The Texas legislature is voting tomorrow on SB 7, a dangerous bill set to restrict voting rights for

Black and brown voters, voters with disabilities, and working Texans.

If SB 7 passes through the Texas legislature, there is no doubt that Governor Abbott will sign it into law – and Texans across our great state will have to face even more barriers to the ballot box. SB 7 would make it a state jail felony for local election officials to distribute an application to vote by mail to a voter who didn’t request one, as well as set up new rules for people assisting voters who need help voting, such as those with disabilities or who don’t speak English.

We are the last defense to stop this rampant act of voter suppression from passing.

Amazing that with people still dying we are worried about Liz Cheney

Would like to see a prime time news conference..How much have the Indian and other variants/mutations infected our country and what are we doing about it?

Update on vaccines/boosters to guard against variants? Which states should be praised for highest vaccine %s? Create competition!! Who is on the bottom? Utah?

How Trump scored a big tax break for conserving a golf range

When Donald Trump bought his seaside golf course in a wealthy Los Angeles suburb in 2002, he vowed to surround it with “some of the most beautiful houses in California.” But the 261-acre property on the Palos Verdes Peninsula had a problem.

Geologists working for the city would not clear part of it for home-building because of unstable soil underlying the course, built on a landslide-prone bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

The denials infuriated Trump, who lobbied and litigated for eight years in a failed effort to reverse the geologists’ findings and secure development approvals, according to interviews with planners and geologists and a Reuters review of public records and court filings.

Trump eventually abandoned a plan to build 16 homes and turned instead to the tax code to offset the lost profits - securing a $25 million tax deduction in exchange for a promise not to develop the land. The agreement with a nonprofit conservancy allowed him to continue using the land as a driving range for the Trump National Golf Course.

Note: trump previously won fight to reduce property taxes on this land tract based on a $1.1m assessment value to a $900k value! And then he took a $25 million charitable break on it.

Did you catch the Bill Maher and Fran Lebowitz interview tonight?

Perfect example of what we encounter every day. She, her brain, could only comprehend the now. He, wanted to talk about the hypothetical world. Neither bad, just different brains.

I'm with Bill Maher on this one. JHC. Where are all the happy uplifting movies?

Many of us are drowning in sorrow. Rented Nomadland and had to walk away. With covid death and all the killings of loved ones and the residual filth that the former guy left us, my compassion meter is at 99%

Covid death of a close family member?

It's been almost a year since we called an ambulance because my dad fell. The hospital sent him to rehab and he died 14 days later from covid contracted from an infected man laying next to him. I am still having intense feelings of hate, grief, and guilt.

Hate of trump for purposely not warning and the state and rehab facility for not protecting him.

Grief of a loved one who did not deserve to die that way. Sorrow for my mom who didn't get to hold her husband's hand in death. They were married 71 years.

Guilt for agreeing to sending him there. I live a thousand miles away and I usually let my sisters who live close by make decisions. But when they told me I looked it up and saw that there were covid cases in nursing homes. I didn't say anything.

I wonder if anyone else is going through the same thing? It's such a toxic combination of emotion that doesn't seem to fit any bereavement advice I have seen.

We are acting like peasants, so thankful for a crumb.. the vaccine!

Yes, thank you drug companies who had been working on virus vaccines for many years, long before there was a fake president. They care about preserving human life and making $.

BUT, let us never forget TRUMP KNEW the fact that the virus was airborne and deadly. ( Woodward tape). Hundreds of thousands unwarned died.

As Earl posted his great calendar, the former guy played golf or held hate rallies for much of this time!

He mocked the mask wearers as sissies. Thus spreading it further. More dead.

He will never be held accountable or responsible.

Except in fate's eye.

Who is Joel Greenberg? (A refresher)

Who is Joel Greenberg? Former tax collector tied to U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz steeped in controversy before criminal charges
MAR 30, 2021 AT 9:19 PM

Former Seminole County Tax Collector Joel Greenberg — who resigned on June 24, the day after he was arrested at his home by federal agents — currently faces 14 federal charges, including allegations that he stalked a political opponent, illegally used a state database to create fake IDs and sex-trafficked a minor.

On Tuesday, it was revealed the probe had further extended to include conservative self-described “firebrand” U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz who, according to the New York Times, is being investigated for an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.

Greenberg, 36, rose to prominence in Central Florida politics in 2016 when he upset Ray Valdes, who was Seminole County’s tax collector for nearly three decades.

Much of his tenure was embroiled in controversy: Months after taking office, he began allowing employees to carry guns, and then in December 2017, while wearing a tax collector badge that looked like a law enforcement shield, he pulled over and confronted a driver for speeding. Officials with the Seminole State Attorney’s Office declined to press charges.
