today’s biggest political issues, like our privacy rights, would not even be up for debate today had it not been for the attack on education. If more Americans had had a strong understanding of our history, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney would have never been able to pull off the Patriot Act. And, we wouldn’t be discussing the Orwellian government spy agencies like the NSA in this day and age.
