Dell now accepts bitcoin in the United States for online purchases of its products. The move is a win for CoinBase, which today on its blog announced that it was the integration partner for the personal computing company.
Overstock.com and online technology marketplace TigerDirect also accept the cryptocurrency.
The price of bitcoin, long a driver of media and public interest in the stuff, has been quieter lately, leading to less commotion regarding the currency. (In fact, there is strong correlation between media interest and the price of bitcoin.)
To spur interest, Dell will sell its gaming-focused Alienware products for a period of time at a 10 percent discount, provided that users make their purchases in bitcoin.

Of course, the father beating up the accused rapist is not directly analogous to this, but I thought of this law.
O.C.G.A. § 16-5-25 (2014): "...any opprobrious or abusive language used by the person..."

I got to thinking of this Georgia law, that I learned about in 1981. Here's the citation:
§ 16-5-25. Opprobrious or abusive language as justification for simple assault or simple battery
A person charged with the offense of simple assault or simple battery may introduce in evidence any opprobrious or abusive language used by the person against whom force was threatened or used; and the trier of facts may, in its discretion, find that the words used were justification for simple assault or simple battery.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A Daytona Beach father beat an 18-year-old man unconscious after finding him sexually abusing his 11-year-old son early Friday morning, police said.
The father called 911 around 1 a.m. after he walked in on the alleged abuse, police said. When officers arrived, they found Raymond Frolander motionless on the living room floor. He had several knots on his face and was bleeding from the mouth.
"He is nice and knocked out on the floor for you," the father told the 911 dispatcher. "I drug him out to the living room."

MARION, Iowa — A crowd of Iowans at a cafe here swooned over Chris Christie on his debut Iowa trip of the season today, saying his force-of-nature personality would be the perfect fit for the Oval Office.
The New Jersey governor was surrounded by a thick pack of Iowans and national and local reporters from the moment he arrived at M.J.'s Restaurant in Marion at about 3:20 p.m. CT for a casual meet-and-greet in the state that kicks off presidential voting.
The spotlight-attracting Christie, who is considered a potential 2016 presidential candidate, shook hands with just about everyone in the room, from waitresses to a baby girl whose mother was bonked by a cameraman's equipment as reporters jostled for the best video footage.
As Christie made his way through the crowd, one man asked him if he backs the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing Hobby Lobby to restrict its offering of contraception insurance coverage.
Time to use this against him, the idiot !

FBI, NTSB Investigators Headed to Site of Downed Malaysia Airlines Plane

The pro-Russian separatists who control the area where a Malaysia Airlines flight was brought down agreed today to allow investigators safe access to the site to recover bodies and gather evidence, according to a statement from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
It was unclear how soon investigators would begin sifting through the charred wreckage of the airliner, which was carrying 298 people when it went down Thursday in Ukraine near the Russian border. The plane had left Amsterdam at 12:15 p.m. (local time) and was estimated to arrive in Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Friday at 6:10 a.m. (local time), according to Malaysia Airlines.
FBI and NTSB officials will head to Ukraine in an "advisory role" in the investigation, a senior administration official told ABC News.
John Wendle, a freelance reporter for ABC News, described seeing "bodies scattered everywhere" at the crash site.

This is in LBN also. To me, it's obvious from the story that the criminals had no regard for human life. The NRA says "arm more good guys with guns to stop the bad guys with guns". I admit, I'm no law enforcement or gun expert, but my thinking is, IF everyone in that bank was armed, the criminals would have simply entered immediately shooting everyone dead and then robbing it with explosives etc.
Your thoughts ? Obviously I back gun control efforts.

TALLAHASSEE — In an effort to push Gov. Rick Scott into the debate on climate change, 10 prominent Florida scientists on Tuesday asked for an opportunity to explain to him the impact human-induced global warming will have on Florida.
"We note you have been asked several times about how, as governor, you will handle the issue of climate change," the scientists wrote in a two-page letter to Scott. "You responded that you are 'not a scientist.' We are scientists and we would like the opportunity to explain what is at stake for our state."
Scott initially denied the impact of human-induced global warming when he first ran for office in 2010, saying he has "not been convinced that there's any man-made climate change." He has since been reluctant to engage on the issue, answering only, "I'm not a scientist," when asked about it.
The scientists, professors at the University of Miami, Florida State, Florida International and Eckerd College, believe they can explain simply why they believe the governor should care.
I'm sad to say, he will probably ignore this or issue some BS statement.

UK police have arrested 660 alleged pedophiles following a six-month investigation. The suspects include doctors, teachers, scout leaders, care workers and former police officers.
The UK’s National Crime Agency said Wednesday that the operation occurred across the UK and involved 45 separate police forces. The agency estimated that over 400 children have been protected as a result.
The operation, which was kept secret until the arrests were made, involved targeting those accessing pedophilic images online. A total of 39 of those arrested were registered sex offenders though the vast majority was unknown to the police. Those who have been charged are accused of a range of crimes, from possessing indecent images of children to serious sexual abuse.
“This is the first time the UK has had the capability to coordinate a single targeted operation of this nature. Over the past six months we have seen unprecedented levels of cooperation to deliver this result,” said the agency’s deputy director general, Phil Gormley.
