Daily Show last night: great Hillary interview. "Democracy depends on having some factual basis...

"some factual basis on which to make decisions, and in the absence of that, people will be tearing each other apart because they will be living in echo chambers where what they hear is what they think is the truth adn somebody else over here has there own echo chambers..." talking about why it is so important to get to the bottom of what happened with Russia.

Hillary Clinton Talks Russia on The Daily Show: ‘We’ve Never Had an Adversary Who Attacked Us With So Few Consequences’

In the latter part of her Daily Show interview, Hillary Clinton told Trevor Noah, “I’ve walked in the woods, and that was enough. I’m done with that. I’m back.” And she certainly seemed ready to use her return to the national spotlight to lay out a few things on her mind: Russia, Trump, and the connection to her big loss. “This is cyberwarfare,” Clinton said of Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election. “It is a form of war and we’ve never had an adversary who attacked us with so few consequences.”

Clinton also addressed several factors surrounding the investigation into the Trump campaign’s possible collusion with Russia. The former secretary of State argued that the FBI should have revealed its investigation into the connection before the election. “I know that voters should have had that information, that’s something that may have influenced some people,” she said. She also shut down attempts to equate her campaign’s partial financing of the infamous Trump Dossier with her opponent’s possible interactions with Russians. She explained:

“This was research started by a Republican donor during the Republican primary and then when Trump got the nomination for the Republican party the people doing it came to my campaign lawyer and said, ‘Would you like us to continue it?’ And he said yes. He’s an experienced lawyer, he knows what the law is, he knows what opposition research is.”

Clinton ended the interview by reaffirming, “I’m going to keep talking, I’m not going anywhere.”

Abused Dog Is Terrified Of Everyone Except This Baby, And Their Pics Are The Sweetest Thing Ever

Happy to have something happy to post!

Everybody needs someone to love. Nora’s previous owners had abused the pup to the point where she’s now scared to death of every living being – except one toddler. “We got our girl Nora, an English Pointer, from a rescue shelter seven years ago prior to having kids,” her owner Elizabeth told Bored Panda. “Despite having come from an abusive situation her sweet and gentle nature shone through and we knew with certainty she would be a wonderful family dog when the time came. She absolutely did not disappoint!”

Elizabeth’s family is definitely on the bigger side. She and her husband have 3 kids, 3 rescue cats, 3 rescue dogs. Aside from being in love with the number 3, Elizabeth adores the relationship between her son Archie and their pup Nora. “Archie is an extremely laid-back, happy, good-natured baby and all the animals seem to really respond to that, particularly Nora,” Spence told the Dodo. “She came from an abusive background and is afraid of almost everything. Not Archie, though. She absolutely adores him!”

The duo is inseparable. “If Archie is having a bath, Nora is lying on the bath mat waiting for him to get out. If I’m nursing him she wants up on my lap, too.” Luckily, she documents their incredible bond and shares it on Instagram where nearly 100,000 people are following the heartwarming friendship.

Rachel: Trump callous treatment of Green Berets is diversion from what really happened in Niger

Rachel says Trump does not want to talk about what happened in Niger - all kinds of unanswered questions and he won't go there. This callousness with gold star families she says is a diversion from that. SHe gave other examples of how he is an expert of diversion, which we already knew, but she is raising a lot of questions about this that I haven't heard others asking yet.

Hot Australian firefighters posing with cute animals for charity fundraiser calendar

https://www.buzzfeed.com/jennaguillaume/its-getting-hot-in-here?bfsource=bbf_enus&utm_term=.jvDQLew8e#.fj2LjAaQA

The 2018 Australian Firefighters Calendar is here and it features both hot firefighters AND cute animals! Proceeds from this year's calendar will go to Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors, as well as the Australian Children's Hospital Foundation, Children's Hospital at Westmead, and Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation burns units.

This is the 25th Australian Firefighters Calendar, and what a fine tradition it is. The crew have raised over $2 million for charity during that time.

Wyden says Burr's claims that Russian meddling didn't change vote totals are bunk

This entire article is a must-read. Wyden calling out Burr on all kinds of election/Russia/Kushner points. Burr still trying to cover. Wyden is blowing his cover. Love it that they refer to Wyden as "a feisty member of the intelligence committee."

snip

First, Burr declared that although Russian hackers had probed or penetrated the election systems of at least 21 states, he could confidently state that the Russian meddling in the 2016 election resulted in no changes to the vote tallies. That is, there’s no reason to question Trump’s Electoral College win. And second, Burr said that Russia’s use of Facebook ads during the presidential campaign seemed “indiscriminate” and not designed to help a particular candidate—meaning the recent revelations do not bolster the case that Trump was the Kremlin’s choice.

But Sen. Ron Wyden, (D-Ore.), a feisty member of the intelligence committee, says both assertions are bunk. In an interview with Mother Jones on Thursday, Wyden argued that Burr’s confidence in the election system was unwarranted. “The chairman said that he can say ‘certifiably’ that there was no vote tampering,” said Wyden. “I do not agree with this judgment. I don’t think it is possible to know that. There was no systematic analysis of the voting or forensic evaluations of the voting machines.”

Wyden pointed out that the Department of Homeland Security has noted that its assessment that there was no finagling with the vote count was made with only “moderate confidence.” For Wyden, that’s not good enough for such a sensitive and significant matter—and it sends the misguided signal that the voting system is doing just fine. Wyden believes that’s the wrong message. This week he sent a letter to the major manufacturers of voting machines demanding information about how they protect themselves from cyberattacks.

Wyden also said that Burr erred in declaring that the Russian Facebook ads—some of which targeted swing states—did not favor a presidential candidate. (Presumably Wyden has seen or been briefed on the content of the ads.) “That’s one reason why the ads need to be released to the American people,” Wyden remarked, “so Americans can make up their minds.”
