#TrumpGolfsAmericansDie #TrumpGolfsYouDie : new ad by MeidasTouch

It’s not the golfing that is so disturbing. It’s the hypocrisy. It’s the fact that in the middle of a crisis, he spends his weekends on the golf course as thousands of Americans cling onto their last breath.

The Lincoln Project assessment of the 2020 races, worth a look

https://lincolnproject.us/news/state-of-the-race/

As of this week, The Lincoln Project believes that:

● Michigan is now all but lost to Trump. This puts a severe dent in his Upper Midwest strategy;

● Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are leaning heavily toward Biden as independents and soft Republicans move away from the president;

● Arizona is increasingly likely to go to Biden in November as a large Latino population makes its voice heard. The Democrats also have a very strong US Senate candidate in Mark Kelly, who may convince voters to cross the line;

● North Carolina is critical to this November’s outcome. 2016’s margin of 150,000 votes will likely be even narrower this fall;

● Republican stalwarts like Ohio and Florida will require far more time, money, and attention from Trump and his campaign if they want to ensure victory in November.

Senate races and more at link above.

I know many here dislike them, but 1) they are helping us get rid of Trump and his enablers, and 2) they might be correct with this report. Of course, come Biden's inauguration, they will revert to being conservatives/Republicans(?) in opposition once again.

I'll take their help for now, and we can fight them in January 2021. Just my $0.02.

Labour demands Boris Johnson answers questions on Liz Truss' 'extraordinary' leaked Brexit letter

https://www.businessinsider.com/liz-truss-leaked-brexit-letter-labour-demands-boris-johnson-explain-2020-7

The Labour Party has demanded that Boris Johnson's government appears before Parliament to explain an "extraordinary" leaked letter from UK Trade Secretary Liz Truss, which revealed its fears of chaos at Britain's borders once the UK leaves European Union rules next year.

Business Insider on Wednesday exclusively obtained a copy of the letter sent by Liz Truss to Rishi Sunak, the chancellor of the exchequer, and Michael Gove, the chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, expressing "four key areas of concern" about the government's Brexit border plans.

In the leaked letter, which Business Insider is today publishing below in full, Truss raised fears that new border arrangements with the EU, its biggest trading partner when UK leaves the Brexit transition period in January 2021, will not be ready in time.

She set out her concern that UK ports will not be ready to carry out full import checks when they come into effect in July next year and warned that some ports could be vulnerable to smuggling as of January.

Florida reports 15,300 new COVID-19 cases -- a record for one day anywhere in the U.S.

https://www.miamiherald.com/news/coronavirus/article244173462.html

Sunday, Florida reported the most new COVID-19 cases any state has in a single day, 15,300.

Sunday’s Florida Department of Health update blew past the previous high, 12,274 by New York on April 4, by 3,026 or 24.6%. It zoomed past Florida’s previous high, 11,458 on the July 4 report, by 33.5% or just over one-third.

With this massive leap, Florida has had 269,811 cases since the start of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Florida’s last week: 69,700 cases and an overall pandemic positive test rate that has risen from 9.1% to 10.5%.

The state’s average daily positive test rate of the last seven days was 14.2%. It was 14.5% the week before, and 9.9% the week before that.

Need a little prosecutor help here: Could Barr announce bogus prosecutions of Biden before Nov. 3 ?

Before you start typing, I'm not trying to do any nefarious thing here. I gave the legal limit to Biden
a few days ago (no way to prove this without giving out my personal info) and I've been a loyal Democrat since 1976.

Question: Could Barr make up some crap and file prosecutions against Biden, his family, his campaign and his friends before the election ? An October surprise. Is this just too farfetched ?

I do not know how federal prosecutions and DOJ work, hence the innocent and ignorant question.
Thank you for our patience.

Dozens of Florida hospitals max out of ICU capacity amid surge in COVID-19 cases

https://thehill.com/homenews/coronavirus-report/506881-dozens-of-florida-hospitals-max-out-of-icu-capacity-amid-surge-in

Dozens of hospitals in Florida are at their ICU capacity as the state struggles to contain its massive spike of COVID-19 cases.

According to new data released by the state's Agency for Health Care Administration, almost 85 percent of the state's ICU beds are occupied, with just 933 ICU available beds remaining across the state.

WFLA reported that 435 were hospitalized overnight Friday, a new record. At least 52 hospitals in the state have no ICU capacity left at all.

During a Friday press conference, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) tried to assuage fears over the mounting hospitalizations.

DeSantis cannot polish this turd, as much as he might try.

The "Big Lie" propaganda technique

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_lie

A big lie (German: große Lüge) is a propaganda technique. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, about the use of a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously". Hitler believed the technique was used by Jews to blame Germany's loss in World War I on German general Erich Ludendorff, who was a prominent nationalist and antisemitic political leader in the Weimar Republic.

Hitler's use of the expression

The source of the big lie technique is this passage, taken from Chapter 10 of James Murphy's translation of Mein Kampf (the quote is one paragraph in Murphy's translation and in the German original):

But it remained for the Jews, with their unqualified capacity for falsehood, and their fighting comrades, the Marxists, to impute responsibility for the downfall precisely to the man who alone had shown a superhuman will and energy in his effort to prevent the catastrophe which he had foreseen and to save the nation from that hour of complete overthrow and shame. By placing responsibility for the loss of the world war on the shoulders of Ludendorff they took away the weapon of moral right from the only adversary dangerous enough to be likely to succeed in bringing the betrayers of the Fatherland to Justice.

All this was inspired by the principle—which is quite true within itself—that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.

It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.

—?Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, vol. I, ch. X[1]

Goebbels's use of the expression

Though the following supposed quotation of Joseph Goebbels has been repeated in numerous books and articles and on thousands of web pages, none of them has cited a primary source. Thus its attribution to anyone must be considered dubious. According to the research and reasoning of Randall Bytwerk, it is an unlikely thing for Goebbels to have said.[2]

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

It is verified that Goebbels did put forth a theory which has come to be more commonly associated with the expression "big lie". Goebbels wrote the following paragraph in an article dated 12 January 1941, 16 years after Hitler's first use of the phrase. The article, titled Aus Churchills Lügenfabrik (English: "From Churchill's Lie Factory&quot was published in Die Zeit ohne Beispiel.

The essential English leadership secret does not depend on particular intelligence. Rather, it depends on a remarkably stupid thick-headedness. The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.[3]

Holocaust

Jeffrey Herf maintains that Goebbels and the Nazis used the big lie to turn long-standing anti-semitism into mass murder.[4] Herf argues that the big lie was a narrative of an innocent, besieged Germany striking back at an "international Jewry", which it said started World War I. The propaganda repeated over and over the claim that a conspiracy of Jews was the real power in Britain, Russia and the United States. It went on to state that the Jews had begun a "war of extermination" against Germany, and so Germany had a duty and a right to "exterminate" and "annihilate" the Jews in self-defense.[5]

If that technique reminds you of anyone in public office right now, you are not alone.
