Lord, we didn't want to be in the news, at least not for this, maybe for serving or some extreme generosity, but not this," he said. "So we ask for your mercy. We ask for your healing for all of those who became sick with this virus and for their families who've have been caring for them as well. We pray for complete recovery so that people don't have any lingering effects, and we pray that you would put a stop to the spread of this virus."

The church issued a statement last week saying that a second wave of infections was afflicting its congregation following the camp, which ended on 27 June.

Texas governor Greg Abbott said that Democratic lawmakers who have left the state can and "will be arrested" upon their return as he pushes ahead with changes in voting laws.
Abbott, a Republican, gave an interview to KVUE on Monday about the Democrats' decision to leave the state and whether the special session of the Texas legislature the governor called can go ahead.
Snip
KVUE asked Abbott if the Democratic walkout meant the voting bills - Senate Bill 1 and House Bill 3 - could not be passed and if he could do anything as governor to compel the lawmakers to return to the state.
Abbott said there "still remains plenty of time to pass not just the bills you mentioned but there's a lot of other bills on there."

A showdown in the Texas House was locked into place Tuesday after the chamber voted overwhelmingly to send law enforcement after Democrats who left the state a day earlier in protest of a GOP priority elections legislation.
More than 50 House Democrats left Monday for Washington, D.C., to deny the chamber a quorum the minimum number of lawmakers needed to conduct business as it takes up voting restrictions and other Republican priorities in a special session.
That agenda, set by Gov. Greg Abbott, includes House Bill 3 and Senate Bill 1, the election legislation at hand that would make a number of changes to Texas' voting system, such as banning drive-thru and 24 hour voting options and further restricting the state's voting-by-mail rules. Over the weekend, both House and Senate committees advanced the election bills.

Anthropology of the pandemic? Anyone spend time at relatives/friends?
Unanticipated consequences of the pandemic and isolation?
Think maybe people, in their own family isolation have zeroed into a routine that fits them to a tee. But not necessarily others?
Try visiting other families for a weekend? It seems so foreign and perhaps so hard to feel good in their routine ??? Effect of Covid?

PHOENIX (AP) Newly released records show the top Republicans in Arizona's largest county dodged calls from Donald Trump and his allies in the aftermath of the 2020 election, as the then-president sought to prevent the certification of Joe Biden's victory in key battleground states.
The records including voicemails and text messages shed light on another state where Trump, his attorneys and others mounted a behind-the-scenes pressure campaign on Republican officials overseeing elections. Days before Congress certified Biden's win on Jan. 6, Trump pressed Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to find enough votes to overturn Biden's win there.
Trump tried to reach Clint Hickman, then the chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, on Jan. 3, shortly before midnight in Washington and hours after news broke of Trump's call with Raffensperger.
Hello, sir. This is the White House operator I was calling to let you know that the presidents available to take your call if youre free, the White House operator said in a voicemail. If you could please give us a call back, sir, thatd be great. You have a good evening.
If you get a chance, would you please give me a call, Giuliani said in a message to Gates. I have a few things Id like to talk over with you. Maybe we can get this thing fixed up. You know, I really think its a shame that Republicans sort of are both in this kind of situation. And I think there may be a nice way to resolve this for everybody.

Ha, at least on 1/15/21 TFG knew he was terminated
Following President Trumps exit from public office, the Office of Government Ethics released his final public financial disclosures, known as a termination report, covering 2020 and the first weeks of 2021.
Among the Trump-branded properties he visited most during his presidency, Trump made $24 million from Mar-a-Lago, about $15 million from Bedminster, more than $44 million from Doral and $15 million from his DC hotel.
According to the disclosure, he was unable to assign a value to the legal services provided by Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis, which he has not paid for.

Mother Jones scoop - Ivanka gave false testimony re: inauguration
https://twitter.com/JoyceWhiteVance/status/1409596624922419203?s=20https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2021/06/documents-show-ivanka-trump-didnt-testify-accurately-in-inauguration-scandal-case/
The Trump family has trouble with depositions. In 2007 testimony, Donald Trump was repeatedly shown to be a liar. In February, Donald Trump Jr. was deposed in the Trump inauguration scandal lawsuit, and on several key points, under oath, he provided false testimony. A review of documents filed in that case and other material obtained by Mother Jones shows that Ivanka Trump also testified inaccurately during her deposition in this lawsuit.
The inauguration probe was launched last year by Karl Racine, the attorney general of Washington, DC. He has alleged that Trumps inauguration committee misused charitable funds to enrich the Trump family. As Racine put it, the lawsuit maintains that the Inaugural Committee, a nonprofit corporation, coordinated with the Trump family to grossly overpay for event space in the Trump International Hotel The Committee also improperly used non-profit funds to throw a private party [at the Trump Hotel] for the Trump family costing several hundred thousand dollars. In short, the attorney general accused the Trump gang of major grifting, and he is seeking to recover the money paid to the Trump Hotel so those funds can be used for real charitable purposes.
