O'malley at 2012 Democratic National Convention Youtube video:

I think America is going to finally have an education about the mostly forgotten war of 1812.

And that is a really good thing!

He's a great Dem and I am glad he is on our side!

O'Malley appearance at International Conference of Mayors, October 2005:

From October 9-11, 2005, The Glocal Forum hosted its 4th annual Glocalization Conference.?During the second day of events, a panel discussion titled “Unveiling the Soul of the City Part 1: Introduction and Discussion” was held.?Participants discussed the aesthetics and openness of their cities.?These two dimensions were found by the Gallup Organization to have the most influence on soul.?Following the panel, the participants responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.

Soul of the City is an innovate study of measuring and tracking the performance and well-being of the world’s cities conducted by the Gallup Organization.?The program allows cities to measure and track the political, economic, and social health of a city based on residents' views as to its performance in providing a positive living-working environment.?Mayors from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States were in attendance. close
O'Malley statements begin at about 23:50… He talks about what he was doing as a city mayor to change the general feeling of the residents of Baltimore and when he as Mayor tried to do to create a better standard of living in the city.

Protecting Cities
Mayor O’Malley talked about the challenges and opportunities faced by the U.S. in protecting the cities from future terrorist attacks.?Among the issues he addressed were the role of state and local authorities in preparing for terrorist attacks and other emergencies, federal assistance to states, and his efforts to build better infrastructures and plans in Baltimore.?Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience.

1 Hour long. He was right then and he is right now on this issue.

It is here where he does question where the urgency of the global WoT really was. He speaks deeply about the need to protect and rebuild urban America.

CVS employees that lost jobs from store burning down are still being paid:

I posted this in another thread from bravenak (thank you bravenak!)

CVS Will Rebuild 2 Stores in Baltimore
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10026632376

Turns out that those employees are still getting paychecks, deservedly so!

http://money.cnn.com/2015/04/30/news/companies/cvs-baltimore-riots-jobs/

Forty-five Baltimore CVS workers who saw their stores burned down in the riots earlier this week are still getting paid.

(snip) But "given the extraordinary circumstances," CVS is paying those workers for their regularly scheduled hours while they try to transfer them to nearby stores, spokeswoman Carolyn Castel said.

In fact, "most" have already been working at other locations, she said. There are 20 other CVS stores in the city.
This coupled with the promise shown in the op above makes me happy. These employees still have a job, paychecks and will eventually be able to return to their community to continue their employment.

You know who is working with O'Malley's O’Say Can You See PAC?

Bill Hyers — a man who played a really big part in getting Progressive MAyor Bill DeBlasio elected in NYC.

The campaign manager credited with orchestrating Mayor de Blasio’s come-from-behind election last year is working as a senior advisor to Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley as he ponders a potential presidential bid in 2016, the Daily News has learned.

Bill Hyers is working with O’Malley’s federal O’Say Can You See PAC, which the governor uses to pay for his staff and raise money for Democratic candidates.

“Bill has been informally advising the Governor's PAC for the last few months,” O’Malley press secretary Lis Smith confirmed. “Now that the midterm elections are over, he is stepping up his role as a senior adviser. With his vast national experience on every level of campaign, we are thrilled to have him on board.”

Hyers has built a brand for himself helping longshot candidates win elections.

Before working for de Blasio, Hyers had served as Pennsylvania state director for President Obama’s reelection campaign in 2012. He also managed the 2006 congressional campaign of now-Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and the 2007 Philadelphia mayoral race of Michael Nutter.

Martin O'Malley expected to announce presidential bid in late-May

http://www.politico.com/story/2015/04/martin-omalley-forces-ramp-up-for-late-may-launch-117254.html

“There’s a base of progressives out there nationally looking for a voice, and they’ve been funding people for a while,” says O’Malley senior adviser Bill Hyers, who managed liberal darling Bill de Blasio’s New York mayoral campaign in 2013. “There’s definitely a group we can tap into that is looking for Gov. O’Malley.”

But as O’Malley seeks to sharpen the contrast with Clinton, aides said, he is unlikely to lash out at her directly anytime soon.
Instead, he will continue to point out her policy shifts, talk about a need for new leadership and tweet videos highlighting his stances on specific issues when he and Clinton disagree, according to people familiar with his plans.

While the O’Malley brain trust is invested in raising the likely candidate’s name recognition levels in the early-voting states, his advisers see no benefit in doing so by attacking Clinton, whose campaign looks and feels like a juggernaut. It’s not productive for O’Malley to become known for anti-Clinton attacks, they believe, preferring that he focus on specific issues — like strengthening Wall Street regulation and opposing the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal — that excite liberals.

Ultimately, his strategists hope to position him as a liberal with executive experience, funded largely by a robust online donation operation.

SoP for the Martin O'Malley Group

The Martin O'Malley group serves as a safe haven to discuss and learn about Governor Martin O'Malley. As fellow Democrats, bashing other Democratic candidates is not acceptable. This is paramount to participation in this group.

New Jersey sending NJ State Troopers to Baltimore:

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/chris-christie-freddie-gray-baltimore
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) announced on Tuesday via Twitter that he would be sending 150 state troopers to assist Maryland in its response to the violence unfurling in Baltimore.

The violence that began on Monday was tied to protests, which sought answers about the death of Freddie Gray, who suffered a severed spinal cord while in police custody and died. Maryland's governor also announced some 2,000 national guardsmen would be dispatched to help stop the violence.

Is it just me, or does this seem like a really bad idea?

Larry Hogan (Maryland Gov) is, IMO, sending a message that Maryland State troopers alongside the state's national Guard can't take care of this. I really don't think the people of Baltimore will take too kindly to 'outsiders' policing their city. I know I wouldn't like it if it happened in my city.

… and then there's the optics of Christie sending state police when "the blacks" riot, but is mum when "the whites" do it…

Has anyone had luck with using Milky Spore to rid themselves of grubs?

Specifically these:

I was prepping spoil for the garden and found a bunch. Went and bought some today and I hope it rids me of these nasty buggers this year.

They wiped out my dukes last year and now I see they are in my main veggie bed.

BOO.
